Red Viper Gts. Final Year Of Iconic Gen-2 Viper; True American Supercar. on 2040-cars
Rowlett, Texas, United States
Up for sell is my 2002 Dodge Viper GTS Coupe. This car was a classic the day it rolled off the assembly line. Twelve years later there is still NOTHING like a second generation Viper GTS.
The 2002 was the final year for the Gen 2 Viper, a much more sorted performance car than the Gen 1 that it replaced in 1996. In 2001, the braking systems were improved to better compete with the world's most capable supercars. Subsequent Gen 3 and 4 cars became more refined and laden with creature comforts to distract from the raw edge of this car. The stripe-less red 2002 GTS is THE Viper to own. Vipers are for drivers who crave torque and want to feel as closely connected to it as possible. It is truly a supercar by virtually any definition other than price. And it is a distinctly American Supercar. Now let me tell you about the special features of this car. The paint is red. The interior is black. The tires are wide. And the motor is big. The tail pipes are fat and it makes a lot of noise when you press hard on the throttle. It gets really bad gas mileage. There is nothing subtle about this car. The 490 foot pounds of torque are seemingly available from near idle. The rush of power from any gear is exhilarating. Downshift and stand on it and it can get scary fast for the uninitiated. Let off the gas and that gurgle out back will remind you of the serious potential pushing the pedal in the other direction will deliver. It is a beast. This Viper GTS starts right up and runs cool at 190' all day long. It idles calmly. The T56 six speed gearbox shifts with authority, the robust clutch takes up smoothly but is more than up for the task when called upon. It is clad with fresh staggered BF Goodrich G-Force rubber; 275/35ZR18's in front and an incredible 335/30ZR18's in the back. It has upgraded Stop-Tech brakes that are strong and fade free. The air blows cold and all the controls work as intended. The Alpine radio/CD sounds good but who cares when you have that 8.0 liter 450 bhp normally aspirated ram air V10 to serenade you. Despite its amazing performance capabilities the car is easy to drive around town, even docile if you have the restraint. There are no real blind spots and it soaks up bumps surprisingly well for a track ready car. Telephone conversations are a genuine possibility at cruising speeds. The big danger is the rubber-neck'ers in the next lane. From the fellow enthusiast to the soccer mom in the minivan; no one can resist the eye candy that is a red Viper GTS. From a collect-ability standpoint these cars, unless seriously dogged, represent a great buying opportunity. A lower mileage car (less than 20k) can be substantially more $$ whereas a higher mileage car (higher than 60k) is only marginally less $$. Owing to the simplicity of the driveline, these cars live up to their reputation as "bullet proof". The GTS is the car to own, not an RT10. Don't let the 44,000 miles on the odometer of this car deter you. This is a up trending collector that you can DRIVE and enjoy 5,000 miles a year without apology and never lose money. This car is in Rowlett, Texas 75088 and is offered at a buy it now of $36,800.

2015 Dodge Challenger configurator has all the Hellcat you can dream of
Mon, 08 Sep 2014The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has sucked up a lot of air in the automotive news world this summer, so it's good to know that you can actually go out and, you know, buy the sucker. With 2015 models headed for your local showroom, Dodge has seen fit to also pull the wraps off it's latest Challenger configurator, complete with the supercharged Hemi V8 option that we just can't seem to get enough of.
We're still enamored of the $58,995 starting price for the 707-horsepower SRT, but the online tool finally gives us a chance to see just how optioned up our dream super-muscle coupe can get.
Buyers can choose from three interior treatments and nine paint colors, with two hues (Ivory White and Phantom Black tri-coats) coming for a $500 premium. For $1,795 Laguna Leather SRT bucket seats can be added in place of the (very nice) stock chairs, and a fancier infotaiment system with navigation and HD radio runs $695.
Real-life Bravado Banshee from Grand Theft Auto up for sale
Sun, 01 Jun 2014Remember the Bravado Banshee that West Coast Customs built last year to promote Grand Theft Auto V? Given away by GameStop, the woman who won it says she's better off with money to send her two kids to college than with a race car, so now you can steal buy it on eBay.
Based on a 2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10, every exterior panel was redesigned to match the Banshee, and the red embroidered badging inside won't let you forget it. There's still that V10 up front that can make some kind of racket, and a SEMA-worthy stereo filling the entire trunk to make a different kind of racket. Oh, it's also got hood struts that have crapped out, so you'll notice the hood is held up with a wooden rod.
The auction ends on June 5, and you can make an offer or hit the Buy It Now button and hand over $170,000. Might be time to change the outfit and run a few jobs for some quick cash.
2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with '600-plus horsepower' officially unveiled [w/video]
Tue, 20 May 2014Dodge has officially unveiled the most powerful vehicle to ever wear the Challenger name - the SRT Hellcat - complete with over 600 horsepower courtesy of a supercharged, 6.2-liter Hemi V8. It will be offered alongside the 485-hp Challenger SRT.
The new, force-induced V8 isn't just the most powerful ever fitted to the Challenger, it's the most powerful eight-cylinder Chrysler Group has ever built. Power figures aren't finalized, so expect to see "over 600 hp" bandied about quite a lot. That fury will be channeled through either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Yes, over 600 ponies through an eight-speed auto. So far, the only vehicle we know of that delivers more output through that many gears is the as-yet untested Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Sadly, we don't have performance metrics just yet, although if this thing can't crack four seconds to 60 miles per hour, we'll be pretty surprised.
As is the theme nowadays, the 2015 Challenger SRT features a number of driving modes, governing power output, shift speeds for the 8AT, steering effort, traction control settings and suspension settings. There are three pre-programmed options - Default, Sport and Track - and a Custom mode that allows drivers to mix and match to their heart's content.
