1970 Dodge D400 Sweptline Truck Stake Bed Power Wagon Chassis 225 V6 Low Miles on 2040-cars
Morning Sun, Iowa, United States
Up for bid is a really nice 1970 Dodge D400 Sweptline Truck with 82,800 original miles. It is in very good condition with no rust holes or rot on the body or chassis. The pictures speak for themselves and I think it actually looks better in person! It started life as a Navy truck (hence the blue interior) and then put into service at a fire department as a stake bed. Has been farmer owned ever since. It was stored inside since new and was NEVER driven in the winter. The body is very nice and doesn't have any dents or rust. There are a few holes from old signage or accessories but most have been plugged. The frame is still almost completely black. The stake bed is approx. 14' long and all the wood is in excellent condition. The interior is all there and complete. The dash is in excellent condition and isn't all chewed up like most of these that you see with radio holes, etc. The floors are rock solid and still have the original rubber floor mat. The seat bottom and back are in perfect condition. There is some minor cracking on the sidewall of the seat but nothing major. All glass including the windshield is good. This truck always starts right up and runs great! The 225 Slant 6's are bulletproof motors and I am amazed how quiet and smooth this truck runs. There are no major leaks, doesn't smoke, idles great, and the choke works. All gauges work, all lights work, and all the interior decals are in good shape. Like new Interstate Battery with a cut off switch installed in case you want to store it for a long time. It has the NP435 4spd manual trans that shifts smoothly in every gear. Clutch works well, brakes work but could maybe use a little adjusting. 18,500 GVWR so it will haul quite a large payload with the rear HYP01D axle. I have owned several of these throughout the years and none have had a nicer cab, interior, or frame. I bought this truck about 1 year ago for the cab and the interior to swap it onto a W600 project that I have. I really hate to sell this thing but I've decided that this truck is just too nice and complete to cut apart. I found another cab I can use on my project so it's time to pass this one along. Clean and clear title and all VIN plates are intact on the truck. This will sell with NO RESERVE to the high bidder so bid to win! Any questions, don't hesitate to give me a call at 563-676-2032. $100 paypal deposit due within 48 hours and full payment due in cash in person within 7 days unless other arrangements are made prior to the end of the listing. If you need it delivered, I have a big trailer and could maybe help out with the delivery for a fee within 300 miles depending on where you are.

Tesla Model S P85D shows 707-hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat how to drag race
Thu, Jan 22 2015Street Car Drags hosted a bang-up event at the Palm Beach International Raceway last weekend, with a list of massive horsepower ICE cars going up against one another and a trio of Tesla Model S P85Ds. One of those duels pitted the 691-horsepower Tesla against a 707-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, and the result was an old-school beatdown and a world record for electric cars. The Model S P85D ran the quarter in 11.6 seconds at 114.6 miles per hour, the new mark for BEVs at the drag strip. Proving its pace, it ran three more times in 11.69, 11.72 and 11.76 seconds. It got from the start line to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds. The Hellcat, well, it wasn't a race, really. It was the Hellcat's driver's first time at a drag strip and his first time trying to launch it, so after an excellent burnout ahead of the lights, he rolled to the line, almost jumped the start, balked at the real start and spun his tires for the first 100 feet down the strip. The theory is that he overheated his street tires during that burnout, and the resulting greasy rubber did what greasy rubber does. By the time he got to the other end 17.46 seconds later the Tesla driver had showered and was enjoying a funnel cake. When things go right, though, Dodge estimates the Hellcat will do 11.2-second runs on street tires and it has been clocked at 10.85 seconds at 126.18 mph on street-legal drag radials. There's video of the not-quite-a-race above, and Drag Times says there'll be a rematch between the two in a couple of weeks. FCA adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to Uconnect
Mon, Jan 4 2016Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has three showcases ready for this week's Consumer Electronics Show. The spotlight reveal is a "glimpse" of the fourth-generation Uconnect system, which now gets Apple CarPlay and Google's Android Auto. They lead the advances due to be rolled out this year, which include beefier internals for faster startup and processing, the next evolution of the Uconnect navigation system, capacitive touchscreens, and higher resolution screens. Going beyond the vehicle, a concept display will present solutions to help drivers achieve "Car. Life. Balance." That means, as we've heard before, a car that knows what you want before you realized you wanted it via monitoring your driving habits, communicating with other vehicles and traffic infrastructure, and prioritizing information in certain situations to keep the driver from being overwhelmed. A Waze-like community of road knowledge is also on the menu, and it allows for tagging of tag street conditions to inform other vehicles, and a follow-me mode where people can "request to follow other vehicles." Government types will want to scope out the 2016 Dodge Charger Pursuit with an exclusive Uconnect system boasting a 12.1-inch screen and enhanced resolution that can speak to the officer's mobile computer. Dodge shows can-do attitude with grand Can'avan sculpture
Fri, 01 Nov 2013There are lots of ways to celebrate an important birthday, and all of them are well deserved. You can throw a big party, buy yourself something nice, or - if you're the altruistic type - do something for others in need. The latter is how Chrysler has opted to mark the 30th anniversary of its Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country.
Together with hunger-advocacy organization Canstruction, the Chrysler Foundation has built a full-scale replica of the Grand Caravan out of 30,000 food cans in the square at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, a ways down the highway from where the real vans are built in Windsor. The sculpture was built over the course of 10 hours by 30 volunteers and was displayed earlier this week.
Now the installation is being taken down, and the cans of food are being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which will assemble them into 2,000 food baskets to be distributed to those in need through its network of 200 food banks across the Canadian metropolis. Check out a neat time-lapse video of the build and the press release below.
