very unique ratrod here. it started out as a 1963 dodge m37 weapons carrier but has been morphed with a 1966 olds toronado to make a rear engine rat rod that gets lots of attention. I will try and explain how we put this together and hopefully the pics will show the rest but you can ask any questions if you are unsure about anything. the engine and transmission are pretty much all original other than the chrome etc.. runs great. we removed the entire front frame clip from the toronado all the way back to the crossmember where torsion bars attach. the steering was centered and the pitman arm was welded to frame and additional braces were added to hold steering linkage still. this way tie rod adjustments can be made for fine tuning the wheel angles if needed. we then notched m37 frame to fit and set it down over toronado frame clip welding wherever it was close enough to weld and adding reinforcement braces down each side. the frame is very solid now maybe even a bit heavier than it needs to be. it will handle enough torque to even pull the front wheels off the ground occasionally under hard acceleration. for the front suspension we used a whole crosmember from a 1976 chevy half ton truck and it pretty much bolted right in. the radiator with and electric fan is mounted in its original position up front and water is piped through metal tubes back to engine.. holds almost 7 gallons on antifreeze so very unlikely to have cooling problems even if fan didn't work. the vehicle is roadworthy as it is, could use some tires, but all lights, steering etc good, brand new brakes all around, new calipers, wheel cylinders, mastercylinder etc. seats were recovered. I have original military canvas top that needs to be installed. it is in good shape, but may need to be wet and stretched to fit just right. I also have a tailgate and a new set of headers that are made to go straight up like on a boat that I will let go with it. it has a good set of torque thrust wheels 5x5 on it. needs doorglass and has 1 cracked windshield The state of GA does not issue title on vehicles this old so this truck will be sold with bill of sale and GA registration which is all that's required to get a title in another state. you can verify this with your DMV if you'd like.

Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout
Mon, 03 Nov 2014Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.
NHTSA investigating 110,000 Ram 2500s and 3500s, one death alleged
Fri, 23 May 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation focusing on 110,000 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups from model years 2004 to 2006. One death has already been reported, according to NHTSA, due to a potential fault with the clutch interlocks on manual-transmission versions of the heavy duty pickup.
According to the report, these trucks can be started without depressing the clutch. There have been three reports so far, and as we mentioned above, one very sad incident seems to have resulted in the death of a child.
"One complaint involved an incident that occurred when a child was able to enter the vehicle and start the ignition without depressing the clutch. The vehicle then moved forward striking another child resulting in a fatality," NHTSA said in the investigation bulletin, which you can view below.
Mopar teases four of 'nearly 20' SEMA Show concepts
Fri, Oct 23 2015Yesterday it was Chevrolet. Today, Mopar has dropped some SEMA knowledge, releasing a quartet of teaser images that give us some indication of what kind of cars, trucks, and crossovers Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram will be showing in Las Vegas. Like Chevy, Mopar's concepts utilize both production and concept accessories, although Fiat Chrysler has gone a bit more indepth on at least one of its concepts. Immediately, the most tantalizing teaser is the one shown above. Yes, that's the back of a Challenger, and aside from the bright orange accents on the gray body, you should take notice of the badge mounted on the spoiler – yes, that says "GT AWD." To be honest, such a vehicle wouldn't be a huge shock, as both the Challenger's LX platform-mates, the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300, are offered with all-wheel-drive options. Still, adding such a vehicle to the production cycle would give Dodge a leg up on the rear-drive only Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Aside from that concept, FCA has also released teasers of a Ram-based concept, a 300-based concept, and what we're guessing is a Fiat 500X. We can't wait to see what the actual Fiat concept has to do with kiteboarding. As for the 300 and Ram, there's not a lot of hints on what sort of styling details they'll contain. The Chrysler has additional LED accents and what we're guessing is matte blue paint, while the Ram is based on a Hemi-powered 1500 with Rebel styling cues. This is just a very tiny sample of Mopar's final SEMA roster, which include "hundreds" of parts. There should also be a total of 20 vehicles covering all four former Chrysler Group brands, as well as Fiat. Naturally, we'll have plenty to report on each vehicle once the SEMA show kicks off in the next couple weeks.
