The last Dodge trucks ever made that were bigger than a 1-Ton were in 1977 and here is a Very Rare and Special Opportunity for you to own what maybe the Coolest and most Unique Dodge Truck you're ever going to see!

This Awesome 1977 Dodge D-700 Custom Race Car Hauler was built and owned by the Legendary Stock Car Driver and Race Team Owner Cotton Owens!

Cotton built this truck for his own personal use in 1987 starting with a 1977 D700 Cab and Chassis then extending the frame to a 240" wheelbase then installing a 1980 Club Cab section using the original D700 front clip.

Cotton used the 413 engine and the 5-Speed transmission from his D800 Race Car Hauler to put in this truck and used a 2-Speed Hi-Lo Rearend.  He also designed and built the 23'X8' Hauler bed and installed the twin 100 Gallon Aluminum gas tanks and the newer style 10-Lug 22.5" Polished Aluminum Budd Wheels.

Cotton used this truck often over many years before selling it to his buddy and fellow Winston Cup driver Neil Castles in 1996 who used the truck in his business transporting cars for the motion picture industry until selling it in 2010.  Two of the pictures I've included are one with Cotton Owens posing with his truck just after the cab and frame had been converted and one of the whole truck by itself before the bed and aluminum gas tanks were installed.

The Max GVW Rating for the truck is 25,500lbs and so a CDL liscense is not required.  The truck is in very good running and driving condition although it could use a set of new tires in the near future.  My plans for what I wanted to use the truck for have changed since buying it and now is a Great Opportunity for someone to own this Very Special Truck that has a lot of Very Interesting History behind it!  The Challenger Convertible on the truck is so you can have an idea on the size of the bed.  There is more than enough room to haul a car as long as a Superbird and still have plenty of room left on the bed for hauling a golf cart / ATV.

The Challenger in not included with the truck in this auction but is available for sale.  It is a Real Deal #'s Matching 6-Pack 4-Speed car that's loaded with all the options one could order and has its original Broadcast Sheet to prove it!

If you have any questions about the truck please give me a call at (405) 203-4441 or email me at: pentastarcars@cox.net

Dodge Charger Hellcat hitting 60 in 2.9 seconds on drag radials?

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

The Dodge boys and their cousins from SRT have shoehorned the same 707-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged V8 into both the Dodge Challenger and Charger. The former being a two-door, it's lighter than the latter four-door sedan. So it would stand to reason that the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat would be the quicker of the two, right?
Only that's not necessarily proving to be the case. On stock rubber, yes, the coupe beats the sedan: Dodge quotes a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds for the Charger SRT Hellcat and 3.5 for the Challenger. Same gap across the quarter-mile: 11 seconds flat for the Charger versus 10.8 seconds for the Challenger. But according to recent reports, the story changes when you put both on drag radials.
While visiting Chrysler HQ in Auburn Hills, MI, TorqueNews.com caught wind of performance figures for the Charger Hellcat on drag tires: 0-60 in a mind-blowing 2.9 seconds and a quarter-mile in just 10.7. The latter figure just barely pips the Hellcat-powered Challenger's NHRA-certified figure of 10.8, making the Charger not only the fastest sedan on the market, but also the fastest muscle car. What isn't immediately clear, however, is whether the drag radials in question have any tread on them and are street-legal, or if they're pure slicks confined to a closed strip.

Chrysler recalling 280k Dodge Ram 1500 pickups over axle seizures

Fri, Dec 19 2014

Following a June investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will be recalling 280,000 Dodge Ram pickups from model year 2005. The issue, NHTSA told The Detroit News, centered on a loose pinion nut, which could cause the rear axle to seize and, potentially, the driveshaft to detach. The affected vehicles were built between January of 2004 and August of 2005, while of the 280,000 trucks, only 257,000 were sold in the US market. According to The News, the recall will begin on February 13, and will see owners report to dealerships to have "a retention feature" added to the pinion nut.

Both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
It's ironic that Cadillac and Lincoln got new bosses within days of each other this month. It's also a commentary on the fact both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
