UP FOR SELL IS THIS SOLID SOUTHERN CALIFORINIA 1972 DODGE ADVENTURER SE TRUCK WITH A VERY STRONG RUNNING 440CI BIG BLOCK AND A 727 TRANSMISSION, HAS AN 489 CASE 8.75 REAR END WITH UNKNOWN GEAR RATIO (GUESSING ABOUT 3.23 RATIO BASED ON HOW NICE THE TRUCK CRUISES ON THE FREEWAY).

THE ONLY REASON I AM SELLING IS THAT I AM GETTING AN EVEN OLDER TRUCK THAT IS MORE MY STYLE. THIS TRUCK IS REALLY NICE SHAPE FOR ITS AGE. THE BODY IS VERY SOLID WITH ONLY SURFACE RUST ON THE ROOF AND INSIDE THE BED AND A LITTLE AROUND THE REAR WINDOW. I HAVE FOUND NO AREAS OF RUST THROUGH ON THIS BODY AT ALL. THE TRUCK WILL NEED SOME BODY WORK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT FENDER AND DOOR (I HAVE A STRAIGHT FENDER AND A DOOR FOR IT THAT COMES WITH THE TRUCK IF YOU WANT THEM), BUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SOME AUTO BODY PROFESSIONALS THAT THE FENDER AND DOOR CAN BE SAVED. THE TRIM ON THE TRUCK IS PRETTY GOOD SHAPE, HOWEVER IT IS NOT PERFECT. I DO HAVE SOME NOS TRIM FOR MOST OF THE PIECES THAT ARE DENTED, BUT NOT ALL OF THEM. THE FRONT BUMPER IS NICE, BUT IT WILL NEED TO BE STRAIGHTED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, (IT GOT PULLED OUT A LITTLE BIT). THE CHROME ON THE TRUCK IS NICE BUT IT DOES HAVE SOME PEPPERING IN IT IN SPOTS.

THE WHEELS ARE 17" GREG WELD ROD LITES THAT WERE ONLY MADE FOR 2 TO 3 YEARS THAT ARE IN REAL NICE SHAPE. THE TIRES HAVE SOME LIFE LEFT IN THEM, BUT PROBALBLY NEED TO BE REPLACED SOONER THAN LATER.

THIS TRUCK ORIGINALLY CAME WITH A 400CI BIG BLOCK THAT HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO A 440 CI MOTOR. IT HAS THE HIGH PERFORMANCE EXAUST MANIFOLDS AND 3" INCH EXAUST THAT FLOWS INTO ONE GLASS PACK MUFFLER THAT SOUNDS MEAN WHEN YOU GET ON IT, BUT NOT TO LOUD WHEN YOU KEEP YOUR FOOT OUT OF IT. WHEN YOU DO CHOSE TO GET HEAVY FOOTED THIS TRUCK GETS UP AND MOVES AND IS A BLAST TO DRIVE IT RIDES REALLY NICE CONSIDEDRING THAT IT IS A 42 YEAR OLD TRUCK. THE TRUCK HAS POWER BREAKS WITH DISC UP FRONT AND POWER STEERING ALSO. THE TRUCK HAS THE AIR CONDITIONER ON THE MOTOR BUT IT IS NOT HOOKED UP AND APPEARS TO ALL BE THERE FOR THE MOST PART. THE HEATER IS NOT HOOKED UP AND I AM NOT SURE WHY.

PLEASE LOOK AT THE MANY PICTURES THAT I HAVE ADDED AS THEY CAN SHOW YOU THE CONDITION OF THE TRUCK BETTER THAN I CAN DESCRIBE IN MOST CASES. USE THE ZOOM FEATURE FOR SOME REALLY DETAILED CLOSE UP IMAGES.

I AM LISTING THIS TRUCK AUCTION STYLE WITH WHAT I FEEL IS A VERY REASONABLE RESEARVE PRICE THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE OF WHAT I NEED FOR THE TRUCK, SO PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND WHEN BIDDING.

I HAVE TAKEN THIS TRUCK ON CLOSE TO A 400 MILE ROUND TRIP AND IT JUST CRUISED RIGHT ALONG WITH NO ISSUES AT ALL. THE TRUCK HAS 2 GAS TANKS AND I AM UNSURE OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT THAT THEY HOLD.

I HAVE DONE MY BEST TO DESCRIBE THE TRUCK AS ACCURATLY AS POSSIBLE, BUT SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE GIVE ME A CALL AT: 858-405-1094 OR MESSAGE ME HERE ON EBAY AND I WILL ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

 Additional information on the truck:

The truck has an Alpine stereo with speakers under the bench seat.

The motor has a mild cam in it that has a very slight lope to it and has a thermal quad 4 barrel carburetor.

The windshield wiper motor make a noise and does not work in all speeds.

Chrysler almost smothered the Hellcat before it lived

Thu, 06 Nov 2014

Chrysler's 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 was an absolute sensation from the very moment it was announced, and honestly, how could it not have been? Packing 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, its numbers immediately put every other production muscle car (and many supercars) to shame. Plus, we soon learned that would be wrapped in a package retailing for around $60,000 - a pittance compared to other vehicles offering similar grunt. However, the Hellcat almost never got the chance to rumble under the hood of the Challenger and Charger.
The Hellcat was initially proposed back in 2011, back when Fiat was deciding its future strategy for Chrysler Group, according to Automotive News. At the time, the company was just emerging from its bankruptcy doldrums, and an ultra-high-performance V8 wasn't exactly a must-have item. The program didn't move forward. However, SRT engineers kept fighting, according to AN, and four months later, they received the green light to pull the project off the shelf and continue developing the Hellcat. The muscle car world is certainly better for that decision.
The work of those engineers focused on taking Chrysler's standard 6.2-liter V8 and making it reliably handle all of the extra power from the supercharger. "It came down to micron levels of changes in the crank to be able to withstand the pressures of the engine," said Chris Cowland, director of advanced and SRT powertrain, to Automotive News. The changes amounted to switching out about 91 percent of the parts to make the Hellcat, including some quite minuscule alterations. For example, the washer holding the supercharger pulley is embedded with industrial diamonds to keep it from slipping.

Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.

John Schneider's General Lee Dodge Charger up for auction

Thu, Jun 25 2015

Over 150 years after it was first adopted, the Confederate flag is disappearing from license plates, state-legislature flagpoles, and even toy cars across the American South. While some are ready to bury those Stars and Bars forever as a symbol of racism and slavery, others will miss them as an emblem of freedom. Regardless of where you stand, the emergence of this particular vehicle on the auction block couldn't have come at a more poignant time. It's a 1969 Dodge Charger, and as you can see it's been done up just like the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard. While it may not be one of the cars used in the original television series, it's not without its provenance. The vehicle is the last of four that were customized by John Schneider, the actor who – long after the rebel flag ceases to fly – will forever be remembered for his portrayal of Bo Duke on that timeless television show. It's painted orange, emblazoned with the number 01 on the doors, the words "Bo's General Lee" above each window, and that controversial flag on the roof. It also features signatures and messages inscribed by Schneider, as well as by Sonny Shroyer (who played Deputy Enos Strate on the show), and by sportscaster and former pro basketball player Jalen Rose who once owned the car. It appeared alongside Schneider in commercials and films, and in the pages of the Mopar Collector's Guide. Now it's set to be sold off to the highest bidder this weekend by Invaluable Auctions and Julien's Auctions, where it's expected to fetch between $200,000 and $300,000 – assuming the latest controversies don't hinder its chances.
