  • Dodge Sprinter 2004, 10 passenger Van
  • Fuel Type: Diesel: Avg 24 MPG City
  • 5 cylinder, 2.7-Liter Mercedes Turbo-Diesel - Auto transmission
  • Diesel engines are built more ruggedly to withstand the rigors of higher compression. Consequently, they usually go much longer than gas-powered vehicles before they require major repairs. Mercedes-Benz holds the longevity record with several vehicles clocking more than 900,000 miles on their original engines.
  • Very Good Condition with all new tires July 2013 now have 8,000 miles on them.
  • Very Clean Vehicle, easy to maintain
  • 203,000 Miles (Diesel engines generally last from 400,000-500,000 miles when taken care of)
  • Excellent large family vehicle great for team mom, dance team family, vacations, carpool for school (things we have used it for)
  • Easy, safe and comfortable to drive and excellent mileage on Mercedes Diesel Engine
  • Hi top ceiling allows for getting around inside
  • Turn radius allows for easy parking
  • Interior in EXCELLENT condition, no tears, stains or problems with upholstery
  • NON SMOKERS vehicle
  • Excellent for family or team road trips!
  • Our teen daughters learned to drive in this, not hard to drive, great vision of surroundings
  • Rear  RV A/C completely replaced (compressor and clutch) in 6/2011
  • All maintenance up to date and various key components have been replaced and repaired as needed (a/c and engine drive belts, belt tensioner, upper hoses, resinator, transmission filter and flush, brakes, battery, alternator, tires, turbo adjustments, wiper blades, power window switch, side door hinge, thermostat) Oil and other liquids changed per manufacturers recommendations as part of routine maintenance.
  • For those who don't know much about Dodge/Mercedes Sprinters, they are sold in three wheelbases-118.0 inches, 140.0 inches, and 158.0 inches-and two roof heights. Ours is the 10-passenger intermediate-wheelbase with regular height ceiling. All are powered by a five-cylinder 2.7-liter Mercedes turbo-diesel that is a champ. It's quick to start, doesn't stink, and idles relatively smoothly and quietly. After a couple hundred miles, you forget it's a diesel. It produces 154 horsepower at 3800 rpm and 243 pound-feet of torque between 1600 rpm and 2400 rpm. (Taken from Car and Driver Review)
  • We purchased this Sprinter from a Dealer in PA in 2010 as a big family van in lieu of a Suburban that didn't get more than 11MPG. We have 8 children but 3 are now gone to college, so we no longer need a 10 passenger vehicle.
  • Shipping can be arranged through various shipping companies after payment has been made in full. We flew to PA and drove it to GA because these vehicles are hard to find except for cargo versions in the USA. It was well worth our time and drive to obtain this van!

FCA and Cummins named in diesel emissions class-action lawsuit

Mon, Nov 14 2016

Chrysler is now the first United States-based carmaker to be sued for allegedly skewing emissions results. In a move that sounds eerily similar to the troubles of European manufacturers, Chrysler is claimed to have hid diesel engine characteristics causing emissions as much as 14 times higher than permitted by regulations. According to Bloomberg, the lawsuit alleges that Chrysler, together with its diesel engine partner Cummins, has concealed the nitrogen oxide output of certain Ram vehicles produced between 2007 and 2012. The NOx pollutants were meant to be broken down in a process called regeneration in the truck's NAC system, or NOx Absorption Catalyst, which predated the 2013-introduced SCR, or Selective Catalytic Reduction system. By design, the NAC captures and stores NOx emissions, converting them to nitrogen and oxygen through a catalytic process. The lawsuit claims the Cummins engine's system has a limited capacity to store the emissions, and as a result the pollutants escape, increasing emissions, worsening fuel consumption and wearing down the catalytic converter. The later, cleaner SCR system uses a urea-water injection, and it gradually replaced the NAC on Cummins 6.7-liter engines, as it was first implemented in 2011 and made standard in 2013. As Bloomberg notes, the model years of Ram trucks involved in the lawsuit predate the earliest Volkswagen "Dieselgate" models by two years. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of 500,000 truck owners, accuses Chrysler and Cummins of fraud, false advertising and racketeering. As an underlying motive, the filing mentions a 2001 change in EPA emissions standards. Announced to become effective in 2010, the EPA requirements drove Chrysler and Cummins to try and reach those already by 2007. However, the NAC system is said to have fallen short of these goals, and the filing claims that Chrysler and Cummins chose to "rig" the engines instead. The affected vehicles predate the 2014 merger of Chrysler and Fiat. FCA US has released a statement regarding the lawsuit, saying it will contest the lawsuit "vigorously". MotorWeek revisits the awesome, original Dodge Viper

Sat, Jun 6 2015

MotorWeek is bringing the automotive world a wonderful blast from the past with its latest Retro Review. Not only does the video feature the now-famous, original Dodge Viper, but this is also a chance to watch one lapping Pocono International Raceway in a test of track prowess. This segment was MotorWeek's first chance to unleash the Viper around a racecourse, and the show took advantage of the opportunity. In addition to the usual 0-60 mph and quarter-mile tests, the 400-horsepower V10 is let loose to do lap after lap. The clip offers a great dose of nostalgia and is worth a watch to remember the intense enthusiasm surrounding the Viper at the time.

Daily Driver: 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

Tue, May 26 2015

Daily Driver videos are micro-reviews of vehicles in the Autoblog press fleet, reviewed by the staffers who drive them every day. Today's Daily Driver features the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, reviewed by Greg Migliore. You can watch the video above or read a transcript below. Watch more Autoblog videos at /videos. VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: [00:00:00] Hey, everybody. It's Greg Migliore and today I am driving a 707-horsepower Dodge Charger. That can only mean one thing: I'm driving the Hellcat. Naturally, the spotlight feature of this car is the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V8. Makes 707 horsepower and 650 pound feet of torque. [00:00:30] Now naturally the engine sounds great and you can hear all of those horses going out the exhaust in back, which I think the Dodge guys have tuned really well. I think it's got one of the more unique sounds in the industry. All that horsepower will do that, but they've tuned it so there's a low kind of growl, and then it burbles and it's angry [00:01:00], it's visceral. I like it. It's intoxicating. It's different than other muscle cars. It's different than European exotics. I think it sounds great. I'm driving in sport right now which allows me to use the paddle shifters. I think it sounds a little better and the shifts of the eight-speed automatic transmission are a little bit more aggressive. For such a powerful car, Dodge did a nice job of tuning it to be actually pretty drivable. I just took a corner right there and the [00:01:30] steering offers you satisfying weight to your inputs. It's a little bit of a heavier steering, especially compared to some of the earlier generation Chargers. It's sporty, but it's not crazy. The design of the Dodge Charger is a critical element. That's why a lot of people buy this car, is it gives them that muscle car heritage look. The Hellcat has some special design cues that are also functional. You've got a couple of extra air intakes up front, keeps everything cool and breathing, the air flowing through; a nice spoiler in back [00:02:00] that helps keep the aero, and the downforce keeps you on the ground. The HID projector headlights really pop, especially at night, and in back you've got the LED taillights that spread out wide across the back end of this car like some of the great Chargers of the past. This car rolls on 20-inch black wheels with a spiderweb design. I think they look good. They're kind of low-key, which I think is great.
