1994 Dodge Viper Base Convertible 2-door 8.0l on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
Overview The Viper was like nothing else on the road when it deputed in 1992. It had just 2 seats, side exhaust pipes, no outside door handles, no windows, no traction control, and no apologizes. Dodge had worked with the great Carroll Shelby to create this monster. It had a new 8.0 liter V10 engine mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. The first generation, 1992-1994, was not the best of years for the Viper. With steadily increasing production numbers, with the most being built in 1994 with 2,890. 1994 was also the first year that Air Condition was an option. Despite the low production numbers, the Viper was a hit with customers. It is still being produced today, but the 1st generation cars are more sought after now than when they first came out. The car available here is your chance to get a brand new 1994 Dodge Viper. With only 507 original miles on this car, it isn’t even broken in yet. It even still wears its original tires. You will not find a better example of the 1st generation Viper. If you’re a collector this is a must have or if you’re somebody that dreamed of having one when they first came out, this is your chance. It is like buying one brand new in 1994. This is a one owner car that was only used a few times a year for parades and simple joy drives. It was always garaged kept and never saw rain. Exterior As you can imagine the exterior on this car is amazing. If there are any flaws, they came from the factory. The paint is spectacular, no scratches, dents, or chips to speak of. The doors, hood, and trunk all shut firmly and have good gaps. Interior The interior is perfect. The car was garaged kept and cared for, so there is no fading or discoloration on the interior plastics or leather. The radio works great, all gauges work, and all lights work. The soft top and side curtains have never been on the car, nor as the tonneau cover. The tonneau cover is still in the plastic from the factory. The top and side curtains are in the travel bags still as well. The side curtain windows are clear and show no sign of discoloration. All the bows for the top are also in the big with the top itself. Mechanicals The car runs flawlessly. We have not driven it but a few miles, due to its extremely low mileage. We do not want to add any more miles than needed. Unfortunately we have not service records for any maintenance, but all the fluids are clean and full. We would recommend a full service and for sure new tires if you plan in driving the car regularly. The tires do not seem to be flat spotted or out of round, since it was used on a yearly basis, but given they are original to the car their age would be an issue if used regularly. Literature and Extras Every book, manual, and even the VHS tape that came with the car showing how to operate the hood, install the side curtains, rear glass, top, and tonneau cover. The car also come with a factory service manual in a Viper hard case binder. The spare keys, which are still in the plastic pouch. We also have the original window sticker and delivery paperwork for this car. The spare tire and all the accessories are in the trunk. Conclusion You are not going to find a better example of the 1st Generation Viper. It is a time capsule that can’t be replicated. The Viper is a rare case where they are collectible while they are still in production. This is your chance to own a new 1994 Viper RT/10, just 10 years later. Dodge recalls 27k Darts for bracket that can disrupt transmission module
Thu, Sep 17 2015Dodge is recalling 27,520 examples of the 2013-2015 Dart with dual-clutch gearboxes. The mounting bracket for the transmission control module can affect the part's operation and cause the compacts to suddenly shift into neutral. According to the automaker, 23,688 of them are in the US, 3,376 in Canada, 5 in Mexico, and 451 elsewhere. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports these examples carry build dates between February 24, 2012, and June 16, 2015. There are also no reports of accidents or injuries. Because of the way the bracket is mounted, the part can put too much force on the control module's circuit board and cause it to shift out of gear. The engine and airbags remain operable if this happens. To fix things, dealers will install a redesigned mount and replacement module. Related Video: Statement: Mounting Bracket September 14, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is recalling an estimated 23,688 cars in the U.S. to replace certain control modules and mounting brackets that may contribute to a loss of motive power. The Company is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. An FCA US investigation prompted by a small number of warranty claims discovered a control-module mounting bracket may apply too much force and disrupt the function of a circuit board within the module. This condition, unique to certain cars equipped with dual dry-clutch transmissions (DDCT), may cause the transmission to shift into neutral. However, the engine remains on and the vehicle's air-bags, as well as other safety features, are unaffected. The condition may also be preceded by the illumination of a dashboard warning light. Customers who observe this are urged to contact their dealers. The campaign is limited to certain 2013-2015 Dodge Darts equipped with DDCTs. Additional vehicles will be recalled in Canada (3,376), Mexico (five) and outside the NAFTA region (451). Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service, which will be performed free of charge. Service will entail installation of a redesigned mounting bracket and replacement of the control module. Customers with additional questions may call the FCA US Customer Information Center at 1-800-853-1403.
