I am out of time, my friends. I am moving and this truck must go soon! I am passionate about this truck, but cannot take it with me, and do not have the time it deserves.
This truck is surprisingly intact with very few areas rusted through. Although I was going to leave it as a rat rod, it is a viable candidate for restoration or custom street rod.
I will tell you everything I know about the truck, but ask questions....
1. This is a 1946 Dodge pickup that rolled off the factory floor in Detroit, Michigan (build number 26756). I bought it in Virginia and have the frame and door tag, but have not titled it. It is sold with a bill of sale and VIN.
2. The frame is from a 1949 Ford 1/2 ton pickup and is in remarkable condition.
3. The engine is a Ford Flathead V8 (8BA) that runs strong. I have not pulled the heads nor compression checked, so cannot provide details on the condition of pistons, rings, etc. All I know is that it has that distinct flathead sound that cannot be replicated. I was planning a complete rebuild, but would not hesitate to drive it in its current condition.
4. All panels, running boards, etc are intact with some rust holes, but nothing major. I've provided pictures and will provide more upon request.
5. The front glass is cracked, but intact. The rear glass is good.
6. It does not have brake lines, so you need to run all new lines. It also needs rear drums.
7. I have the original transmission, but pulled it off in order to marry a T5 transmission from a 1986 S10 pickup. It still needs the conversion kit (approx. $500) in order to complete it. This auction comes with both transmissions, but if you do not need/want it, I will sell it separately. It needs a clutch pedal. I was going to get a universal clutch/brake kit. I do have the original that comes with the auction.
8. The truck bed side gates are in good condition, but the bed does not have a floor. It also does not have a tailgate.
9. There is no fuel cell or gas tank.
10. All four tires are good and hold air, so it can be rolled in and out easily.
11. I have another complete cab + other parts from a 1941 Dodge Truck (separate auction). I was planning to chop this cab and cut/weld in the spacer from the other. The other cab is rusty, but still solid metal.
12. This is auction style, no reserve, low starting bid. In other words, this truck will sell to whoever is the highest bidder. As I stated, I am out of time. Although the panels are off the truck right now, I will put them back on if you need me to for transport -- otherwise, I'd rather not because you'll likely just be pulling them off in the first 30 minutes of ownership yourself. Seems like a waste. I will accommodate all reasonable effort to ship or move this truck. I've owned dozens of old cars, and understand these are exceptional when you go to move them. I'm a flexible, reasonable person.
13. I'm selling this truck with the caveat that if you do complete it or want to sell it again, I get first crack at getting it back! Like I've said, this truck is in great condition for its age, and I'm very sorry to be listing it here.
14. The prior owner started to suicide the driver door. The passenger is intact. There is some pretty crappy welding in the door hinges that needs to be redone.
Please ask questions and if you need more photos then let me know. I will help any way I can.
Obviously, this is sold "as is," and is not a running/operating vehicle. Seems silly, but have to say it.
Good luck, and take care.

Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
eBay Find of the Day: 1994 Dodge Viper RT/10 with 504 miles
Tue, 26 Nov 2013It's typically hard to find early examples of the Dodge Viper that haven't been crashed or modified, but one eBay seller has a showroom-fresh version of the V10 roadster up for sale worthy of an eBay Find of the Day.
With just 504 miles on the odometer (according to the description and not the images) and "no defects at all," this 1994 Viper is a rare find indeed. Tack on the Buy It Now price of just $37,500 and it seems like a steal - especially when checking out the prices and conditions of other early Vipers currently listed on eBay.
Even after spending months ogling the all-new 2014 SRT Viper, it's hard to ignore the raw beauty of the original open-top model. From the three-spoke wheels to the calf-searing side pipes, everything about this Viper looks just the way it did when it rolled off the line almost 20 years ago. The seller even says that the top and windows have never been installed meaning there are no scratches anywhere on this car!
Pony-car sales war: Mustang vs. Camaro vs. Challenger [UPDATE]
Fri, Jul 3 2015Update: An earlier version of this story misstated the 2015 Mustang's weight when compared with previous models. Additionally, we have added comments from Chevrolet in the text. The Ford Mustang has blown past the Chevy Camaro as America's best-selling pony car, and in June, it wasn't even close. The 'Stang outsold the Camaro 11,719 to 8,611 cars. The Camaro remained ahead of the Dodge Challenger, which sold 6,845 units. Even though the Camaro did post an 11.5-percent sales improvement in June, the competition is arguably stronger than at anytime since the 1970s muscle-car era. The Mustang's sales leapt a whopping 53.6 percent, while the Challenger saw a gain of 56 percent. Several factors are weighing down Camaro sales, including its lame duck status. Chevy is launching a new generation of the Camaro this year that's more than 200 pounds lighter, offers a new turbo four-cylinder engine option, and has a nicer interior than the outgoing model. Put simply: wait a few months and you can get a better car. It's also unlikely Chevy will jack up the price much, as it's historically kept the Camaro within reach of everyday enthusiasts. While Chevy fans wait in anticipation for their new sports car, Ford and Dodge have downshifted. The new Mustang, which went on sale last year, is faster and more sophisticated than its predecessor. It also offers a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which Ford has credited for the Mustang's recent uptick and makes up 36 percent of the car's sales, Ford analyst Erich Merkle said. View 17 Photos June's performance allowed the Mustang to widen its sales gap with the Camaro this year. Through the first five months, Ford sold 68,290 Mustangs, a 54.4-percent increased compared with 2014. Chevy sold 42,593 Camaros, an 8.7-percent decrease. The Challenger – long the No. 3 pony car in sales volume – has seen its sales surge 41 percent this year to 37,011 units. Spokesman Monte Doran said Chevy expected that 2015 would be a "relatively soft year" for the Camaro. "Mustang is taking advantage of years' worth of pent-up demand for an independent rear suspension," he said. "When Camaro introduced an IRS, in 2009, it helped make us the best-selling performance car in America.
