NO RESERVE     NO RESERVE     NO RESERVE

Up for a no reserve auction today is a 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4.  This car is a running, driving, safety checked vehicle being sold by a licensed car dealer in Hamden, CT.  However, it is not perfect, and has some flaws that are photographed and described below, so please read the entire ad and ask any questions before bidding.

First, the good.  These SRT neons are rare, and hard to find especially for a bargain price.  The interior is in great condition, with the exception of normal wear on floor mats, driver's seat, etc.  For a car that is 9 years old with 14x,xxx miles, it is certainly above average.  There is an aftermarket radio installed that plays nicely.  Power windows and locks work as they should.  The sunroof functions as it should, and the air conditioning is ice cold.  The keyless entry remote also functions normally.  Even the power mirrors work!
The body has some issues, mainly damage on the driver's door.  The two right side doors have some dents as well, but these can probably be removed by a paintless dent removal technician.  I have tried to picture these as best I could.  Other than that, expect normal dents and scratches that you would find on any car of this age.
Mechanically, the car runs, shifts, stops, and overall functions well.  The tires are in great condition, and the brakes are over 75%.  It appears to have been slightly modified from stock with some simple bolt on parts.  The engine mounts have been changed.  The air intake pipe has been changed as well.  Other parts may not be stock, but the major components are all factory.
This car was purchased by us with a broken clutch.  When we removed the transmission, we found an aftermarket clutch in place of the modular clutch that this car came factory with.  Since it would have been expensive to convert back, we simply installed a new friction disc and release bearing and put everything back together.  While we were working, we saw some previous sloppy work was done to this car.  There were some bolts missing, wires placed in wrong positions, etc.  Regardless, the car seems to run and drive very well.  There was also some very minor traces of oil in the turbo charge tubes and intercooler.  It was nothing I feel is serious, but thought it was worth mentioning.
So in summary, here is a great deal on a SRT-4!  It runs and drives great, but could use a little TLC!  Feel free to call with any questions!  We have great feedback, and plan on keeping it that way.
Remember, we are CT licensed dealers, so we need to collect a $195 conveyance/doc prep fee, and 6.35% sales tax for CT residents.

Good luck, and Happy Bidding!  Mike (203) 996-7589

Why the Charger Hellcat can't be ordered with a manual transmission

Sun, 16 Nov 2014

Fans of truly irreverent amounts of horsepower will find lots to love in the form of the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat models. Both of them send 707 ridiculous horsepower to the rear wheels; the only question is whether you want your absurdity delivered with two or four doors. Oh, and whether or not you want the option of a manual transmission.
If you prefer rowing your own gears, the choice is made for you; there is no manual gearbox option available on the Charger Hellcat, or any Charger model at all, for that matter. Wonder why? Well, besides the fact that almost nobody - sorry, clutch fans, but it's true - would choose to buy a Charger with a manual transmission, that is? The answer, according to an industry insider in a post written on Jalopnik's Opposite Lock forum, is the floorpan.
It's probably not a surprise to most of our readers that the Dodge Challenger and Charger share a large portion of their chassis structure, which is codenamed LX at Chrysler, but there are still some significant differences under the skin due to the shorter wheelbase and two-door coupe bodyshell of the Challenger, as opposed to the sedan shape of the Charger. One of the differences is the floorpan, the huge chunk of sheetmetal that makes up the floor of the car and props up such essential items as the car's seats.

How to update and secure a vulnerable Chrysler Uconnect system

Sat, Jul 25 2015

If you own one of the 1.4 million vehicles affected by the recent Chrysler software recall, you may want to watch this video. In it, we explain how to get the latest infotainment software loaded onto the 8.4-inch Uconnect system. The recall was a response to the findings of researchers who were able to hack into and remotely control a 2014 Jeep Cherokee through its cellular connection. Although Fiat Chrysler has worked with Sprint to plug most of the holes on the carrier side, there are still some vulnerabilities that only this latest software version can patch. Owners have three options to get the update: download it now, wait for a USB stick in the mail, or take the vehicle to an FCA dealer. Chrysler will be sending USB sticks loaded with the software update to customers. Anyone with an internet connection and a USB stick of their own with at least 4 GB capacity can speed things up by downloading the patch from the Uconnect website. We cover that process from start to finish in the video, with the final portion still applicable to those using the FCA-supplied USB stick. If after watching this you still don't want to tackle the patch yourself, you can take your vehicle to the dealer to have it done. Also note that this process is the same for all Uconnect updates, not just the one patching the exploits. Our demonstrator vehicle is a 2015 Ram 1500 pickup. The procedure should be very similar on other products with the 8.4-inch Uconnect system, with only the location of the USB port varying. Once you have the USB stick with the software on it – either after having downloaded it yourself or receiving it in the mail from Chrysler – the installation process is relatively simple. It takes about 15 minutes to perform the update; we edited out the wait in the video. To check whether or not your car's 8.4-inch Uconnect system is running the latest software, go to System Information on the touch screen's Settings page and look at Software Version. The update related to the recall is version 15.17.5. Related Video: Recalls Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Safety Technology Infotainment Videos Original Video hacking

Star Wars Episode VII ad is a force for Dodge

Fri, Dec 18 2015

Happy Star Wars day! Some of you might be bleary eyed and begging for coffee after attending midnight screenings of Star Wars, Episode VII: The Force Awakens last night (*raises hand*) but the show must go on. And for Dodge, that show has been all about Star Wars. While the entirety of FCA joined the tie-in marketing campaign for the long-awaited JJ Abrams blockbuster, Dodge made out the best. According to Wards Auto, the brand's The Force Gathers spot took the top spot in this week's most engaging automotive ads, capturing nearly a quarter of share-of-voice ratings and garnering over a quarter-of-a-million earned online views. Since the ad began airing earlier this month, it's scored over 430,000 views on YouTube alone. The relatively simple ad evokes Darth Vader and his legions of storm troopers. In the 30-second spot, a black Viper leads six long columns of white Chargers, Challengers, and Durangos while John Williams' iconic Imperial March blares in the background. It ends at the stand of an overwhelmed pair of valets outside a screening for Episode VII. We've embedded the spot at the top of the page if you haven't seen it. Check it out, and may the Force be with you. Star Wars, Episode VII: The Force Awakens is in theaters today. Related Video:
