2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8

I am the second owner of the vehicle and purchased it approximately one year ago.  I am selling due to my fianc? expecting a baby and she doesn't feel safe with me driving a baby around in a 580HP Magnum (even though it is a station wagon).

The original owner invested approximately $20k (just in parts, not install) in to the motor alone.  The car was run at the track on 4-5 different occasions by the previous owner (regrettably none by me) with a best time of 11.57 at 122MPH on drag radials.  I do not have the time slip for it but have a video of it running an 11.88 after the supercharger install (bad video but you can see the time and that it beats a Corvette).

Modifications:

  • Indy CNC cylinder head package with Comp Cams, beehive springs, and titanium retainers
  • Indy CNC port match intake plenum
  • Comp Cam XE 268 Camshaft
  • Install heads and cam
  • SuperMaxx Stainless long tube headers
  • JBA cat back exhaust
  • 60lb. fuel injectors
  • Billet high flow fuel rails
  • Modern-muscle Modified Fuel Bucket with 2 Walbro 255 LPH high output fuel Pumps
  • Vortech V-3 intercooled supercharger kit
  • Pillar pod with boost and boost gauges
  • 9.5 PSI Vortech pulley
  • Alkycontrol.com progressive methanol kit with install and tune

The car was garage kept by myself and the previous owner.  The paint and interior are as good as you will find for a 2006.  I just spent $800 on replacing all four rotors and brake pads as well as changing the supercharger oil and engine oil.  Engine oil has been changed every 3500 miles and the supercharger every 7000 miles.

I drove the car 40-60 miles per week and never had an issue with it.  It can be used as a daily driver but I wouldn't recommend it with the drag radials as they are horrible in the rain.  The car is a blast to drive and will turn heads everywhere.  Nobody expects the sound it makes to be coming from a station wagon.  I can't pull in to a gas station without someone stopping to ask questions about it (FYI still gets 12-13MPG around town and 16-17MPG highway).  I have additional pictures and sound clips if needed.  I can text or email them if you provide your information.

It definitely hurts selling the car, but it definitely will not hurt me as much as it did the previous owner.  Everything he did the vehicle is top notch and done by professionals.  All receipts that were given to me are still in the center console where they were left by the previous owner.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.  I work midnights so my response may be a little delayed.

Buyer is responsible for pick-up but I am willing to help.

**Minor swirl marks on driver' side roof due to previous owner have satellite radio (little larger than a quarter).  Steering wheel has minor wear, easily covered with steering wheel cover (I leave it as is as its very minor).  Nitto Drag Radials will need replacing within the next 1500 miles or so.**

Autoblog Podcast #317:

Chrysler recalling 700k minivans and Dodge Journey for ignition switch woes

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

General Motors isn't the only automaker with ignition switch problems. Chrysler is fighting it too and is now announcing a recall of 695,957 examples worldwide of the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2008-2010 model years, plus the 2009-2010 Dodge Journey.
According to a statement from Chrysler, the models have a bad wireless ignition node detent ring in the ignition switch, making it possible for drivers to appear to have the key in the "Run" position but for the spring not to fully engage. It can then slip back to the "Accessory" position and shut the car off. If this happens, the vehicle loses power steering, brake boost and the airbags.
There is some disparity about the number of vehicles affected under this recall. In its statement, Chrysler claims that it covers 525,206 vehicles in the US, 102,892 in Canada, 25,591 in Mexico and 42,268 elsewhere. However, the recall announcement posted by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists an estimated 438,109 vehicles in the US. Chrysler spokesperson Nick Cappa told Autoblog via email that the reasoning for the different figures "will become clear at a later date."

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat [w/videos]

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

Darrell Waltrip once said, "If the lion didn't bite the tamer every once in a while, it wouldn't be exciting." The sentiment behind that aphorism is causing my adrenal gland to wake up as Dodge and SRT drivers and engineers - somber-faced to a man - give me the track talk that will precede my driving the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT on the circuit at Portland International Raceway. PIR might not be Daytona, and the 707-horsepower Challenger Hellcat might seem tame to a legend like ol' Jaws, but there's a not-small part of me that's thinking about how hard Dodge's fire-breathing kitty might bite.
Just a few hours previous, I'd gotten behind the wheel of the Hellcat for the first time, letting its hyperbole-spitting, supercharged V8 Hemi pull me yieldingly through Portland's morning commuter traffic. Lulled into a cocky certainty by the Challenger's good manners at low speed, I drove the throttle just a hair too deep, too fast when I ran on to the highway ramp. For just an instant the rear tires were utterly drenched in torque, and the back end of the big Dodge loosened up like a drift car on a wet track. Throttle steer lives at the fleeting whim of your right foot in this car.
It was no big thing to lay off the gas and pull the Hellcat back in line as I entered the highway, but the incident did get me to thinking: What will this car do to me on a road course?
