1990 Dodge W250 Base Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 5.9l Cummins First Gen Diesel on 2040-cars
Providence, Utah, United States
This Truck is in overall good condition. I never thought in a million years that I would sell this truck because it is my baby, but circumstances have lead to my decision to sell it. It is not new or perfect by any-means. It will be sold as is. The motor runs amazing and I get really good fuel economy(the best is 23 mpg). The 1990 Cummins did not come with an inter-cooler. I had one installed from a 1992 dodge, so it does have an inter-cooler. While I was at it I had an HX-35 turbo installed, which a turbo that has a smaller fresh air side and a larger exhaust side. The turbo and inter-cooler were not installed to race and hot rod the truck, they were only installed for performance purposes only(better fuel economy, etc.) While the intercoller was being installed, I had the front cover of the motor removed and had the killer dowel pin fixed as a preventative measure. It had not worked itself out at all, but I had the washer put on it to hold it in place, all new seals were put on the front of the motor while this was done.
This truck will fire right up on a cold morning. In Utah it will get below zero, and the manifold heater works great and it will start right up on sub zero days. No cranking on anything. It is amazing how good it starts. This truck has been babied its whole life. I bought it from an older gentlemen that received it from his father as part of an inheritance. So it has been family owned its hole life. I have a note book with service records of all of the new parts that have been installed. A new high perfomance clutch was installed at 150,000 miles. The front and rear brakes and rotors were installed along with rear wheel seals, there is a history of all of the oil changes and there has been a few overhead valve adjustments. The brakes stop fine and everything, but they are not perfect. Maybe the front rotors could be turned to make it smoother or something, but they are fine. The paint looks good but it is not perfect either. There are some surface rust spots around the wheel wells, including under the cab on the drivers side door there is a hole the size of a quarter. The frame only has minimal surface rust there is no major rust. There are no leaks from the drivetrain. The only leak comes from the power steering gear box. This is a slow leak and it has leaked ever since i bought it. My intentions were to fix it, but the leak is so minimal that I just top off the power steering fluid everytime I change the oil and that has worked fin. It has a straight pipe exhaust, I do have the muffler somewhere if you would like that. It sounds good though, it is a real head turner. I get compliment all the time, and have guys offer to buy this truck from me everywhere I go. It has not pulled a lot of heavy loads in its life, although it is very capable. There is a trailer brake controller installed under the dash. I put the fifth wheel ball in the bed so I could pull a 5th wheel camp trailer and horse trailer occasionally. It was never abused when it was used to pull, but it pulls great and will pull anything. The interior is a great shape. The seat has had a cover on it its whole life. I took it off. There is a little bit of cracking in the side(not on the top where you sit) of the seat on the drivers side. Some of the plastic trim around the headliner has some cracking also. It is nothing major and it has been there the whole time I have owned it which is about 5 years. Whoever ends up with this old dodge will be one lucky individual and will get a hell of of a good truck that will last a really long time. I really hate to see it go. Here is a Video of the truck running(it is a cold start morning): Ebay will not let me post the link, but my youtube username is craigcanski so look it up on youtube |

Fiat brand chief reassigned then resigns amid flagging sales
Tue, Oct 13 2015Jason Stoicevich was replaced as head of the Fiat brand in North America just the other day. He was immediately reassigned to another job within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. But according to Automotive News, Stoicevich quit the new job – and the company altogether – the very next day. The development comes amidst flagging sales for the Fiat brand in America. The introduction of the awkward-looking 500L multi-purpose vehicle has been largely regarded as a sales disaster in the US. Despite having just introduced the new 500X into the growing crossover market, and an overall upward trend across FCA group sales, the Fiat brand's figures have been dropping all year. While the Italian brand's volume has fluctuated from month to month compared to last year's sales, the number of cars its dealers sells on an average day has been firmly in decline. Fiat's downward trend reflects a general tendency in the market towards larger vehicles at the expense of smaller ones. However, the powers that be in Auburn Hills evidently felt that a change of leadership was in order, so it placed Dodge chief Tim Kuniskis in charge of all the company's mass-market passenger-car brands – namely Dodge, Chrysler, and Fiat – and moved Stoicevich to running the group's fleet and small-business operations. Stoicevich remained in charge of the company's California Business Center, but it seems as though he was as dissatisfied with the switch as his superiors were with the performance of the brand over which he presided, and so he apparently elected to step down and leave the company.
Fiat Chrysler expands Takata airbag recall to 3.3M vehicles
Fri, Dec 19 2014Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is expanding its recall of vehicles equipped with Takata airbags, moving beyond Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands to the greater US, as well as Mexico, Canada and beyond. The affected vehicles, some 3.3 million in total, were built between 2004 and 2007, with many models, including the Dodge Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500, Durango and the Chrysler 300, having been affected by Chrysler's previous recall. Despite the somewhat alarming nature that comes with a recall of this many vehicles, it seems that Chrysler is moving more out of an abundance of caution (and federal pressure) than anything else, saying: "Neither FCA US, nor Takata Corporation, the supplier, has identified a defect in this population of inflators. These components also are distinct from Takata inflators cited in fatalities involving other auto makers. More than 1,000 laboratory tests have been performed on these components. All deployed as intended, but FCA US continues to study the suspect inflators, which are not used in the Company's current production vehicles." Owners of affected vehicles will be notified and asked to report to dealers for a free replacement driver's side airbag. Scroll down for the official press release from FCA. Statement: Global Air-Bag Inflator Replacement December 19, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC will replace driver's-side air-bag inflators in an estimated 3.3 million older-model vehicles worldwide, in an expansion of an ongoing regional field action. Neither FCA US, nor Takata Corporation, the supplier, has identified a defect in this population of inflators. These components also are distinct from Takata inflators cited in fatalities involving other auto makers. More than 1,000 laboratory tests have been performed on these components. All deployed as intended, but FCA US continues to study the suspect inflators, which are not used in the Company's current production vehicles. Outside of Florida, one of the areas covered by the original action, no FCA US vehicle has been linked to an air-bag deployment of the type that has raised public concern. Nevertheless, the Company is replacing the Takata components tied to that concern. FCA US is aware of one related injury involving one of its vehicles, an older-model sedan. It occurred in a southern Florida region marked by persistent, high, absolute humidity – a condition believed to be a contributing factor in the air-bag deployments under investigation.
Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set
Tue, Jul 19 2022Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.
