Arlington, Virginia, United States
1993 Dodge Ram Intercooled W250 Cummins
Diesel 4x4 - 5 Speed Manual
(VIN: 1B7KM26C3PS119086) This vehicle is a “MADE
IN USA” 1993 INTERCOOLED 12-valve Cummins (many made in Mexico, the factory sticker will show legal MADE IN USA). With the exception of the $3000 NV-4500 5-Speed transmission upgrade,
it sits basically stock, as it came from factory. It has added a high quality $1200 sun/moon roof! HIGHLIGHTS! Dodge Ramcharger 250
CUMMINS (4WD; W250; DANA 70 REAR / DANA 60 FRONT TRANSAXLES). Also, front manual
locking hubs – Highly Desirable! Both DANA Front/Rear
have fresh royal purple 90/75 and 90/145 fluids. RARE Single Cab Long
Bed; 5 – SPEED Manual Transmission, with New South Bend Clutch. Very Clean. Chassis
(Rocker Panels, Floor Boards, Bed… 100% Rust Free. It also has added safety
feature, KDP (Killer Dowel Pin) Tab installed. Headliner is original with
a little slack. Never ever had a 5th
wheel and used primarily for light duty. · Many new parts including Borgeson steering column
upgrade and rebuilt steering box; alternator; new brake boost/ master cylinder; new wheel bearings and grease seals on front axle;
within last three months, new fuel filter,
K&N Air Filter and oil change (Rotella Diesel Oil). · All 100% functional holding 2015 Virginia
Inspection. Heater Block chord/element works and it is fully functional. Glow
plugs etc are great and starts in cold on a dime. That’s with no block heater ever
even used.
New windshield needed !
Recent hairline crack, see photo. Emergency brake cable
needs replacement. Mechanical – Vehicle has just under 115,000
miles and is basically all stock. Starts on the first revolution every time,
even in winter. This 12-Valve Cummins is
considered the simplest and, by many, the best Cummins and also considered
bulletproof by many; first generation Intercooled engine. It carries great oil
pressure cold. Transfer case and all 4x4 work very well. As stated, the Killer Dowel Pin (KDP) Tab has
already been done! Transmission is a NV-5400 upgrade from the stock
Getrag 360. It has low mileage and shifts smooth and correctly, Castrol Syntorq
Transmission Fluid purposefully overfilled by 1qt as recommended by Diesel
Forum members. Steering feels like new…
it is very tight as is entire front end. New ball joints and front suspension
parts. (play is what I would very minimal for one of these trucks (ALMOST
NONE)). It has good wheel
alignment and it does not pull left or right; drives straight down the
road. It is practically
smoke free, even at idle when cold. Oil was changed recently
and it is still on the “full” mark and clean. Rear main and front seals are
fine. There are basically
no leaks in the transmission, transfer case or differentials, also new shocks
(see truck side photos). Sits
level side to side. Front brakes have good pad left. Good solid brakes. It’s been very reliable. It has a new Flow master 3” exhaust
that sounds great. The undercarriage of the truck is clean in a way only a very
salt-free truck. She spent most of her life in the mid atlantic area, primarly
Maryland and Virginia. Very light use.
Body As stated, NO RUST. It looks great in pictures and
very good “in person”. Older but full bed removal / bare metal paint
restoration (retail $8000+ paint job in MB 050 pearl). It is an older
restoration! The truck has solid sheet metal. Fenderwells and rocker panels are
a main concern on these early cummins 12-valve trucks. These are Rust Free.
I.e. NO RUST AT ALL. Interior It is in quite good
stock condition. Headliner is ok. Door
panels and seats are absolutely excellent. No cracks or sun damage to dash. The seat shows quality and care of
interior. Power window and door
lock options. Interior lights and turn signals etc all work as new. It
is a non-smoker truck and has no cigarette burns or odor. The visors are in like-new shape and
stay right up against the headliner. There is no sun fade because it was
garaged most of it whole life.
Electrical/HVAC Very original electrical
system. All exterior
lights high/low beams work. Dome
light works, through the switch and function as it should, when doors are
opened. Electric windows and locks are stock and work as new. Horn works. Turn signals and flashers work. Heater works. Blower works on all 4 speeds. Gas gauge is accurate. Wipers and
washer work. All cosmetically and
functionally excellent.
All in all it is a good
solid truck. The reserve is
reasonable. I have a free and clear title in my name. The only reason i am selling this beast is i am getting an early racing ('73) porsche 911 and need the money. Feel free to check carfax
and autocheck. If you would
like to setup an appointment to see it in person you can. Wire transfer or cashier’s check, but
truck and title stay with me until it clears.

NHTSA investigating power modules on Chrysler Group SUVs and minivans
Mon, 29 Sep 2014The Center for Auto Safety is officially petitioning the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to begin scrutinizing alleged problems with the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on about 24 Chrysler Group SUVs and minivans. The advocacy group claims that the part's failure can cause affected vehicles to stall or not start at all. NHTSA is still looking into the accusations and deciding whether a full investigation is actually warranted.
The CAS petition claims at least 70 TIPM failures, but according to NHTSA, six of the complaints are for models that don't have the modules. In 34 of the reported cases, the vehicles refused to start, and in 17 of them the engine stalled. There were also two allegations of smoke and one of a fire. However, none of these affected airbag deployment or resulted in a crash.
This petition isn't the first TIPM-related problem for Chrysler Group. A recent report in the New York Times alleged that it found 240 complaints potentially related to the issue on NHTSA's website alone. In September, the automaker also recalled 230,760 examples worldwide (188,723 in the US) of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango replace the fuel pump relay circuit inside of the TIPM-7 with one external to the unit. The original part could allegedly cause the models to stall without warning. Even earlier, the company also recalled about 80,000 examples of the Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro in 2007 to have the module reprogrammed.
2013 Dodge Durango R/T
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Not too long ago, Chevrolet got itself into some trouble by throwing the SS badge on just about everything it produced, so I've always been a little hesitant about the seemingly excessive use of the R/T nameplate on Dodge vehicles. For the 2013 model year, every model in Dodge's lineup has an R/T trim level from Dart all the way up to the Durango. Although the R/T name used to signified models made for road and track, I doubt anyone would be delusional enough to assume the Durango - and some of the other models wearing this badge - are suited for any sort of track duty.
Still, when this 2013 Dodge Durango R/T rolled up for me to drive for the week, I couldn't help but take in its big, mean and imposing stance. Sure, if I had my choice of buying any of the Dodge R/T products, the Charger and Challenger would be my top picks for sure, but it's easy to say that the Durango would be a close third - far above the R/T versions of the Avenger, Journey and Grand Caravan.

Best car infotainment systems: From UConnect to MBUX, these are our favorites
Sun, Jan 7 2024Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried all car infotainment systems what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. For the most part, the various infotainment systems available all share a similar purpose. They aim to help the driver get where they're going with navigation, play their favorite tunes via all sorts of media playback options and allow folks to stay connected with others via phone connectivity. Of course, most go way beyond the basics these days and offer features like streaming services, in-car performance data and much more. Unique features are aplenty when you start diving through menus, but how they go about their most important tasks vary widely. Some of our editors prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based and chock full of boundary-pushing features. Others may prefer a back-to-basics non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best infotainment overall: UConnect 5, various Stellantis products Ram 1500 Uconnect Infotainment System Review If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu.
