The Dodge Demon is coming, an evil mutation of the Challenger SRT Hellcat
Thu, Jan 12 2017If there's one thing we'll take more of, it's Hellcat. Dodge's 707-horsepower supercharged V8 is a shining star of muscle car ideals. A panacea to the cylinder-count and displacement atrophy. And according to Dodge's new website, www.ifyouknowyouknow.com, a even crazier version of the Challenger SRT Hellcat is on the way. It's called the Dodge Demon. The website features a series of videos that reveal more and more details of the upcoming car. As of this writing, only the first teaser is available, title cage (and also seen above). The final video, and full reveal, of the car, coincides with the dates for the 2017 New York Auto Show. Details are scant at this point. The video, and the press release statement from FCA passenger car chief Tim Kuniskis, point to quarter-mile performance as the Demon's sole purpose in life. Said Kuniskis, "The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation." Mopar '13 Dart priced from $25,485*
Wed, 12 Jun 2013For the past few years, Chrysler's Mopar in-house tuning division has created its own one-off versions of several cars in the automaker's portfolio, including the Mopar '10 Challenger, Mopar '11 Charger and Mopar '12 300. For 2013, the black-and-blue up-do has been given to the new Dart compact, and Chrysler has announced that the limited-edition sedan is now available for order, priced from $25,485, not including *$995 for destination.
Like previous Mopar edition vehicles, the Dart is painted in a signature Pitch Black exterior with an offset blue racing stripe. The sedan sits seven millimeters lower to the ground and gets visual add-ons like a chin spoiler, decklid spoiler and rear diffuser, along with gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels.
Performance wise, the Dart's 1.4-liter MultiAir inline four-cylinder engine remains, producing 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Mopar car gets a sport-tuned exhaust system along with revised power steering calibration and beefier brakes.
NHTSA investigating Ram 1500 models for rear differential failure
Mon, 30 Jun 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and its Ram brand following a number of reports regarding the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. According to 15 consumer complaints, the trucks' rear differential locked up while in other cases, the driveshaft separated at its connection to the diff.
Nearly half of the reports claim the truck was traveling at or above 50 miles per hour, while two consumers reported that the diff lockup/driveshaft separation sent their pickups into a spin. Most troubling, though, is that consumers reported little to no sound indicating there was a problem with their truck.
We reached out to Ram for additional information, such as how many vehicles may be affected or what equipment might be fitted that could cause the issue. Unfortunately, the company wasn't willing to elaborate on specifics.
