I picked this truck up about 2 weeks ago from a guy here on the west coast. He had bought it 13 years ago from a neighbor who's husband had just passed and he was going to fix it up and drive it. Well, 13 years later he decided to finally clean it up, get it running and shoot some paint on it!  That's when I came into the picture and here we are in 2014.

The truck has a small block 318 in it with a 3-speed automatic transmission. I have never really cared for the old dodge trucks, but I have to tell ya I have really thought about keeping this thing.  It is just a really fun truck to drive around in and hang your arm out the window. It's solid, it steers good and it brakes good.  The little 318 smokes and makes some valve noise when you first fire it up cold, but actually runs pretty good once warmed up.  It also leaves some oil and water on the floor when it sits for a while. Honestly, you could either drive it as is, or it could use an overhaul to freshen it up.

The 3-speed transmission shifts well and seems to do fine.

It could use shocks all the way around it as they are all pretty soft.

The 70 year old guy I bought it from painted it, but I think he only had a quart of paint to start with. It looks great from 10'-15' away, but it is pretty thin in some spots and is blotchy in areas. It also waves at you when you look down both sides.

Like stated in the video, it is what it is, but is just a really cool pickup for a Mopar guy or anyone just wanting something different that isn't out there on the roads.

Drum brakes all the way around work good.

Manual steering, but it's actually pretty easy to steer.

Emergency brake works great.

Needs a headliner.

Glass is all good, but there is a rock chip in the front windshield.

The truck does have some very minor rust in a couple areas, but is overall very solid.

Doors and hood open and close very nice and easy.

New front turn signal lens should be here this week.

New exhaust system.

Tires are good.

A $500 non-refundable deposit is due via PayPal within 24 hours of winning. The remainder of the balance must be paid within 7 days of auction end via cashiers check or wire transfer. The faster you take care of business the faster you get your truck. It is your responsibility to set up transportation, but I will do anything I can do to help out. For shipping estimates I recently sent a truck to Phoenix for $900 and one to Illinois for $875 from Oregon here.

Upon receiving full payment, I will mail out the clear title by USPS Certified Mail which you will need to sign for upon delivery.

Any questions, let me know!

Thanks for looking........

Dodge idles Viper production again at Conner Avenue

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

You've got to hand it to Dodge for having the gumption to put the original Viper into production in the first place. It was, after all, much more of an emotional decision than a practical one, and a move which saw the first production V10 engine placed in a road car - long before the advent of the Lamborghini Gallardo, Audi R8, Porsche Carrera GT or Lexus LFA, not to mention the other Ford, BMW and Volkswagen Group models that used such engines.
It's now been 22 years since the first Viper entered production and the Viper still rolls on several generations later, but we're sad to say that courageous decision has not always been met with overwhelming sales success. In fact parent Chrysler was forced to idle the Conner Avenue plant where the Viper is made back in April due to slow sales. And while production resumed again as planned on June 23, it apparently didn't do the trick.
As a result, Chrysler corporate communications chief Shawn Morgan revealed to Autoblog that the assembly line has been shut down again for another two weeks. The line was up and running for nearly two full work weeks from June 23 until the holiday weekend that started on Thursday, July 3. But instead of coming back online today as planned, it's been idled again for the weeks of July 7 and 14. That means it will be July 21, at the earliest, before the serpentine supercars start slithering down the assembly line at Conner Avenue again. Once it does, however, production is set to resume at the same pace it was before the shutdown.

Dodge to reveal Hellcat-powered Challenger in Detroit?

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

On top of all the other performance car debuts slated for next week's Detroit Auto Show, we might be able to add one more to the list - the new, supercharged Hellcat V8 from Chrysler. According to new reports, the rumored 640-horsepower mill is likely to cross the Motor City stage in the engine bay of a Dodge Challenger.
As AllPar points out, though, there may be more news than just the fire-breathing engine. While we've seen spy photos of the Hellcat testing under the hood of the current Challenger, there's a very fair chance that it won't arrive until the muscle car is refreshed later this year. The question now is whether that refresh will be shown off alongside the new engine in Detroit, or if it'll be saved, perhaps for the New York Auto Show.
Other details dug up by AllPar include potential transmissions for the supercharged engine - the Mopar-minded site is expecting an eight-speed automatic or a Tremec six-speed manual. Prices, meanwhile, could be in the same elevated range as the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, at $70,000 to $80,000.

Dodge Durango to stay classy with Ron Burgundy as spokesperson [w/video]

Sat, 05 Oct 2013

The upcoming 2014 Dodge Durango has a lot of things going for it, including its 290-horsepower V6 and 360-hp Hemi V8 engine options, an eight-speed automatic and aggressive looks. And now it will have Ron Burgundy, the fictional television news anchor played by comedian Will Ferrell, as a spokesperson, Adweek reports. He follows in the footsteps of other non-fictional Chrysler brand spokespeople such as Eminem, Clint Eastwood and the late Paul Harvey.
Though the star of 2004's Anchorman and the upcoming Anchorman 2 is wildly popular, we're not sure we see a Dodge spokesperson in Burgundy. (Please, no womanizing or scotchy, scotch, scotch before test test drives). But at this point there's no turning back: Chrysler's chief marketing officer Olivier Francois previewed three ad spots at the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) Masters of Marketing conference in Phoenix on Friday, and says Chrysler has already filmed 68(!) Durango ads with the fictional newsman.
According to Adweek, one of the ads previewed had Burgundy highlighting the SUV's glovebox size, and in another he compared its horsepower to a white horse standing next to him. Will this help Dodge Durango sales improve? We can only wait and see. In the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts in Comments, and check out the trailer for Anchorman 2 below.
