Minor transmission leak at the shift linkage seal just above the pan, you don't have to fix it and it is not expensive if you do. Shifts great. Fluid is good. May need new speedo cable. Dash light is out. Have changed head gaskets, intake and valve cover gaskets. New valve stem seals. New coil, cap and rotor. Starts up and runs great. Remanufactured carb. Minor rust pitting on flat bed frame that came off a different truck, was sanded, sealed, primed and bed lined. Wheels are used but nice. Homemade headliner has a few bubbles where glue isn't sticking. Brake pads, shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, some lines and front calipers are new. Stops good but may have a small vacuum booster leak. Great shape for what it is. Most are rotted out, this one is not. Frame is painted and undercoated. Seat has a seat cover. A great looking, solid work truck."

The Good:
Dana 44 in front with disc brakes, Dana Spicer 60 in rear with drums.
318 v8, Automatic.
4wd is all time has low loc, low, neutral, high, high loc. When in neutral the truck will not move. It has to be in high or low. It is a nice system like some jeeps have.
Ex-military M887 (tool truck) then it was a Missouri Fire truck. Now it has a flat bed that I put on.
32,700 original miles. Not rolled over odometer.
It has extra springs in the back so it is more like a 1 ton.
Was a western truck so no rust rot anywhere. Solid floors, rockers, cab, doors, ect. Fresh resto and repaint over this winter. It is now a charcoal gray metallic with Flat black flat bed, grill, wheels, bumpers. Bed liner on floor, bumpers, wheels, and flatbed frame.
Interior is black. No dash cracks. Has government plate still on dash.
New head gaskets, intake gaskets, valve seals on rebuilt heads. Valve guides are good, no smoke.
Reman 2bbl. carb. (older)
New brake pads, shoes, lines, master cylinder, front calipers.
New coil and cap and rotor.
No air, no smog stuff, manual steering. That is the way the US Gov. ordered it. You can buy the power steering stuff at a junk yard or new if some one wanted to convert it to power steering. I never needed it. I turns easy enough without power. Less to break down. You can easily upgrade to power steering in one afternoon and a few parts and a little money.
Factory plastic gas tank so it won't rust out.

Runs great, drives great, for what it is. It starts right up. It is not a 2005 so don't think that it is going to run and ride like a modern truck. It is a heavy duty work truck and it is 36 years old so that means stiff ride, loose steering, road noise. Anyone who has driven a classic knows this comes with the territory. But it also means cheap to repair like $20 calipers, $40 rotors, $80 alternator....and no $350 fuel pump or $250 hub bearings and you can do it yourself in a matter of minutes to hours. Heck you could swap the whole engine and trans yourself in one day. It also has in my opinion better axles. These Dodge truck are about the same parts from 1973 to about 1993 when they changed styles so parts interchange.
Has wide 16.5 steel wagon wheels. It has 33x12.5 tires. Comes with an extra set of the original narrower steel wheels (olive green) and military tires.
Looks great. Hard to find one of these trucks without total rust rot everywhere.

The Bad:
It does have a trans leak at the pan or maybe the seal where the shift lever goes in. It shifts and drives no problem and it will not affect the function of the transmission ever. It is not a expensive fix, you don't even have to fix it. The fluid is not burned.
The dash light is out.
The speedo bounces as the cable gets full of crud over time. I am soaking it in PB blaster which often fixes that. If not then you can ignore it or buy a new cable. The speed is also off a bit as the tires are larger than stock.

Other stuff:
It sat around my house for 6 years and was only driven on the property or on short trips into town, like less then 10 miles. It was never used at all some years. That is why I want to sell it, I am not using it and have too much stuff. It always started up and like I said above I replaced some parts. It could use at least a 1 inch body or susp. lift.

I am selling it as-is so if you live 3 hours away, I think you should trailer it going that far. Not because there is anything mechanically wrong, just incase something stupid like a radiator hose blows, or alternator quits or whatever. A cheap, quick easy fix near home turns into a pain 3 hours away and makes you unhappy with me. I don't want that! Trailer it unless you don't want to that is up to you. If you live local, feel free to drive it home. It will be better than the other 200K mile 90's 4x4 rust bombs out there for this price!
It is a great sold truck.

