1996 Dodge Neon 4 cylinder Automatic
75,000 miles

I bought this car when I decided to return to school at 40. My work truck was killing me in gas driving downtown. 40 miles roundtrip. I realized in the 12 months I was going to school I could pay for a car in the gas I save. So, I bought this with the plan to sell when I graduated. Well I graduated and it is for sell.

The car was a Michigan city owned vehicle. The mileage is real and the interior is almost spotless. The headliner is sagging and the drivers seat has been used. Otherwise it is like new. If you know neons they are known for peeling paint. This one is no different. The car had major areas that were peeled and all the hubcaps were gone. So I bought new hubcaps from walmart and bought some primer and paint too. Yes, I spray painted parts of the car. Hey it looks better than having spots that were not painted! There are some rust spots. One small one on a door and one infront of the rear tire. Probably more it was a Michigan car. So there is the outside cosmetic.

I fixed the AC, it works great, I had to replace the radio and rear speakers. So everything works and there are no lights on. I keep the oil changed and it does have a small leak. I put a quart in about every three months. Most of the time I change the oil before it needs oil. The rotors were replaced when I bought it and the pads have about 5,000 miles on them. Tires will be good for a long time to come.

I drove this car 40 miles a day for a year. It is pretty old but it runs great and is very dependable. This would make a great A to B car to save gas or a first car if your kid would drive it.

Don't be afraid to make me an offer.

The car is for sell locally and on other sites. I reserve the right to end this auction early.

Guy trying to sell Challenger Hellcat for $89,000 because VIN ends in '666'

Mon, Jul 27 2015

The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is undoubtedly one of the baddest cars on the road today. With a 707-horsepower supercharged V8 snarling under the hood, the coupe can go down the road like a bat out of hell. There's not much that could make one of these muscle machines much more menacing, but a seller on Craigslist has one bizarre solution: offering a hellacious Hellcat with a VIN marking the Dodge as the beastly 666. What's the price for such unholy identification? That's a cool $89,000 – around $30,000 more than a brand new, less sacrilegious example. The seller claims that the Challenger's blasphemous number makes the vehicle "one of a kind," which is true only to the extent that VINs ending 665 and 667 would be similarly unique. The seller also says in the Craigslist ad, "This car is sure to become a collector's item and will only increase in value." There's no question that the Hellcat is a special machine, and the models just might be worth something decades into the future. Expecting that a future owner is going to care about the VIN seems pretty optimistic, though, unless this is either the first or last example, which it's not. To the credit of this superstitious seller, the Challenger appears completely untouched with all of the warning stickers, paperwork and even the plastic still covering the seats. So, the new owner is at least getting a practically untouched example. While we applaud audacity here, a roughly $30,000 premium for an unholy VIN seems a bit... devilish.

Dodge Scat Packages add Mopar performance upgrades in three stages

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

Dodge has revealed what it calls Scat Package Stage Kits that enhance the performance of the Charger and the Challenger equipped with the 5.7-liter V8, and the Dart equipped with the turbocharged 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine. The Scat Packs use Mopar performance parts that also can be bought separately. Most of the upgrades increase engine output, but Dodge somehow manages to not specifically mention the power gains associated with each Scat Pack.
The three Scat Packs offered for the V8-powered cars focus on higher power ratings, and each stage comes complete with a unique engine-management calibration to optimize output. Stage one comes with a cold-air intake and a cat-back exhaust; stage two adds a performance camshaft; and stage three really gives you the goods, adding ported polished cylinder heads and performance headers.
For the Dart, the Scat Packs focus on engine, transmission, chassis and brake upgrades. Stage one will net you a cold-air intake, a short-throw shifter and slotted rotors with performance brake pads; stage two adds a cat-back exhaust system and an engine-management calibration to increase output by taking advantage of premium-octane gasoline; and stage three adds 13-inch vented brake discs up front clamped by four-piston calipers, suspension with adjustable springs and struts and performance front and rear antiroll bars.

Chrysler set to make $266M-investment into 8-speed transmission production

Wed, Dec 10 2014

Chrysler will shortly make a significant $266-million investment into its Kokomo, IN transmission factory in a bid to expand production of its eight-speed automatic transmissions. The gearboxes, which are built under license from Germany's ZF Friedrichshafen, have been well received by customers and critics, and according to an SEC filing obtained by Automotive News, the transmissions will eventually find their way to all of Chrysler's rear-drive offerings (Viper and heavy-duty Ram models, aside). According to AN, a Chrysler spokesman says the investment has not been confirmed, but once it is, it'll mark the company's latest in a growing line of investments at the facility. Chrysler has poured $1.5 billion into Kokomo since 2009.
