1978 Ferrari 308 GTS Red with black interior serial number 26365 USA car which was produced November 1978. 141529 miles.  Carburetor car. Better looking european front spoiler.  16 inch BBS wheels. Car starts and runs well no smoke, syncros good. Windows work, lights work. Original California car with factory sticker indicating so still in lower front left of windshield.Still have old California title with car. Some service history from the 1980's in California which show clutch replacement, fresh shocks and suspension bushing this was done at mileage of 119,000. I was told a belt service was performed in the mid 1990's. Car needs body work and a service should be performed before the car is driven much, rear brakes are sticky also. Inspite of the mileage and the body work the car needs, it appears straight and the underside, engine compartment and A-arm areas appear cleaner than cars with   fewer miles, the interior also shows fairly well with faded carpets which is normal on older carburetored 308 cars. I have the spare tire and the car has a jack kit as well.  Reasonable reserve a bit over part out value.  I really think that if you purchased this car and just let it sit without doing anything other than changing the fluids and driving it around the block a few times a month, you will never lose money and as the US economy improves the older 308 carburetor cars in my opinion will only rise in value as the early Ferrari V-12 cars have done. For further details I have a page with many additional highly detailed photos of the car. Please go to forzamotorsports with the usual com ending.
Car is located in northwestern Connecticut about 75 miles north of New York City. If you have questions you can reach me thru ebay or call 860-350-1140. I can help arrange shipping to any location, but the buyer must pay for it. International buyers welcome. Thank you for looking at my listing.

Ferrari planning six-cylinder Dino revival?

Wed, Apr 8 2015

Ferrari swore up and down when it was developing the California that it wouldn't be an "entry-level" model. Whether that ultimately proved to be the case or not is up for debate, but it seems that the Prancing Horse marque is now preparing to launch a properly more accessible model in the near future. According to Motor Trend, Maranello is working on a new six-cylinder sports car to serve as the point of entry for new customers – especially in China. Tax implications there could mean the V6 would displace less than 3.0 liters, but likely pack a pair of turbochargers to ensure that output and performance live up to the Ferrari standard. Tipped to arrive in 2019, the six-cylinder model could materialize as a revival of sorts of the Dino line. Named after Enzo Ferrari's first-born son, the Dino sub-brand used mostly six-cylinder engines to take on the Porsche 911 on and off the track. The Dino 206 GT emerged in 1968, evolved into the larger-displacement 246 the following year and ultimately gave way to the very different, eight-cylinder, four-seat 308 GT4 in 1973, later to be rebadged as a proper Ferrari once the Dino brand was put to rest in '76. It's worth noting that Ferrari developed the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 for the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte, which would presumably serve as the basis for the new entry-level Ferrari. Though FCA typically endeavors to keep its brands from competing directly with one another, Maserati is due to release a production version of the Alfieri sports car concept within the next couple of years, powered by that same engine, and could share its underpinnings with the Ferrari model in question. The six-cylinder Prancing Horse could carry a price tag of around $180,000 to take on the likes of the Porsche 911 Turbo, Mercedes-AMG GT, Audi R8 and the Sports Series which McLaren just kicked off with its new entry-level 570S. Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...

Le Mans-raced 1953 Ferrari 340/375 MM headed to auction

Sat, 09 Feb 2013

Vintage Ferrari models show up on the auction circuit all the time, but few can match this particular '53 340/375 MM Berlinetta Competizione in terms of historical significance. Not only did the machine compete in the 1953 24 Hours of Le Mans, but this particular model managed to finish in second place before being disqualified for taking on extra brake fluid during a stop. More importantly, a total of three Formula One world champions have driven this car in competition at events like the Spa 24 Hours, Pescara 12 Hours and the Circuit of Guadeloupe.
The coolest part for us? Umberto Maglioli managed to set a public road stage record with this machine during the Carrera Panamericana by averaging 138 miles per hour over 223 miles. The effort was good enough to land the team a sixth place finish overall, and the record still stands to this day for any road stage anywhere. The 340/375 MM Berlinetta Competizione is up for auction in restored condition at the RM Auction event in Paris this week. Check out the full press release below for more information.
