1979 Dodge D-50 Sport V8

This Truck was built in 1987 by Merle Prusia a Boeing engineer from Washington. I am the third owner and it has sat most of its life in a garage by the first two owners.

Engine:
- Ford 302 V8: 10k miles on the bottom end, 2k miles on the top. Fully balanced and blueprinted.
- Bored .030" over with forged flat top pistons
- Block to head surface decked and trued to crank centerline
- Main bearing center line checked for trueness
- Performance crank kit with peened rods, ARP bolts and cleveite 77 bearings
- Heads are cast Iron 69 351 Windsor large ported and polished, completely rebuilt with new seals, 1.94 intake valves, 1.60 exhaust, hardened seats, screw in rocker bolts and adjusters 2k miles ago, comp cams dual springs ( part # 987-16), comp cams hardened retainers and keepers, Lunati voodoo 1.7 ratio roller rockers (part # 85400-1).
- Camshaft is Comp Cams hydraulic roller Magnum (Part # 31-452-8) overall lift of .578 with 1.7 roller rockers. The idle is a very lumpy and systematic (new 2k miles ago)
- Lifters are comp cams retro fit linked roller lifters (part # 8931-16) (new 2k miles ago)
- Push rods are Comp Cams hardened Chromoly (new 2k miles ago)
- Timing chain is Edelbrock performer True double roller (part # 7811) (new 2k miles ago)
- Intake manifold is edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap (part # 7521) this has an air gap underneath the carb providing a cooler air/ fuel mixture and racier look. (New 2k miles ago)
- Carb is Holley street HP 750 cfm double pumper mechanical secondaries, (part # 0-82751) This carb has no choke tower but flows so much that it starts up just fine in cold weather without it. Looks MUCH than having a choke tower as well. (the carb is new 2k miles ago) The fuel manifold is a summit racing with a fuel pressure gauge.
- Exhaust is full length headers with 3 inch collectors and flowmaster 3 chamber mufflers. The pipes are 2.5 inches and only have 5k miles on them.
- Water pump is an edelbrock high performance (part # 8843)
- Oil pump is high flow with the bolts wired to keep them from coming loose.
- Ignition is a Mallory Unilite Electronic with mechanical advance (part # 3755101), the coil is a Mallory Promaster E series 51,000 Voltz (part# 30440) Has a tube ducted from the grill to cool it.
- Transmission is a race built Ford C4 completely rebuilt 5k miles ago, has a 3500 stall converter, It is cooled with a remote cooler mounted under the truck bed with a special housing to duct air through it, also has a special oil pan with built in cooling tubes. Also has a shift kit allowing the driver to shift through all the dears individually.
- Radiator is a custom built 4 core with dual electric cooling fans.
- Alternator was replaced two weeks ago.
- Air filter is a genuine k & n with a filter top on it.
- Valve covers are edelbrock elite aluminum.
- Brand new starter solenoid

Body and Chassis:
- Truck is original "sport " package with race interior and seats (yes the seats were a factory option and are not aftermarket)
- Custom made folding center console (has storage and folds up to fit 3 people (tightly))
- Lowered 4" in front and 3" in back
- Special fabricated lowering block to obtain correct driveline to differential angle
- Poly bushings used throughout
- 1 inch addco sway bars used in the front AND the rear
- Dual shocks in the front (2 shocks per side)
- Narrowed Ford 9" posi-trac rear end with 3.25 highway gears
- Front and rear power disc brakes (rear brakes have new rotors)
- Slapper style traction bars in the rear
- 35 gallon chevy van gas tank custom mounted under truck bed
- This truck has a full length frame with a 2" trailer hitch welded directly to the frame with a 4 wire tail light hookup
- Fiberglass ground effects kit
- Engine compartment is lined with polished aluminum panels
- 15" American racing chrome wheels, 5 lug on back, 6 lug on front.
- Brand new rear tires, Front tires have 5k miles on them but drivers side has a bald spot on it due to it accidentally being driven on while somewhat deflated.
- Tinted windows
- 35 watt 8000k HID headlights with blacked out projector enclosures
- 1986 Technics tape deck with separate amp mounted under glove box. 6 1/2 " Panasonic 2 way speakers in door.

Nitrous system (currently unhooked)
- Genuine NOS brand 150 hp cheater system
- 10 lb bottle mounted in the truck bed (is full of Nitrous)
- Both solenoids for gas and Nitrous are mounted in engine compartment
- Needs a WOT switch attached to the carb, wiring for the switch is already in place with a toggle switch on the dash to activate system
- Spray plate mounted between carb and manifold
- Extra NOS jets included.
- There is a fuel to air ratio indicator mounted on the steering wheel that uses a sensor mounted in the passenger side header (there is a hole in the header that is plugged where the sensor goes)
- Currently the gas mixture hose is unhooked and the cam will probably need retarded if you want to use the NOS

Issues
- Needs a new fuel sender unit, gas gauge only starts registering when tank is half full and up.
- Speedo registers 15 mph faster than actual speed. Needs a 21 tooth C4 speedo drive gear (very easy to change)
- Has three small exhaust leaks, two small holes in the drivers side header that need welded, and one at the head of the passenger side.
- The driver's side tire has a bald spot on it from being driven on accidentally when it was somewhat deflated.
- Prop rod needed as hood struts are shot

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat's 707 storming horses can be yours for $60k

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

We love a good deal on high performance. It's what traditionally makes muscle cars so appealing - you get lots of speed, for not a lot of money. For 2015, Dodge has taken this to its logical extreme, offering its new 707-horsepower, supercharged, V8-powered Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat for just $59,900. For those wondering, that works out to just about $85 per horsepower, which when compared with a typical budget performance car, like the $24,995, 210-hp Volkswagen GTI ($119 per hp), demonstrates the Hellcat's astonishing value.
The information was revealed by a photo (click on the inset image to expand) taken at this week's Portland launch event (our man Seyth Miersma is just now on the ground and will have a full report on the madness that is the Hellcat soon) for the entire 2015 Challenger range, and reveals the Hellcat's price alongside its high-powered competitors from Ford and Chevrolet.
The discontinued 662-hp Mustang GT500 started at $56,000, while the 580-hp Camaro ZL1 starts off at $58K. Indeed, the only muscle car that outprices the Hellcat is the track-focused Camaro Z/28, a car that we're guessing could still wallop the Hellcat on the right piece of track, despite being down over 200 hp.

Junkyard 1983 Dodge Rampage has Franco-American roots

Mon, Jun 20 2016

Lee Iacocca and the K-Cars get most of the credit for saving Chrysler after the company's 1979 bailout by the US government, but the success of the Simca-derived Omnirizon platform was a large, if overlooked, component of Chrysler's early-1980s resurgence. The Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon were sold in the United States for the 1978 through 1990 model years, and variants included the 1983-1987 Dodge Charger and the Rampage, this well-worn example of which I spotted in a Denver self-service wrecking yard last week. The early Omnirizons came with a Volkswagen-sourced 1.7-liter engine, but all of the Rampage pickups (and their near-identical Plymouth Scamp siblings) came from the factory with a 2.2-liter K-Car engine making 96 horses. This truck has a 4-speed manual transmission, which would have made it reasonably quick by Malaise Era standards. This one had plenty of body filler and rust, even before the crash that sent it on that final tow-truck ride to this place, so it wouldn't have been worth restoring. Still, we can hope that some of its parts will live on in other L-body trucks.
