1979 Ferrari 308 Gtb "best On The Planet" Red/black, Low Miles, 16" Wheels on 2040-cars
Vancouver, Washington, United States
Most 308s for sale are average; this 308 GTB is exceptional in all aspects. Here are a few highlights on this Rosso Corso beauty.
Low original mileage (approx. 13,000 mi) Platinum FCA winner Coppa Bella Machina winner 270 HP engine (stock appearance)
The rule of thumb in the classic car world is to buy the best example of a certain model you can. Without a doubt, this 308 is the one. The cost to restore an average 308 GTB to this standard would far exceed the price to buy this example.
308 GTB (30089) has a well documented past with service records, tools, books, etc. A look at the photos of this outstanding example will reveal the quality of the car.
The
mechanicals are fresh with a major service done a year and a half ago. The
engine was rebuilt and improved recently. A dyno test certification comes with
the car. Details are on the Carobu Engineering website.
“This 308 engine rebuild represents a request for more power without hurting drivability or going nuts with the cost. One of the goals of the project was to retain the basic appearance and performance feel of the original engine, but with increased horsepower. In the opinion of many, this should have been the standard specification engine on the 308 series from the beginning and, eventually, the 328 series produced this power (years later).
The internal engine modifications were Stage 1 specification; higher compression, forged pistons; upgraded rod bolts; longer duration cams; improve head flow and careful dyno tuning.”
The clutch, water pump and steering rack were all replaced recently. The radiator has been updated with a more efficient and much lighter aluminum version. The Koni shocks were rebuilt and upgraded to include adjustable ride-height. 16” factory alloys and performance tires complete the high-performance chassis. This Ferrari needs nothing and is ready to be enjoyed.
A look at the body shows a meticulous attention to detail. The bumpers are the highly desirable Euro-type that are lighter and better looking than the heavy (some say ugly) US bumpers. The wheels are in concours shape with the proper 16” tires.
The interior continues this theme and is in excellent condition with only light driver’s seat wear from normal use. The original Blaupunkt radio is included, but it has been replaced by a modern Blaupunkt San Francisco with CD player. The steering wheel shows almost no wear, the dash is perfect and the gauges/controls are still fresh. The pedals have aluminum covers (F40 style).
The driving experience is what Enzo intended. This 308 drives straight, handles well, brakes hard and accelerates better then a 328. The sound from the light-weight stainless steel Tubi sport muffler is hair-raising while the shifting action is smooth and crisp. A light-weight flywheel adds to the performance feel of the engine. And this 308 is light weight too, with the overall car weight cut down by 200 lbs. This gives the GTB a responsive feel missing on most US model 308s. Included in the sale are the following. The original smog equipment and air pump. Original rubber pedal pads. Blaupunkt radio/tape player. Air conditioning compressor. Copies of receipts for work done. Books/tools/jack. 14" factory wheels with XWX tires are available at additional cost and are not included in the sale.

Tax The Rich returns with reckless driving in a Ferrari 288 GTO
Thu, 14 Nov 2013Tax The Rich, the YouTube channel that exists mainly to terrorize ultra-rare, ultra-expensive cars like the Jaguar XJ220, Ferrari Enzo and Rolls-Royce Phantom, has come out with its first video in two months, starring one of the rarest Ferraris of the past 40 years - the 288 GTO.
Now, by Tax The Rich standards, its treatment of the 288 is better than what the Enzo or the Rolls (especially) got in their videos. The most cringe-worthy parts are in the very beginning, before transitioning to actual roads (yes, we know the 288 was originally meant as a Group B rally car, but that makes zipping about on grass and dirt in a very rare Ferrari no less difficult to watch). After that, it's more of the stuff we wish collectors would do with their cars - drive. Seeing and hearing this 288 GTO at full clip is a thing of beauty, and something we wish were a far more regular occurrence.
Take a look below for the latest video from Tax The Rich.
eBay Find of the Day: Your choice of new, unregistered mid-2000s supercars
Wed, 26 Dec 2012If you didn't quite find what you were hoping to see under the tree this year, maybe it's about time you buy yourself something nice. Something like an unregistered 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. The car has never been titled and has just 83 miles on the odometer. With one owner since new, the Carrera GT is likely to be as nice an example as you're likely to find outside of a museum. Porsche only built 340 of these machines back in 2005, and with a 610 horsepower V10 kicking at your spine, you can lap Santa's sleigh next year. Currently, the Carrera GT has a buy it now price of $457,325 with around six days left on the auction.
Not flashy enough for your tastes? Stroll on down to West Hollywood and you'll find a similarly untitled 2004 Ferrari Enzo up for grabs with a sticker of $1.8 million. Technically a Euro-spec car, the Enzo isn't legal to operate on US roads, but could be modified to satisfy Uncle Sam with a little effort. The seller calls this car the "last brand-new Enzo in existence" and with 175 miles on the clock, that may be a true statement. You can head over to eBay Motors for a closer look if you're feeling spendy.
Pranked angry Ferrari owner says urine trouble now, man!
Tue, 16 Apr 2013A good rule to live by is that you should never mess with another man's car, but Roman Atwood learned that you probably shouldn't even pretend with another man's ride... especially when it's a Ferrari 360 Modena. The internet prankster was trying to perform a little handicap parking spot justice by acting as if he were urinating on an Italian supercar that he felt was illegally parked.
Needless to say, the owner of the car was not amused by Atwood's antics, proceeding to shove him, shout obscenities and even yell, "I could buy your whole family." Both men seem like real class acts. Check out the prank-gone-wrong below.
