2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Extended Cab Pickup 5.9l - No Reserve on 2040-cars
Silver Spring, Maryland, United States
2001 Dodge 1500 Laramie SLT. I am selling this truck because I no longer have use for it and it takes up driveway space. It runs great and looks great. We bought this vehicle new in 2000 and have enjoyed it ever since in light family duty. It was/is fully loaded and is still in remarkably good condition. There are a few small dings/scratches although far less than you would expect for a model year 2001 truck. There is a small dent at the upper right on the tail gate approximately 3 inches in diameter with no lost paint. If you are not at the right angle, you often do not see it. I've had at least 3 friends/neighbors express interest in buying this truck.
This truck came loaded with: leather, tilt steering, power seats, AM/FM/CD, cruise control, heated seats, full tow package, etc. Additionally, we added: running boards, Line-X bed liner, Sirius/XM (with remote control), and heavy duty Michelin truck tires (with plenty of tread). It was wired and rigged with air bag lifters to carry a truck camper as well. We never actually used a truck camper (since we bought a motorhome instead), but the airbag lifters have ben great for heavier loads like when we buy mulch and topsoil. This truck runs exceptionally well and had all of its scheduled service and has had the expected Dodge repairs/replacements, including: water pump, ball joints, and starter. It has a brand new Bosch battery. We put a on a custom dash replacement since the top of the dash board was cracking (as it does on all Dodge Rams). We also put matching seat covers in the front to cover light cracking but left the leather backs uncovered since they are in very good condition. It passed the Maryland vehicle emissions test. I took this truck to Carmax where they offered $2000, which is far less than its value. I am setting the starting bid at that $2000 with NO RESERVE. Carmax graded everything on the truck as "GOOD." I thought I smelled coolant so when I had the battery replaced at Pep Boys, I had them do a pressurized coolant leak test. There were no leaks and they said they were impressed with the mechanical condition of the truck. The map lights and heated seats do not work. I suspect the seat issue may just be a wiring problem. The map lights never bothered me enough to repair since the overhead light does work. Again, this is a great truck with low mileage. It has always served us well and will serve you well. |

2013 Dodge Durango R/T
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Not too long ago, Chevrolet got itself into some trouble by throwing the SS badge on just about everything it produced, so I've always been a little hesitant about the seemingly excessive use of the R/T nameplate on Dodge vehicles. For the 2013 model year, every model in Dodge's lineup has an R/T trim level from Dart all the way up to the Durango. Although the R/T name used to signified models made for road and track, I doubt anyone would be delusional enough to assume the Durango - and some of the other models wearing this badge - are suited for any sort of track duty.
Still, when this 2013 Dodge Durango R/T rolled up for me to drive for the week, I couldn't help but take in its big, mean and imposing stance. Sure, if I had my choice of buying any of the Dodge R/T products, the Charger and Challenger would be my top picks for sure, but it's easy to say that the Durango would be a close third - far above the R/T versions of the Avenger, Journey and Grand Caravan.

NHTSA investigating Chrysler for airbags, ignition switches
Wed, 18 Jun 2014Chrysler is being targeted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a pair of actions that focus on over 1.2 million Jeeps, minivans and crossovers.
The first is a "preliminary investigation" that focuses on an airbag issue afflicting the Jeep Commander built in model years 2006 and 2007 and Grand Cherokee from 2005 to 2006. In total, 700,000 vehicles could potentially be affected. It's not entirely clear what the airbag issue is, with The Detroit Free Press simply stating that the restraint systems in the affected Jeeps may be "faulty."
The other investigation is what's called a "recall query" and it covers a problem that General Motors should be familiar with. In this case, there could be a problem with the ignition switches of 525,000 vehicles, ranging from 2008 to 2010 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans, to the 2008 to 2010 Dodge Journey crossover. Again, it's not entirely clear what sort of behavior prompted the 32 complaints that NHTSA has received on these vehicles.
All-wheel-drive Dodge Challenger GT confirmed by EPA website
Thu, Oct 27 2016The US Environmental Protection Agency accidentally confirmed the upcoming Dodge Challenger GT by posting fuel economy figures for the all-wheel-drive variant of the muscle car. According to FuelEconomy.gov, the Challenger GT, which will come with the 3.6-liter V6 when it's released, is rated to get 18 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway, giving the vehicle a combined rating of 21 miles per gallon. Those figures are slightly lower than the rear-wheel-drive Challenger with the same engine, which gets 19 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. While previous reports indicated that Dodge is planning to release the all-wheel-drive Challenger GT sometime in 2017, the automaker hasn't confirmed the vehicle. (Mopar's all-wheel-drive concept from last year's SEMA Show is pictured above.) With the EPA putting out the car's official fuel economy figures, the all-wheel-drive muscle car is definitely coming, and should be here before the entire Challenger lineup gets its expected redesign in 2018. And yes, we're still hopeful that the so-called Challenger ADR we saw in spy photos means we'll see all wheel drive and Hellcat power. Because Hellcat everything. Related Video:
