1955 Dodge C3b Pickup, Short Lowside Bed on 2040-cars
West Richland, Washington, United States
1955 Dodge Pickup -- for the person that has to have something a little different than a Chevy or Ford! For 1950s pickups, this truck is a fairly uncommon one! When was the last time you saw one, either stock original or customized? I have seen very few in my lifetime growing up in the 60s and 70s. Typically you'll see a Chevy or a Ford at the car shows, but almost never a Dodge of this vintage. For 1955, Dodge updated the styling of their trucks to be more competitive with Ford and Chevy, but they were coming from behind in the styling dept (though engineering was rock solid). This 1955 Dodge truck quickly got them up to speed. Most of these Dodge trucks have the longer highside bed (116"), but this truck has the short lowside bed (108"). This gives it a very high appeal as a restored or customized truck for today's collector market. 1955 was the first year that Dodge offered V8 engines in their pickups. Originally, this was a 6 cyl truck, but it currently has a V8 engine in it (the engine is a 318 Poly V8 "Wideblock", about 1964 vintage). The truck is mostly straight and rust free. The only major body damage is on the rear fender, driver's side. There is a little rust on the bottom of the doors, but the cab floors are solid. The pickup bed is all present, but in old worn condition. Most of the pickups of this vintage that you see are Fords and Chevys, and the Dodge brand is fairly uncommon today. Dodge redesigned the pilothouse trucks for 1954, then added a true wrap around windshield for 1955 and the more modern rear fender design greatly added appeal compared to the earlier Dodge Pilothouse trucks. Dodge did maintain the butterfly hood through 1956 which was getting to be a dated style. The pickup has not been run for years, but with basic maintenance for proper startup, it should run. The exact prior history of the truck is unknown. It has been in the eastern Washington area for the past 10-15 years though. Last driven about 6 or 7 years ago. I have owned it for over a year, but have other projects in mind to pursue. I do accept Paypal, buyer pays all transaction fees. Full payment must be received within 5 days of end of auction. No zero feedback bidders. Buyer is responsible for the shipping and related arrangements though I will provide reasonable help on my end to ready the pickup for transport. No warranties on any part of the vehicle is given or implied. Please contact me with any questions and I will do my best to supply the info to you. Thanks for bidding on this pickup! |

2015 Dodge Viper getting small increase in power
Tue, 29 Jul 2014The Viper is used to being the most powerful car in the Dodge and SRT stables, but the arrival of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat means that's no longer the case. The serpentine supercar is, however, reportedly getting a small boost in output for 2015, amounting to all of five horsepower.
The increase was uncovered by Road & Track courtesy of the SAE J1349 certification process to which Detroit's Big Three automakers submit themselves and which reports the Viper's output at 645 hp instead of the 640 it was rated at until now. There are a hundred factors that could have contributed to the relatively mild boost in output (best guess? nothing at all changed...), but we doubt anyone's going to complain about some extra horses under the hood.
The five-horsepower boost brings the Viper that much closer to the 650-hp Chevy Corvette Z06, not to mention the 707-hp Hellcat, but the Viper's impressive power-to-weight ratio ought to mean it'll have little problem keeping up in a straight line - which is just one of the reasons why Chrysler won't shoe-horn the Hellcat into the Viper: as R&T points out, the supercharged engine is too heavy and the blower makes it too tall to fit in the Viper's engine bay.
2015 Ford Mustang vs. Camaro and Challenger [w/poll]
Thu, 17 Jul 2014The horsepower wars are tightening among the Detroit Three, as the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger are getting bigger, more powerful, and yes, more fuel efficient.
That came into sharper focus this week as more information was revealed about the most insane Challenger ever - the 707-horsepower Hellcat - followed quickly by Ford's in-depth showcase of the 2015 Mustang in Dearborn.
It's shaping up to be a golden age for enthusiasts, and what's under the hood is becoming more important than ever.
