Up for auction is my 1986 dodge ramcharger 4x4.Before i get started the mileage on the odometer reads 60852 but considering that its 27 years old i figured that it has at least 100,000 miles on it so i just added a 1 in front of the 60852. OK, from the pictures you can see that this is not your ordinary looking ramcharger. I had cut the back end off and moved the tailgate forward to make it a short bed pickup.I didnt really have a need for a 4 wheel drive station wagon. This has been a really good truck to me, but im 55 and starting to downsize.I already have my 16 foot trailer listed for sale on another auction and without that i really wont have a need for this truck anymore. This is still my daily driver. There is a real lot to cover on this old truck so rather than going into long details i figure that i will just list all the good then all the bad and you can take it from there. The good as of last fall, 2 new front brake calipers,2 new front brake hoses, new front brake pads, all new U-joints including the ones on the front axle, battery is a little over a year old, starter is a little over a year old,Tires are about 2 years old with lots of tread left plus i have an extra set of 4 tires with no wheels that are in good shape that i am including, all 4 gas shocks are 2 years old, rear brakes 2 years old, tranny filter and fluid 1 year ago, transmission is good and strong, transfer case is good, driveshafts are in great shape, front and rear ends are good, new sway bar bushings 2 years ago, both front outer tie rod ends 2 years ago.frame is solid.I also have a couple of new ball joints and a new drag link for the truck that i never installed because there is nothing wrong with the ones on the truck.I just got a great deal on all the parts and figured i would need them eventually, anyways i am including them as well. There are also a set of 2000 lb adjustable overload springs on the rear and 1000 lb adjustable overload springs on the front, yeah when the truck is empty it rides pretty darn stiff but when towing 5 to 6000 lbs behind it those springs make it steady as a rock with now sway at all.Truck is also equiped with a very large tranny cooler. OK, now for the not so good,First of all as far as the body she looks pretty rough but it really isnt that bad, yeah there are some rust holes here and there but the body is very repairable (see pictures)More pictures are available upon request, just be specific on what areas you want pictures of. the engine is getting tired,it still runs fine and has good oil pressure and has never failed to start, even on the coldest winter mornings and towed my 16 foot trailer with no problem even when loaded with another truck on it or a massive load of firewood. But she is starting to burn a little oil and im sure the compression is getting lower than it should be but it doesnt knock or rattle so it would be a good engine for either a core or re-build.I do have another complete 318 used crate engine with only 30,000 miles on it that i am also including with this sale.I was going to put it in this summer but i just purchased a fixer upper house that is going to keep me busy for years to come and i just wont have the time to do the engine change. All the glass is good but the power windows dont work, the driver side window is unhooked from the regulator and i have a wood wedge that i remove to slide the window up and down.Driver side vent window cant be opened because the hinge on it is bad,if you open it ,it may just fall out.Ac doesnt work, cruise doesnt work, driver side inner door handle is broken but it does open from the inside.Door locks dont work, drivers side door panel missing, seats are in good shape but are not original.good spare tire, fabric on headliner is gone, dashboard is in good shape, horn works when it wants to.All lights and wipers work, heater control is stuck in the on position.Truck has a clear Michigan title.Well i guess that about it.Please feel free to ask all the questions you want, i will answer them promptly, usually within 30 minutes. To sum it up, even with the tired engine i still wouldnt hesitate to drive this truck anywhere, of course you cant push her 70 and 80 miles and hour anymore but if you keep it to around 55 to 60 mph you might even squeeze another year out of the engine before you need to change it.This would make a great truck for up north at someones camp or for trail riding or maybe even to restore.Well thanks for looking and have a great day.
Winning bidder to pay a $100.00 Non-Refundable deposit through Paypal within 24 hours of auction end.Balance to be paid in cash at time of pickup.Truck is to be picked up within 7 days of auction end unless previous arrangements have been made prior to bidding.

What does Jeep have cooking with this stretched Cherokee?

Mon, Feb 15 2016

Chrysler has been spotted testing what appears to be a stretched Jeep Cherokee prototype. Which seems odd, considering that Jeep already makes a Grand Cherokee, and that's an entirely different model. The question then is just what the company has in the works here. We don't know for sure – but we do have some ideas. We're anticipating a new Grand Wagoneer to serve as the brand's flagship model, but stretching the Cherokee's wheelbase to leapfrog the Grand Cherokee's would take more than eight inches – and stretching a "compact" platform to get there wouldn't seem to make a lot of sense. Alternatively Jeep could be looking to wedge a new model into its lineup in between the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, potentially offering a third row of seats and wearing the Wagoneer name - sans the "Grand" - as part of a new range of seven-seaters. Just what the point would be, however, when the Dodge Durango already offers three rows based on the same platform as the Grand Cherokee, is a bit of a mystery. Another possibility is that it's not a Jeep at all, but rather a Dodge. The brand is in need of a replacement for the current Journey, and we're also waiting to see what FCA does to replace the Grand Cherokee since it unveiled the Chrysler Pacifica to replace the Town and Country. More of a crossover approach could take the Cherokee's Compact US Wide (CUSW) platform as its starting point, but stretched like this prototype to offer more space. Whatever it is, we're sure this won't be the last we'll have seen of it, so watch this space. Related Video:

FCA recalls 570,000 SUVs from Jeep and Dodge over fire woes

Sun, Dec 27 2015

Fiat Chrysler US has issued two recalls covering a total of about 570,000 Jeep and Dodge models. The first concerns vanity mirror wiring in the Jeep Grand Cherokee from the 2011 and 2012 model years, and in Dodge Durango units built before September 12, 2012. The automaker recalled almost 900,000 units last year to repair the issue, then faced more issues this year when the fires continued in repaired vehicles. This new recall seeks to resolve the issue, FCA saying that the post-recall fires happened in a tiny percentage of vehicles equipped with a specific wiring package. This recall is for 352,831 total units in the US, another 26,478 in Canada, 13,037 in Mexico, and 84,330 internationally. No injuries or deaths have been reported. FCA says it will inform customers as to when they can schedule a service visit to remedy the issue. The second recall takes aim at 60,107 examples of the Jeep Compass and Patriot from the 2015 model year in the US, plus 5,755 in Canada, 3,351 in Mexico, and 23,995 in other markets. Those models could suffer from an out-of-position clamp on the power steering fluid line. The error could allow fluid to leak, increasing the risk of a fire if the fluid ends up on a hot surface. In the case of a complete loss of fluid, drivers will need to use a lot more effort to steer. The automaker reports no injuries or accidents, and will advise customers when to head to the dealer for service. Post-service overheating conditions were observed only in vehicles equipped with a certain wiring package. These vehicles were produced before Sept. 2, 2012.Affected are model-year 2011-2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs produced before Sept. 2, 2012. Wiring in the headliners of these vehicles will be secured with a new adhesive.
