Dodge Power Wagon Power Giant W100, Restored To Original, Shortbox, 4x4, Truck on 2040-cars

Year:1958 Mileage:300
Location:

Webster, Wisconsin, United States

Webster, Wisconsin, United States

1958 Dodge W100 Power Giant restored to original condition.  A ground up restoration was completed in 2011.  I have included a photo of the chassis during the restoration process so you can see that it was media blasted, painted and the freshly rebuilt 6 cylinder engine.  The truck is an early year production indicated by single headlamps.

Engine:  230 6 cylinder
Transmission: 3 speed column shift
Transfer case:  NP 91000 2 speed
Chassis:  108" wheel base (shortbox)
Gear ratio:  4.89:1
Differentials:  Spicer 44 front end and a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear end
Wheels:  17.5 x8
Paint:  Original colors:  Klondike Yellow and Sandel wood accent color
Radiator:  Honeycomb style

Extra factory equipment:  Inside rear view mirror, outside spare tire carrier, cigar lighter

Again this truck has been restored to original with exception to the wood bed.  Originally that was pine wood painted black.  I used oak wood and clear spar varnish, see photo.  The battery is a reproduction of the original, with caps.  Photo was taken when battery was out, battery does go with truck.  The speedometer was not turned back, but only  has about 300 miles on truck.  Also the photos may vary in color, I used two different cameras and for some reason colors appear to be brighter on one.

1958 was the second year dodge came out with a civilian style four wheel drive truck for the public.  This truck was originally intended to be a work truck, built very solid.  With a gear ratio of 4.89 the top speed is about 45mph.  This truck was originally a County Truck in Arizona, and sat in the desert for many years prior to my purchase of it.  The body only had light surface rust, no rusted panels.  I purchased it and began a complete restoration that took 6 years.  Close attention was given to keep everything as it would of been from the factory.

The truck runs and drives great, Very fun to drive around you will get thumbs up and lots of people wanting to stop and talk about it.  I have had so much fun showing this truck, great to show off a piece of our automotive history.

Has a clear Wisconsin title.

This truck has been a show truck, winning several awards including:

2011:  Featured in the Theme Tent at Iola Old Car Show
2012:  1rst Place in Original truck class at the Mopar Nationals, Columbus Ohio

2012:  BEST OF SHOW TRUCK at the Mopar Nationals, Columbus Ohio
             Chosen by Mopar Muscle Magazine
2013/2014:  Directors Choice at Mopars in the Park, Farmington MN.
In 2014 asked for the truck to be featured in Building, on display

This truck has won many other awards from small car shows,  Highest honors given to the truck at most in the Original truck class.

Also this truck has been used on 2 tee shirts for car shows:  The Mopar Nationals and Mopars in the Park used it for the tee shirt, poster and plaques.

Three magazines have featured this truck,  most recent Vintage Truck Magazine in the August 2014 issue.  Mopar Action and Mopar Muscle

This truck was also requested to be used in an add for a company that makes wood beds for trucks.

****If requested I can email photos of tee shirts, ad, plaque and poster. I tried to add them but pixels are too large

The temp gauge is not functioning as intended, all other gauges work.  Truck does not over heat, not sure if gauge went bad.

Only bid if you intend on purchasing the truck, if you have a score less than 100 please contact me prior to bidding.  I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  Inspections are welcome.
WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE END OF AUCTION A PAYMENT OF 2,000 DOLLARS will be required. Non refundable.  Any form of payment other than cash will be held until my Bank clears it, 10 days on checks.

I will not be liable for the truck once purchased and all sales are final, no warranties, garantees, sold as is.   Please call me with questions or send on through ebay.  715-416-0602

Are supercars becoming less special?

