Up for sale is my 2005 Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4X4 with the 5.7 Hemi under the hood and 95,403 miles. The truck has been well maintained and never beaten, I've hauled my family and ski mobiles with it for the past several years. It has a few dings and minor dents but looks nice and shiny with 20” chrome rims. The truck is all stock, nothing is modified. In the past 1000 miles the front tires were replaced and it had new platinum plugs installed. The battery is on its second year and the brakes are still OK but will need to be done in the next several thousand miles. Same for the rear tires, they're OK but put new ones on when you can. The exhaust is fine, shocks and suspension OK, the interior is good with only minor wear and no rips or spills.

Why am I selling? For cost cutting reasons I am shrinking my fleet. I have a mini van daily driver, a Jeep and a Road Runner in the garage so the truck simply hasn't been getting much use this year. The van is better on gas and I simply don't have the time to keep up with it or the money to keep it registered and insured. It is currently unregistered; I do have a clean title in hand. Come see it and you'll be impressed, feel free to run a Carfax on it, too. I had a very minor accident a couple of years ago where I backed into the door of a parked import at slow speed (5mph). The door on the import was dented but it literally did nothing to the truck at all. My insurance fixed the other car but the truck was unharmed. It really looks as nice in person as it does in pictures.

The catch: none but in the interest of full disclosure the check engine light is on. I threw a code reader on it and it's telling me that both oxygen sensors on the driver's side bank are faulty. I priced them out and they're about $20 to $30 each so no big deal. Talking to a mechanic friend of mine he said that if it isn't the sensors it could be the catalytic converter and I priced that out to about $150 or so. If you can turn wrenches yourself or have a mechanic that can do it then you'll have a very nice truck for the money, far less than you'll find anywhere else. It has been maintained but not garaged and it hasn't been on the streets since before Halloween. I hate to see it go but I haven't the time or money for it so first person with cash takes it.

No personal checks and any bank checks have to clear before I hand over keys or title. No foreign sales, either, so if you're foreign Royalty that has a deal just for me then you shouldn't waste your time. It's out of the way so it can stay until you have registered it to drive it home.

$500 deposit via PayPal due within 48 hours of sale. This truck is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early should it sell.

Dodge Challenger Hellcat valet mode angers parking attendant

Thu, Mar 10 2016

I spent over three years as a valet. It was good money and an excellent second job when I was getting my start as a writer – ten hours per week at the small restaurant I worked for was good for anywhere from $150 to $250. Over those years, I can say with absolute confidence I never goofed off in someone's car. Unfortunately, not all valets are so trustworthy. Like these idiots. Apparently, a Dodge Challenger Hellcat owner captured the valets at Universal Studios in Florida on his dashcam messing about behind the wheel of his 707-horsepower muscle car. One valet is behind the wheel and there's another riding shotgun as they aimlessly wander about the parking lot, lamenting the fact that the owner (wisely) engaged valet mode before handing over the keys. "We can't do anything," they whine. The owner, for his part, seemed pretty cool about the whole thing, writing in the YouTube description that he purposely kicked up the exposure at the end of the video to hide the identities of the valets. He also added that they didn't do anything wrong – this former valet agrees to disagree, based on the over four minutes it takes to actually park the car – and that he was thankful for valet mode. You can check out the video above – be warned, though, there is some language in it. And remember, if you valet your car, use valet mode, check the odometer when you drop off and pick up, and if everything checks out, give the poor guys a tip. Want more recent Hellcat news? Stellantis is official: FCA and PSA merger finally sealed

Sat, Jan 16 2021

MILAN — Fiat Chrysler and PSA sealed their long-awaited merger on Saturday to create Stellantis, the world's fourth-largest auto group with deep enough pockets to fund the shift to electric driving and take on bigger rivals Toyota and Volkswagen. It took over a year for the Italian-American and French automakers to finalize the $52 billion deal, during which the global economy was upended by the COVID-19 pandemic. They first announced plans to merge in October 2019, to create a group with annual sales of around 8.1 million vehicles. "The merger between Peugeot S.A. and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. that will lead the path to the creation of Stellantis N.V. became effective today," the two automakers said in a statement. Shares in Stellantis, which will be headed by current PSA Chief Executive Carlos Tavares, will start trading in Milan and Paris on Monday, and in New York on Tuesday. Now analysts and investors are turning their focus to how Tavares plans to address the huge challenges facing the group – from excess production capacity to a woeful performance in China. Tavares will hold his first press conference as Stellantis CEO on Tuesday, after ringing NYSE's bell with Chairman John Elkann. FCA and PSA have said Stellantis can cut annual costs by over 5 billion euros ($6.1 billion) without plant closures, and investors will be keen for more details on how it will do this. Marco Santino, a partner at consultants Oliver Wyman, said he expected Tavares to disclose the outlines of his action plan soon, but without divulging too many details at first. "He has proven to be the kind of person who prefers action to words, so I don't think he will make loud statements or try to over-sell targets," he said. Like all global automakers, Stellantis needs to invest billions in the years ahead to transform its vehicle range for the electric era. But other pressing tasks loom, including reviving the group's lagging fortunes in China, rationalizing its huge global empire and addressing massive overcapacity. "It will be a step by step process, also to allow the market to better appreciate every single move. I don't think we will have all the details before one year," Santino said.

Dodge Viper might not live past 2017

Wed, Oct 14 2015

The Dodge Viper might be running out of venom because the muscle-bound sports car could be on the road to being cancelled in just a few years. According to Allpar, the proposed deal between the United Auto Workers and FCA US would close the Connor Avenue Assembly plant, which produces the Viper, in 2017. The proposed union contract doesn't give a reason for closing the factory, but the decision is understandable if frustrating. The plant was idled twice last year to reduce production of the Viper to match flagging demand. A $15,000 price cut for the coupe eventually allowed for a sales surge, but that appetite hasn't continued in 2015. From January through September of this year, the company has only moved 503 of the sports cars, down eight percent. To further spur demand, Dodge has employed a few other tactics like the 1 of 1 program for buyers to personalize their Vipers, and the introduction of the brutally track-focused ACR. In a world where high-end sports cars are continuing to get friendlier for both their drivers and the environment, the Viper remains a holdout with a big, naturally aspirated V10. Even with the addition of some electronic aids on the latest Vipers, the snake still demands respect from those behind the wheel. Respect is fine, but sales are what matter to FCA – and the harsh reality is that a lack thereof might force the Viper into retirement, whether we like it or not.
