1978 Dodge Magnum XE
Offered for sale is this rare, highly optioned 1978 Dodge Magnum XE 2D Coupe. ALL original mid-size car in excellent condition. A near perfect, 100% complete, no rust at all, documented survivor (I am the third owner). Copies of some of the original documentation (Bill of Sale, window sticker and consumer advertisement) will be included. ONLY 36,650 original miles!!! The exterior paint (charcoal gray - sunfire metallic) is in excellent original condition (no repaint). A quick detail/buffing will make the car look brand new. The landau T- Bar vinyl roof (silver) is in excellent condition as well. The factory tinted glass and windshield are also in great condition, as are the T-tops. There is some very minor damage on the front of the car (driver side), where the bottom of the head light surround is cracked and the top of the bumper has a slight 2" bend. The chrome trim and bumpers are in great condition. The original wheels and hubcaps (aluminum fascia) are in great condition. The 360 V8 engine, 2 barell carburator and automatic torque flite transmission are all original and run as they should with no issues at all. The car is a pleasure to drive. The interior is light gray leather with recliner bucket seats, shag carpet (that's how it actually reads on the window sticker!) in gray. Everything inside, the door panels, console, dash, etc. is in excellent condition, except for a couple of cracks on the steering wheel. There is a blue cloth cover on the dash, but it's just to protect the dash. There are too many options to list. This car had just about everything on it from the factory. Of course it has AC. Hopefully you can read the window sticker I am posting if it's not too small.
It is very hard, if not impossible to find a '78 or '79 Magnum in this condition. You know what's available out there. I am only selling due to a dire storage situation. The car is attractively priced and has a reasonable reserve (I am not willing to give it away though!). It is well worth the investment and will be a very nice, smart addition to any car collection.
NOTE: I also have a spare 1978 Magnum GT which is complete. It could use an easy, inexpensive restoration. It is a little too nice still to be used solely as a parts car, but could be if that's what one wanted. I would sell the GT for $1750 (on a Bill of Sale only) to the Buyer of the XE. It is always a good idea to have extra parts or a spare car when you own one of these rare classics as they only made them for two years. The buyer might also get a better price on the transport if they pick up two cars at the same time; just thinking aloud. Attention: This car (GT) might be sold before the XE auction ends.
I also have some other spare parts (nothing NOS) available at a reasonable cost (A whole set of exterior trim, two tailight housings/lenses, two backup clear lenses, some interior panels, etc.). If the winning bidder on the XE is at or close to what I am expecting for the XE AND also buys the GT for the price indicated above, I might provide all these extra parts at no extra cost! (spent more than $ 1000 on them, just for extras).
A deposit of $520 is due immediately upon the end of the auction via PayPal. The remaining balance is due within 48 hours via Bank Wire. The Buyer is responsible for all transportation arrangements and costs to their location. Car(s) sold as is. All sales are final - no refunds, returns or exchanges.
Please feel free to email with any questions.
Thank you for looking!

Dodge celebrates centennial with Charger and Challenger 100th Anniversary Editions
Tue, 19 Nov 2013In 1914, the Dodge brothers went from being a parts supplier to a full-scale automaker, and to celebrate the centennial of this milestone, Dodge will offer special editions of the 2014 Charger and Challenger early next year. Both cars will be sold in limited numbers (although no specific number was given), and these cars will stand out thanks to unique touches like 20-inch wheels, 100th anniversary edition logos and the exclusive High Octane Red Pearl Coat paint job (shown above).
The 100th Anniversary Edition package, which runs $2,200 on the 2014 Charger and $2,500 on the 2014 Challenger, comes with red or black leather seats with a cloud print (for a denim-like look) and metal badges on the seatbacks that read "Dodge Est. 1914," while similar logos are also found on the wheel center caps and front fenders. The instrument gauges are unique to each car, with the Charger getting black gauges and the Challenger getting white gauges, and to enunciate the 100-year anniversary, both cars have red numerals on the speedometer for the 100-mile-per-hour mark.
Finishing off the 100th Anniversary Edition cars, which will be offered on V6 and R/T models, Dodge adds a flat-bottom steering wheel and embroidered floor mats as a part of the package. Scroll down for the full press release for these commemorative models.
Dodge Challenger Hellcat valet mode angers parking attendant
Thu, Mar 10 2016I spent over three years as a valet. It was good money and an excellent second job when I was getting my start as a writer – ten hours per week at the small restaurant I worked for was good for anywhere from $150 to $250. Over those years, I can say with absolute confidence I never goofed off in someone's car. Unfortunately, not all valets are so trustworthy. Like these idiots. Apparently, a Dodge Challenger Hellcat owner captured the valets at Universal Studios in Florida on his dashcam messing about behind the wheel of his 707-horsepower muscle car. One valet is behind the wheel and there's another riding shotgun as they aimlessly wander about the parking lot, lamenting the fact that the owner (wisely) engaged valet mode before handing over the keys. "We can't do anything," they whine. The owner, for his part, seemed pretty cool about the whole thing, writing in the YouTube description that he purposely kicked up the exposure at the end of the video to hide the identities of the valets. He also added that they didn't do anything wrong – this former valet agrees to disagree, based on the over four minutes it takes to actually park the car – and that he was thankful for valet mode. You can check out the video above – be warned, though, there is some language in it. And remember, if you valet your car, use valet mode, check the odometer when you drop off and pick up, and if everything checks out, give the poor guys a tip. Want more recent Hellcat news? Fiat Chrysler's profit boosted by Ram and Jeep in North America
Wed, Jul 31 2019MILAN/DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler took the market by surprise by sticking to its full-year profit guidance on Wednesday after a strong performance from its Ram pickup truck in North America helped it defy an industry slowdown. Chief Executive Mike Manley, in FCA's first earnings release since a failed attempt to merge with France's Renault, also left the door open to that or other deals. "We are open to opportunity," Manley said on a call with analysts. "I have no doubt why there still would be interest in it," he added, when pressed on what it would take to revive talks with Renault. Manley declined to comment further. FCA last month abandoned its $35 billion merger offer for Renault, blaming French politics for scuttling what would have been a landmark deal to create the world's third-biggest automaker. Manley said a merger was not a must-have and Fiat Chrysler's business plan was strong. The company said it remained confident its adjusted earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) would top last year's 6.7 billion euros ($7.5 billion). Given disappointing forecasts from other automakers this earnings season, FCA's confirmation of the outlook sent Milan-listed shares in the Italian-American automaker, whose other brands include Jeep, up over 4%. A broad-based auto sales downturn has rattled the sector, forcing FCA's competitors — including Renault, Daimler and Aston Martin — to cut their sales forecasts after second-quarter results, while U.S. carmaker Ford gave a weaker-than-expected 2019 profit outlook. Japan's Nissan, a long-term partner of Renault, said it would cut 12,500 jobs by 2023 after its earnings collapsed. In the second quarter FCA's adjusted EBIT totaled 1.52 billion euros, versus analysts' expectations of 1.43 billion euros, according to a Reuters poll. FCA's U.S. shipments were down 12% in the second quarter but the group said that the successful performance of its Ram brand resulted in an enhanced share of the large pickup truck market of 27.9%, up 7 percentage points from last year. Adjusted EBIT margin in North America rose to 8.9% from 6.5% in the first quarter, thanks to strong demand for the heavy-duty Ram and the new Jeep Gladiator pickup. Chief Financial Officer Richard Palmer also said FCA expected to report up to 10% margins in the region in both the third and fourth quarters.
