Junkyard Gem: 1990 Dodge Colt Vista

The partnership between Chrysler and Mitsubishi started way back in 1971 and led to plenty of Mitsubishis being sold in the United States as Chryslers, Dodges, Plymouths, and Eagles (plus the use of Mitsubishi engines in all manner of Chrysler-built vehicles). The Colt name – used on a series of Galant-, Lancer-, and Mirage-based cars Â– became a fairly successful brand for Chrysler, and so it was slapped on Dodge- and Plymouth-badged Mitsubishi Chariots. The Colt Vista wasn't a huge sales success, and you won't see many today, but they had a certain following. Here's a rare '90 that I spotted in a Minneapolis self-service wrecking yard over the summer. Just 114k miles on this one, but the rust got pretty bad and that's the most likely culprit for its junkyardization. These cars made good family haulers, although you wouldn't find many of their 2016 counterparts sporting three pedals. Turbo Tom kept it going for quite a while, but rust never sleeps in Minnesota. 2017 Challenger, Charger Hellcats recalled for catastrophic oil-line failure

If you own a Hellcat, either a Charger or Challenger, built between Feb. 6, 2017, and May 30, 2017, you may want to consider parking it for a while. The reason for this is NHTSA officially acknowledged a recall from Chrysler for engine oil cooler lines that could fail, leading to major oil loss. Which of course could lead to severe engine damage. According to the recall information, the issue lies in the rubber used in the oil cooler line. Chrysler's testing revealed that the rubber didn't meet the company's criteria. As a result it was able to separate from a crimped aluminum portion of the line, letting oil spill out. The recall goes into effect on Sept. 22, which is when Chrysler will start reaching out to owners to alert them. The company will replace the oil cooler lines free of charge. Owners can call Chrysler's customer service at 1-800-853-1403 with any questions regarding the recall, which has the reference code "T48." Related Video:
