Im selling my 2005 dodge ram 2500 quad cab slt. I bought this truck equipped with a hemi and it was tired. I decided the next best thing to do was to give her more power! I removed the engine and  replaced it with a 150k mile 12v cummins from a 1997 pickup. behind that is a 47rh equipped with a heavy duty(not billet) torque converter with shift kit. before I installed the engine I replaced the timing cover seals, the tappet cover gasket, valve cover gaskets.  unfortunately with this swap I could not get all the gauges to function, in the original cluster the only functional gauges are the speedo and fuel gauge. I installed an oil pressure gauge in the left heater vent and a triple pillar gauge pod with boost, egt, and fuel pressure(fuel pressure not hooked up). the a/c and cruise were also never reinstalled. other than the gauges the truck is great I have put 6k to 7k miles on it since the swap was completed, Don't get me wrong you may find some things that need to be tinkered with, remember it was a hemi!  I drive it daily on a 80 mile round trip averaging around 18 to 19 mpg.  IF your looking for a brand new truck,, this isn't it!  it runs and looks great, fires up everytime!

also the digital shift indicator in the cluster is non functional as the 47rh has no way for me to make it read. also if you know anything about this transmission swap then you know there are 2 ways to make the overdrive and torque converter lockup function, I opted to use toggle switchs mounted to the left of the steering column below headlamp switch,  overdrive at 40mph, and lockup at 50mph has been my rule of thumb.

in the last year ive owned this truck ive replaced the following with new parts! all tierods with updated steering , new steering box, new intermediate steering shaft, new steering box stabilizer, new balljoints, dual steering stabilizers, front and rear pads and rotors, new rear calipers, bilstein front shocks,

truck has 2'' leveling kit in front, 1'' block in rear, Kelly safari tsr 315-70-17 with almost 3/4 life left, and dick cepek rims

exhaust is a 4''turbo back no muffler, sounds badass.

body has its typical scratchs for a truck this age, there is a dent/tear by the right headlamp about 3inch long, a soft dent behind right fender flare, rust spot along passenger side of hood, rust spot about 6in long on top of passenger door, rear bumper has rust but is hard to tell its painted black,

I would not be scared to drive this truck anywere,

interior is pretty clean, could use a recon, there is a rip on the edge of driver seat which ive had seat covers on since I bought it,

transfer case is a 271d, driveshafts are freshly balanced and rear has new u joints,

body has 190k, cluster says 124k, engine has 150k and trans was said to have 97k when swapped,

any questions feel free to text me at 607-201-8520

but DONT text me and ask if a/c and cruise can be installed or if I can make the tach work, cuz I cant,.

this truck is driveable as I do drive it almost everyday!!  it is not a piece of crap, don't assume that, its an  awesome truck , work truck, project truck, or just drive it daily the way it is,

it passes ny inspection , but I DO NOT  know it will pass inspection in other states. , no muffler, no cat, no computer,

here it gets inspected as a 3/4 ton truck which is safety only.

Our interview with Jeremy Clarkson and James May, plus SEMA! | Autoblog Podcast #491

Fri, Nov 4 2016

This week, David Gluckman and Mike Austin talk SEMA madness, mis-aligned steering wheels, wireless charging, McLarens (they're sports cars!), and decals. We also have an excerpt from a recent interview with James May and Jeremy Clarkson of The Grand Tour and Top Gear fame. As always, we talk about a variety of cars we've been driving and then respond to some questions from listeners. And as a bonus, there's a trivia question mixed in. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want questionable buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. Oh, and please send trivia questions! You'll get the honor of stumping your fellow listeners, and we'll thank you too. FCA goes all-in on Jeep and Ram brands on cheap gas bet

Wed, Jan 27 2016

It's no surprise that as SUV and truck sales remain strong in the wake of unusually cheap gas, Jeep and Ram sales are taking off. What is a surprise is that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne thinks that cheap gas will be a "permanent condition," and feels strongly enough about it to change up North American manufacturing plans. Jeep appears to be the biggest beneficiary of the product realignment. In addition to increasing the sales estimates for the brand worldwide upwards to 2 million units a year by 2018, the brand will get a flood of investment for new product and powertrains. Consider the Wrangler Pickup to be part of the salvo, as well as the Grand Wagoneer three-row announced in 2014 as part of the original five-year plan. The Wrangler four-door will get at least two new powertrains, a diesel and mild hybrid version, in its next generation. That mild hybrid powertrain may utilize a 48-volt electrical system like the one that's being developed by Delphi and Bosch – which the suppliers think will be worth a 10 to 15 percent fuel economy gain at a minimum. Down the road, in the 2020s, the Wrangler could adopt a full hybrid system. The diesel powertrain is planned for 2019 or 2020. The Ram 1500 is also pegged to receive a mild hybrid system, again potentially based on 48-volt architecture, sometime after 2020. Lastly, Jeep and Ram will take over some of the production capacity of existing plants. The Sterling Heights, MI, plant that builds the Chrysler 200 will now build the Ram 1500; the Belvidere, IL, facility that produces the Dodge Dart will take over Cherokee output; the big Jeep facility in Toledo, OH, will be used for increased Wrangler demand. In 2015, according to FCA's numbers, car and van demand went down by 10 percent, but SUV demand went up 8 percent and truck demand 2 percent. Considering that these are high-margin vehicles, FCA can't ignore the math. FCA also won't build any new factories to supplement production to meet demand, but instead are reshuffling production priorities. Think of it this way: FCA is gambling on cheap gas being a permanent part of our lives, at least into the 2020s. By doubling down on SUVs and trucks, the company stands to win big, unless a spike in gas prices changes the landscape. FCA isn't talking about a Plan B, so they're all in. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.