Thu, Sep 3 2015

There's little doubt that we are currently enjoying the golden age of automotive performance. Dozens of different models on sale today make over 500 horsepower, and seven boast output in excess of 700 hp. Not long ago, that kind of capability was exclusive to supercars – vehicles whose rarity, performance focus, and requisite expense made them aspirational objects of desire to us mortals. But more than that, supercars have historically offered a unique driving experience, one which was bespoke to a particular model and could not be replicated elsewhere. But in recent years, even the low-volume players have been forced to find the efficiencies and economies of scale that formerly hadn't been a concern for them, and in turn the concept of the supercar as a unique entity unto itself is fading fast. The blame doesn't fall on one particular manufacturer nor a specific production technique. Instead, it's a confluence of different factors that are chipping away at the distinction of these vehicles. It's not all bad news – Lamborghini's platform sharing with Audi for the Gallardo and the R8 yielded a raging bull that was more reliable and easier to live with on a day-to-day basis, and as a result it went on to become the best-selling Lambo in the company's history. But it also came at the cost of some of the Italian's exclusivity when eerily familiar sights and sounds suddenly became available wearing an Audi badge. Even low-volume players have been forced to find economies of scale. Much of this comes out of necessity, of course. Aston Martin's recent deal with Mercedes-AMG points toward German hardware going under the hood and into the cabin of the upcoming DB11, and it's safe to assume that this was not a decision made lightly by the Brits, as the brand has built a reputation for the bespoke craftsmanship of its vehicles. There's little doubt that the DB11 will be a fine automobile, but the move does jeopardize some of the characteristic "specialness" that Astons are known for. Yet the world is certainly better off with new Aston Martins spliced with DNA from Mercedes-AMG rather than no new Astons at all, and the costs of developing cutting-edge drivetrains and user interfaces is a burden that's becoming increasingly difficult for smaller manufacturers to bear. Even Ferrari is poised to make some dramatic changes in the way it designs cars.

For his last act, Marchionne will outline an EV/hybrid roadmap this week

Wed, May 30 2018

MILAN/LONDON — Fiat Chrysler (FCA) boss Sergio Marchionne is expected to outline new plans for electric and hybrid cars in a strategy presentation on Friday, aiming to ensure the world's seventh-largest carmaker remains in the race in the absence of a merger. The 65-year-old will present FCA's strategy to 2022, his final contribution to the company he turned around and multiplied in value through 14 years of canny dealmaking. After failing to secure a tie-up he said was necessary to manage the costs of producing cleaner vehicles, Marchionne needs to show the group can keep churning out profits on its own, even as emissions rules tighten, SUV competition intensifies and worries around his succession abound. Marchionne had long refused to jump on the electrification bandwagon, saying he would only do so if selling battery-powered cars could be done at a profit. He even urged customers not to buy FCA's Fiat 500e, its only battery-powered model, because he was losing money on each sold. But Tesla's success and the need to comply with tougher emissions rules have forced Marchionne to commit to what he calls "most painful" spending. "FCA is way behind rivals in terms of hybrid and electric vehicles and they need to hit the accelerator to convince investors they can close that gap," said Andrea Pastorelli, a fund manager at 8a+ Investimenti. Germany's Volkswagen, Daimler, BMW and U.S. rivals GM and Ford have committed to spending billions of euros each in coming years to try produce profitable cars powered by cleaner fuels. FCA needs to present a clear roadmap, just like Volvo Cars, which ditched diesel from its best-selling XC60 SUV, launched a new electric brand and pledged to shift all brands to hybrid by 2019, a banking source close to FCA said, noting: "The tech divide determines winners and losers in the industry." Marchionne has already said half of the wider FCA fleet will incorporate some elements of electrification by 2022, while luxury marque Maserati will spearhead FCA's electrification drive by making all new models due after 2019 electric. But its plans remain vaguer and less advanced than most big rivals and some investors wonder about the capital required to make vehicles compliant, and what share of spending can go to electrification given FCA's numerous demands.

Dodge to reveal Hellcat-powered Challenger in Detroit?

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

On top of all the other performance car debuts slated for next week's Detroit Auto Show, we might be able to add one more to the list - the new, supercharged Hellcat V8 from Chrysler. According to new reports, the rumored 640-horsepower mill is likely to cross the Motor City stage in the engine bay of a Dodge Challenger.
As AllPar points out, though, there may be more news than just the fire-breathing engine. While we've seen spy photos of the Hellcat testing under the hood of the current Challenger, there's a very fair chance that it won't arrive until the muscle car is refreshed later this year. The question now is whether that refresh will be shown off alongside the new engine in Detroit, or if it'll be saved, perhaps for the New York Auto Show.
Other details dug up by AllPar include potential transmissions for the supercharged engine - the Mopar-minded site is expecting an eight-speed automatic or a Tremec six-speed manual. Prices, meanwhile, could be in the same elevated range as the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, at $70,000 to $80,000.
