1962 Dodge D100 Town Wagon - Very Rare, Exc Cond, 318 4sp W/ Ac, Near Mint Body! on 2040-cars
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States
PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER VEHICLE AUCTIONS 1962 Dodge "Power Giant" D100 Town Wagon These trucks are a really Rare Find 52 years after production and an even Rarer Find in the Excellent Condition this truck is in! This truck was purchased new at McKeon Motors, Inc. in El Paso, Tx. (Dry Desert Area) on February 21, 1962 by a company called The Commonwealth Plan, Inc. The truck was in El Paso for most of it's existence but eventually left town for Lone Pine, CA. not very far from the famous Death Valley desert area where it remained until late in 2009 when it was sold to a guy in Northern Ohio. From there it quickly changed hands to another guy in that same area who made his living as a professional Chrysler mechanic, and as soon as he got the truck home he started going through the whole truck mechanically and rebuilding the engine, replacing the clutch & pressure plate, replacing all of the brake system with new parts and going though the front end with any new parts that were needed. All of this work was done less than 1,000 miles ago. This truck can drive safely and dependably anywhere you want to go but maybe not as comfortable as you might be used to traveling! I bought the truck 3 years ago with some really big plans to do the whole Pro Mod thing to it but my enthusiasm has since faded as I just have too many other projects in life. I will reduce the final purchase price of the truck by $800.00 if the buyer would prefer that I keep the new Chrome Magnum 500 wheels and center caps and the Radial T/A's off the truck and sell it with the original wheels and hub caps on it. Otherwise, both sets of wheels will come with the truck for the final bidding price. I have some pictures of it with the original wheels and hub caps on it, so let me know if you would like to see them and I'll get them too you. Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014
Tue, 08 Apr 2014If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.
Will airbags sandbag the 2017 Dodge Viper?
Thu, Jan 14 2016The Dodge Viper is speeding down the road to cancellation for the 2017 model year, and at least part of the reason for the V10 monster's death is a problem fitting it with federally mandated side curtain airbags. An anonymous source close to FCA US told Motor Trend the automaker can't install the parts because they would further limit the coupe's already tight headroom. The government believes the side curtain airbags can reduce occupant ejections during accidents, and all vehicles must have them for the 2017 model year. The Viper's slow sales also don't provide FCA US much motivation to work out a solution to this problem. The automaker moved just 676 of the handmade sports coupes in the US in 2015, which was down 11 percent from 760 deliveries in 2014. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne hinted at the Detroit Auto Show that the Viper could return eventually. He doesn't like that the current model has a dedicated platform but indicated a new one could share the underpinnings with another of the company's products. Marchionne's current business plan for FCA stresses building the automaker's value, so it might be a while before we see the sweater-clad CEO focusing on a niche vehicle like the Viper. FCA's large, LX-based RWD cars will stick around until 2020
Mon, Nov 7 2016Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plans to stick with the Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 until at least 2020, reports Automotive News. The information comes from two unnamed sources and was loosely confirmed by details in the automaker's new labor contract with Unifor, Canada's auto union. The plan, according to two anonymous sources, is to lightly refresh the Challenger, Charger, and 300 until the vehicles make the switch to FCA's new Giorgio platform. The refresh, as Automotive News points out, will happen in 2018. The Giorgio platform currently underpins the Alfa Romeo Giulia and is expected to find its way to two of the three large American vehicles for the 2021 model year. At that time, FCA will discontinue either the Charger or the 300, claim AN's unnamed sources. If one of the vehicles were to go, it would most likely be the 300. The 300's LX platform would be approximately 15 years old in 2020 and the vehicle doesn't draw in as many sales as the Challenger or the Charger. The Charger made the switch from the LX platform in 2010 with the current model utilizing the mildly updated LD platform, while the Challenger recently moved from the LC platform to the LA platform last year. All of those rear-wheel-drive platforms are closely related. Automotive News points out that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne stated that the new platform could be utilized across various applications in a conference call with analysts last month. The plan, according to the report, is to stretch and widen the Giorgio platform for the next-gen Challenger and Charger. The new platform is also rigid enough to allow the automaker to add a convertible to its lineup, which could lend further credence to rumors of an upcoming Barracuda. Hopefully, the move to the new Giorgio platform doesn't delay the all-wheel-drive Challenger GT AWD or the wide-body, Hellcat-powered Challenger ADR. We'll just have to wait and see.