25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango SUVs recalled over brake feel

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Chrysler has announced that it is recalling over 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from several markets over concerns about brake feel under hard braking. The affected models are from the 2012 and 2013 model years, although the actual dates of production aren't available. 18,700 are in the US, while 825 are in Canada, 530 are in Mexico and a further 5,200 outside of North America.
According to a statement, Chrysler was informed of the issue by a component supplier for the Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brakes in anticipation of an emergency stop. A component in the system was restricting the flow of brake fluid too much.
As Chrysler is quick to point out, the way the brakes functioned was in compliance with regulations and there are no reported cases of drivers losing braking power. Instead, the issue rests with what Chrysler calls a pedal feel that "was not consistent with customer expectations." So it would seem Chrysler is being proactive and fixing a problem not because there's a legal issue at work, but simply because it doesn't feel the way the manufacturer wants it to. Well done.

Germany threatens to ban FCA vehicles over diesel emissions dispute

Tue, May 24 2016

Germany is threatening to ban sales of FCA products over diesel emissions. According to the newspaper Bild Am Sonntag, Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority found evidence of a so-called defeat device that shuts down certain emissions controls after running for 22 minutes. A standard diesel emissions test in the European Union reportedly takes 20 minutes to complete. FCA denies the allegations. "We believe all our vehicles respect EU emissions standards and we believe Italian regulators are the competent authority to evaluate this," the company said in a statement. The latter part of that statement drew ire from German authorities, especially after FCA declined to meet with German transport minister Alexander Dobrindt to discuss the issue. Graziano Delrio, the Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, vowed to work with German authorities on behalf of FCA. According to EU law, FCA is required to homologate its vehicles in Italy because that's where its regional operations are based. When will the diesel-scented soap opera end? We wish we knew, but our Magic 8 Ball is covered in soot. 2015 Dodge Viper GTC available in 25 million no-cost combos with 1 Of 1 bespoke program

Thu, Jan 8 2015

What's the one thing no car can have too much of? Here's a hint – it's not power. It's not efficiency, either, or technology, or even safety. It's exclusivity. It's one reason Rolls-Royce has become a legend building absolutely bespoke motor vehicles, and it's the reason Dodge, of all companies, is offering a new GTC trim level for its Viper supercar. Now, you might be asking what's so special and exclusive about a trim level? Well, in the Viper GTC's case, it gives owners access to a catalog of 8,000 shades of paint for the exterior, 24,000 "hand-painted" custom stripe patterns, 10 different wheel options, 16 interior trims and no fewer than six aerodynamic packages. That results in 25 million different configurations for the 645-horsepower snake. Most shockingly, the customization choices come at no additional cost on the GTC model. And it's only the start. Ordering a GTC will enroll customers in a unique VIP program called Viper Concierge, which according to Dodge, "offers an exclusive point of contact throughout the custom Viper build process." In other words, buyers will be given the means to stay right on top of their car's production, through the 140-to-160-hour painting process, which itself will be fully documented with pictures and through a mobile-friendly website, to the actual construction of their GTC. The Concierge process will start with the ordering stage, which will include Dodge sending customers a paint chip showing the owner's custom choosing, which they can confirm or refuse. Shortly thereafter, Dodge will send buyers a 1:18-scale "speed-form" replica in their chosen custom colors, once again to confirm or deny the build. Once the buyer's color and option selection is locked-in, that car becomes a one-of-one Viper for that year – no other buyer will be permitted to build a Viper to the same specifications. The concierge service also grants access to the Viper Ambassador Owner's Portal, where orderers can track their car's build process, receive weekly updates and share their excitement with (jealous) friends and family. And once the car is complete, it will be fitted with a custom dash plaque identifying its bespoke provenance – the owner can choose to have their name put on the badge, the car's nickname, or whatever they wish (Dodge will also ship each Viper with a second blank plate to include if the original owner sells the car).