Certain Chrysler owners eligible for buyback program
Mon, Jul 27 2015Certain car owners whose Chrysler vehicles contain dangerous defects will soon have a way to get rid of their lemons without losing money. As part of an agreement with federal regulators, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has agreed to buy back more than 500,000 vehicles susceptible to veering out of control without warning at above market-value prices. The deal mainly covers certain models of RAM trucks, the Dodge Dakota pickup and Dodge Durango SUV. Further, owners of more than 1.5 million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokees at heightened risk for lethal fires are eligible to trade in their vehicles at above market value or, alternately, get a gift certificate if they prefer to have repairs made. Chrysler has "a heavy responsibility to make sure the products they make are safe for the traveling public," said Mark Rosekind, administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. "... Here, we are sending an unambiguous signal to industry that if you skirt the laws or violate the law, or don't live up to the responsibility that consumers expect, we are going to penalize you." The buy-back and trade-in options for motorists come as part of an unprecedented penalty NHTSA slapped against Chrysler for violating federal motor-vehicle safety laws. Chrysler will pay a $105 million fine, the highest ever levied by the regulatory agency. In addition to the buy-backs, Chrysler also agreed to an independent monitor for three years. Investigators had outlined problems in the company's conduct in 23 recalls that affected more than 11 million defect vehicles. As part of a consent-order agreement, Chrysler acknowledged it did not notify vehicle owners of recalls in an effective manner and did not notify NHTSA of safety problems. Though those recalls affected millions of drivers, the buy-back and trade-in options are only for a small portion of the vehicles involved. Because Chrysler struggled to fix the problem and no repair was apparent, Rosekind said the buy-backs are reserved "for customers who didn't have a remedy." Buy-backs are for trucks and SUVs affected by three recalls that occurred in 2013 (recalls 13V-038, 13V-527 and 13V-529), that addressed a rear-axle pinion nut that could come loose and cause a loss of vehicle control. Those recalls covered 579,228 vehicles, including 2009-2012 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks, 2009-2012 Dodge Dakotas, 2009 Chrysler Aspen and the 2009 Dodge Durango.
2020 Colorado Winter Driver's Notes | Behind the Wheel S02 // E12
Mon, Apr 6 20202020 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 I’ve had bad luck with SUVs this winter. Especially performance ones. First, I got a 2019 Range Rover Sport SVR delivered on summers right as two feet of snow fell, rendering it undriveable. Then, coronavirus cancelled Easter Jeep Safari as well as my trip out to Moab in the 2020 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Diesel. Thankfully, when this 469 horsepower luxury mall crawler was dropped off, the sun shone down and the snow (mostly) held off. The first thing that I noticed was there were a few blank buttons throughout the cabin, something that you may see in an entry model vehicle, but IÂ’m not accustomed to seeing in an AMG. Not a great look for a vehicle with an $80,000 price tag. Thankfully that was where the disappointment ended. As soon as you press the start button, the engine fires up and the exhaust note is incredible. Hopping on the highway ramp near my house, I floored it, and the biturbo V8 had me pressed back into the driver's seat, and this wasnÂ’t even the S version that our staff drove last year. Inside and out, the GLC 63 was everything youÂ’d expect from Mercedes. The interior was immaculate, and while the infotainment wheel and touch pad may take some getting used to for someone who isnÂ’t familiar, by now I have it down so that I can use it without looking. And while the V8 left me smiling ear to ear, I was most impressed by the amount of useable interior space there is. I happened to be moving at the time of this review and while all of my large furniture was shoved into the back of a moving van, I was able to fit almost everything else in the back of the GLC. 2019 and 2020 Fiat 500X Trekking ItÂ’s hard to say goodbye to an AMG and then turn around and be excited when a Fiat 500X pulls in your driveway (I know, I know, automotive journalist problems). That being said, when the red Fiat pulled up, I found myself admiring it. I am very familiar with the 500X. Back in 2016 Autoblog had one for a year as our long term test vehicle. I drove that car everywhere, multiple trips up north in Michigan, and even tracked it at Gingerman Raceway for a few laps before the brakes started smoking. The 2019 model I had in my driveway and the 2020 model I drove in the snow up in the mountains feel very similar to that car. The interior is stylish and surprisingly roomy. The greenhouse is airy.
