1959 Dodge D300 9' Long Bed 1 Ton Truck All Original Second Owner Low Miles on 2040-cars
Los Angeles, California, United States
Up for auction is my 1959 Dodge D300 9' long bed pickup truck. It's a great truck that will work hard. The engine always starts reliably and sounds like music. It really does purr and it's great to start it up and surprise people with the sound. The truck has all of its original details including the horse hair bench seat, cardboard headliner, rubber floor mat, bake light knobs, chrome trims etc. It has a four speed manual transmission with the floor shifter which is great. It has the "granny gear" for really heavy loads or pulling out tree stumps. It is fantastic for scoops of gravel or sand and concrete. It can easily take on 2,200 lbs of cargo. It always turns heads at Home Depot etc. It is really fun to drive with the rare two wrap around windows that make it feel you are in an observation tower. It has no blind spot! The small window vents are great for ventilation.
I purchased the truck from a family member in 1993 and I am the second owner. The first owner was a furniture maker and used the truck only to pick up materials and to deliver his work. It had 37,000 miles on it when I bought it. All of the systems work properly except for the parking brake. It needs to be adjusted around the drive shaft. This explains the squished drivers side door. I lent the truck to a friend and it rolled back and was stopped by the open door. I spotted the exact door on Ebay two weeks ago for $200. I also installed an electric fuel pump on a trip because I didn't have time to wait for a replacement mechanical one. The tires are 18" Bias Ply for really good strength but radials are now available if the new owner chooses. he I would keep the truck but I need a tow vehicle for my camper and this truck is not suited for long cross country towing. Also for sale locally.Good luck and thanks for looking. |

Marchionne may stay with FCA until 2020
Mon, Aug 31 2015We might get to see Sergio Marchionne and his vast array of sweaters in the auto industry for even longer than expected. The FCA CEO suggested last year that he would retire from the automaker when its current five-year plan was complete in 2018. Now, he has tentatively extended that point out to at least 2020. "I can do this for another five years if you push me, right? Beyond that, I ain't gonna do it, and I don't want to," he said to Automotive News. That would give Marchionne a 16-year career at the top from joining Fiat in 2004 to possibly leaving FCA in 2020. Although, take the CEO's statement with a grain of salt because he has made multiple statements about the timing for his retirement. In 2012, Marchionne said he would only remain in charge until 2015, which is, well, now. Those five years might also go quite quickly because Marchionne is a busy guy with the Ferrari IPO, the attempted merger with General Motors, implementing FCA's five-year plan, and many other projects. He's already considering the next CEO, though. "My purpose in life is to find the Kuniskises of the world, the Manleys, the Biglands, the Palmers," Marchionne said to Automotive News, referencing the heads at Dodge, Jeep, FCA North America, and the company's chief financial officer, respectively. "I told them, 'One of you is going to do what I do one day. I don't know who that is, but one of you is going to do it.'" Dodge Charger R/T NHRA Funny Car is ready to burn rubber at SEMA [w/video]
Wed, 05 Nov 2014The Dodge Charger R/T is all set to rocket down the drag strip in NHRA Funny Car competition with a completely redesigned body debuting at this year's SEMA Show. While only the front decal, side scallops and rear logo really signal this racer as a Charger, that doesn't take away from its promise of hitting absolutely ludicrous speeds.
The engineers' biggest tweak to the body was moving the cockpit further back. This created more clearance under the hood, and the change came with added advantage of giving the driver better visibility out of the car. Composites like Kevlar also helped make the one-piece shell even lighter, while not sacrificing strength.
The new design has already undergone extensive time in the wind tunnel and real-world runs to make sure that none of the changes negatively impacted the aerodynamics. With those tests out of the way, the Charger R/T Funny Car will have the first chance to truly prove itself in NHRA competition at the 2015 Winternationals from February 5-9 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, CA.
Chrysler extending production of current Dodge Avenger, Jeep Wrangler, Grand Caravan
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Are you hesitant to pull the trigger on a brand new Dodge Avenger in hopes that a new one will be coming? Well, don't hold your breath. According to The Detroit News, Chrysler will be extending production of the current Avenger sedan through the end of 2015.
Originally, we heard that the company would kill the Avenger to better focus its midsize sedan efforts on the Chrysler 200 replacement. But then new reports stated there would indeed be an Avenger successor, and that we could see it as early as next January. This Detroit News report cites supplier sources confirming the extension of Avenger production, though Chrysler has not released an official statement on the matter.
These same suppliers say that the current Jeep Wrangler will live on through mid-2018 - that's right, another five years. The Detroit News reports that a replacement for the iconic, go-anywhere Jeep was due in mid-2016.
