POWER EVERYTHING RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT HERE IS WHAT YOU MIGHT CONSIDER BAD NEWS: THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REMOVED AND STRAIGHT PIPE RUN TO AVOID BURNING THE ENGINE IN CASE OF A CONVERTER BLOCKAGE. BECAUSE OF THIS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE 2010 WHEN THE CONVERTER WAS DIAGNOSED AS BAD. THE O2 SENSORS CANNOT READ ACCURATELY WITHOUT IT, SO THE LIGHT IS STILL INDICATIVE OF A BAD CONVERTER/SENSOR TROUBLE CODE. IF YOU HAVE TO PASS EMISSIONS INSPECTIONS IT WILL NOT PASS. THIS VEHICLE HAS RUPTURED/CRACKED PRESSURE PLATES AND ALTHOUGH IT DRIVES/CONTROLS/STEERS FINE, IT DOES EMIT SLIGHTLY MORE ROAD NOISE THAN IT WOULD REPAIRED, BUT I DID NOT SEE A WAY TO JUSTIFY $1400.00 FOR THE REPAIR. ($700.00 PER SIDE) THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IS NOT GOING DOWN, BUT HAS NOT BEEN DOWN, SO THERE IS NO WATER DAMAGE WHATSOEVER. IT IS PROBABLY A CONNECTION IN A WIRE OR SWITCH. THERE IS BODY DAMAGE THROUGHOUT. THIS IS STRICTLY COSMETIC AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VEHICLE'S ALIGNMENT, STRUCTURE, OR OPERATION. THERE ARE THREE "SPOTS" ON THE WINDSHIELD WHERE ROCKS STRUCK IT IN TRAVEL. CLEAR FINGER NAIL POLISH WAS APPLIED IMMEDIATELY TO STOP ANY SPREADING. HEADLINER IS COMING LOOSE ESPECIALLY IN FRONT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN VERY DEPENDABLE AND HAS TAKEN OUR FAMILY ON VACATIONS ANNUALLY FROM ST. LOUIS TO NASHVILLE TO FLORIDA. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. HERE IS A WHAT I DISTINCTLY REMEMBER DOING AS MAINTENANCE: 2009: TUNE UP, PCV VALVE, FUEL FILTER, RADIATOR FLUSH AND FILL, BRAKES ALL AROUND UPON PURCHASE. 2010: REAR ENDED SO REAR BUMPER AND COVER WERE REPLACED. FRONT ROTOR WAS REPLACED FROM ACCIDENT. 2011: OIL DRAIN PAN & GASKET REPLACED. ALTERNATOR REPLACED. FRONT PADS REPLACED. 2012: NOTHING STANDS OUT, JUST REGULAR MAINTENANCE. 2013: FRONT PADS WERE DEFECTIVE AND COMING APART SO THEY WERE REPLACED AGAIN. VALVE COVER GASKET WAS REPLACED. 2014: TRANS SERVICE INCLUDING GASKET , FILTER, AND FLUID REPLACEMENT. ****REGULAR OIL & FILTER CHANGES WERE ALWAYS PERFORMED AT 3000 MILES-GIVE OR TAKE 500 MILES. THE AIR FILTER HAS ALSO BEEN REGULARLY REPLACED. THE VAN WILL BE DUE FOR A TUNE UP IN APP 30,000 MILES. A RADIATOR FLUSH AND FILL WILL ALSO BE A GOOD IDEA. FEEDBACK WILL GLADLY AND QUICKLY BE RETURNED AFTER IT IS RECEIVED, THANKS. A $200.00 DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED THROUGH PAYPAL WITHIN 24 HOURS TO SHOW YOUR SERIOUS GOOD FAITH. FULL PAYMENT AND PICKUP IS REQUIRED IN PERSON WITHIN THREE DAYS FOR SCHEDULING--NOT NECESSARILY PERFORMED---JUST SCHEDULED!! I CAN WORK WITH YOU ON THAT. |

Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]
Wed, 20 Aug 2014No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:
South Dakota dealer filled to brim with classic cars
Wed, 12 Mar 2014Other than the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and Mount Rushmore, South Dakota isn't generally a hot topic, but that just means that cool stuff can hide in the open waiting to be discovered. Case in point: the classic car dealer Frankman Motor Company that operates three locations in Sioux Falls, SD.
Unearthed by the folks at Bring a Trailer, Frankman is a treasure trove of vintage, American iron. Their collection is full of the type of vehicles your irresponsible but cool uncle would show up with when you were a kid. Even better, these cars are priced at a level a working man can afford.
If you are lusting about a cruiser then Frankman has a 1956 Cadillac Deville Hard Top Sedan (pictured right) with 82,896 miles for $12,975. It's painted a color called Cascade Grey, but looks more like a pastel purple in pictures. While it needs some repairs to the accessories, the Caddy runs and drives, which is all you really need.
Chrysler patents smarter minivan folding seats
Thu, 02 Jan 2014It's frightening to think of how quickly the mice would have overtaken us if we hadn't stayed one step ahead of them with better mousetraps. We'll never have to worry about that in our relentlessly re-engineered world, though. Case in point: Chrysler has been granted a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office for an improved design of the already wondrous Stow 'n' Go seating found in the automaker's Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans.
Introduced in 2005, the Stow 'n' Go was improved in 2008, and based on the drawings of this third-generation improvement, the new design appears to allow stowage of the second row of seats without having to move the front-row seats forward as much. It look like it also involves fewer operations and moving parts, with a portion of the seatback being incorporated into the flat floor when the seats are stowed, as opposed to having a completely separate cover.
It's possible that the innovation may appear on the next-generation minivans expected in 2015, but Chrysler isn't commenting on the patent.
