1979 Dodge D-50 Sport V8

This Truck was built in 1987 by Merle Prusia a Boeing engineer from Washington. I am the third owner and it has sat most of its life in a garage by the first two owners.

- Carb is Holley street HP 750 cfm double pumper mechanical secondaries, (part # 0-82751) This carb has no choke tower but flows so much that it starts up just fine in cold weather without it. Looks MUCH than having a choke tower as well. (the carb is new 2k miles ago) The fuel manifold is a summit racing with a fuel pressure gauge.
- Exhaust is full length headers with 3 inch collectors and flowmaster 3 chamber mufflers. The pipes are 2.5 inches and only have 5k miles on them.

- 35 watt 8000k HID headlights with blacked out projector enclosures
- 1986 Technics tape deck with separate amp mounted under glove box. 6 1/2 " Panasonic 2 way speakers in door.

Nitrous system (currently unhooked)
- Genuine NOS brand 150 hp cheater system
- 10 lb bottle mounted in the truck bed (is full of Nitrous)
- Both solenoids for gas and Nitrous are mounted in engine compartment
- Needs a WOT switch attached to the carb, wiring for the switch is already in place with a toggle switch on the dash to activate system
- Spray plate mounted between carb and manifold
- Extra NOS jets included.
- There is a fuel to air ratio indicator mounted on the steering wheel that uses a sensor mounted in the passenger side header (there is a hole in the header that is plugged where the sensor goes)
- Currently the gas mixture hose is unhooked and the cam will probably need retarded if you want to use the NOS

Issues
- Needs a new fuel sender unit, gas gauge only starts registering when tank is half full and up.
- Speedo registers 15 mph faster than actual speed. Needs a 21 tooth C4 speedo drive gear (very easy to change)
- Has three small exhaust leaks, two small holes in the drivers side header that need welded, and one at the head of the passenger side.
- The driver's side tire has a bald spot on it from being driven on accidentally when it was somewhat deflated.
- Prop rod needed as hood struts are shot

2015 Dodge Challenger gets 6.4L 485-HP V8 Scat Pack

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

While it's not seeing the drastic facelift of its brother, the Charger, at the 2014 New York Auto Show, the 2015 Challenger is packing some upgrades of its own. It wears even more retro-inspired styling cues, and there are new 6.4-liter Scat Pack and Shaker trims.
If you thought the Challenger looked retro before, Dodge is taking things even farther with inspiration for the refresh coming from the iconic 1971 model. Up front, it has a new split grille, a larger power bulge in the hood and projector fog lights. At the rear, the classic inspiration continues with split LED taillights with Gloss Black trim, and a rear valance panel redesigned to make the 2015 model look wider and lower.
The '71 motif is carried inside as well with a high-sill center console and aluminum gauge bezels. There's still more than a touch of modernity, with an available 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system and 7-inch customizable display between the retro-inspired speedometer and tachometer. For better safety, the Challenger is also now available with forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross path detection. Stability control and electric power steering are standard across all models too.

A car writer's year in new vehicles [w/video]

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Christmas is only a week away. The New Year is just around the corner. As 2014 draws to a close, I'm not the only one taking stock of the year that's we're almost shut of. Depending on who you are or what you do, the end of the year can bring to mind tax bills, school semesters or scheduling dental appointments. For me, for the last eight or nine years, at least a small part of this transitory time is occupied with recalling the cars I've driven over the preceding 12 months. Since I started writing about and reviewing cars in 2006, I've done an uneven job of tracking every vehicle I've been in, each year. Last year I made a resolution to be better about it, and the result is a spreadsheet with model names, dates, notes and some basic facts and figures. Armed with this basic data and a yen for year-end stories, I figured it would be interesting to parse the figures and quantify my year in cars in a way I'd never done before. The results are, well, they're a little bizarre, honestly. And I think they'll affect how I approach this gig in 2015. {C} My tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015 it'll be as high as 73. Let me give you a tiny bit of background about how automotive journalists typically get cars to test. There are basically two pools of vehicles I drive on a regular basis: media fleet vehicles and those available on "first drive" programs. The latter group is pretty self-explanatory. Journalists are gathered in one location (sometimes local, sometimes far-flung) with a new model(s), there's usually a day of driving, then we report back to you with our impressions. Media fleet vehicles are different. These are distributed to publications and individual journalists far and wide, and the test period goes from a few days to a week or more. Whereas first drives almost always result in a piece of review content, fleet loans only sometimes do. Other times they serve to give context about brands, segments, technology and the like, to editors and writers. So, adding up the loans I've had out of the press fleet and things I've driven at events, my tally for the year is 68 cars, as of this writing. Before the calendar flips to 2015, it'll be as high as 73. At one of the buff books like Car and Driver or Motor Trend, reviewers might rotate through five cars a week, or more. I know that number sounds high, but as best I can tell, it's pretty average for the full-time professionals in this business.

Chrysler to accelerate production of 2013 Ram and V6 engines

Fri, 16 Nov 2012

Chrysler is adding a third shift at its Warren Truck plant to meet demand for the new 2013 Ram pickup. And with tight supplies of its Pentastar V6, the company is also boosting output at its Mack Engine plant.
The expansions will add 1,250 jobs and are part of a $238 million investment by Chrysler in the Detroit area. Warren's third shift will begin work sometime in the spring, a Chrysler rep told Automotive News. Mack's increased Pentastar production a could include both 3.6 and 3.2-liter engines.
The company says it also plans to invest $40 million in its Trenton Engine plant to allow for production of a 3.2-liter V6 as well as the Tigershark inline-four for the upcoming Jeep Liberty replacement.
