Your chance to own TV's "WRECKS to RICHES" final and best build of season one!

Named the "POISON DART” during the filming of Discovery Channel’s series “Wrecks to Riches” in 2005. Built by the famous Barry White and crew of Barry's Speed Shop SRRC in Corona, CA (supermusclecar.com/cars/dart/dart.html) and Ron Jenkins of Magnumforce Race Car Fabrication (magnumforce.com/magnumforce_tubular_kmember.htm); both very well known for quality craftsmanship. During the build, Rikki Rockett of the 80's rock band "Poison" autographed the center console and the "Poison Dart" name was born!

Started the transformation as a discarded 1969 Dart from Nevada with a solid, rust-free body that was stripped, blocked and painted a beautiful House of Kolor - Molly Orange with a matte black hood/scoop and trunk stripe. When it came to power, Barry replaced the stock 318ci for a Mopar Performance 472ci modern day Hemi! To deal with the extra heft and grunt, Barry called in Ron Jenkins to install one of his custom a-body tubular/racing k-members and weld in structural reinforcements and sub frame connectors to tie it all together.

HISTORY

Sold by Barry's Speed Shop in 2006 at the Russo and Steele auto auction to the sole owner since the build whom I purchased it from last year. In addition to the "filmed" $66,000 auction price, the previous owner spent an additional $14,000 by upgrading many of the off-the-shelf parts such as the exhaust with a fully hand welded work of art which included custom welded jet-hot coated headers, 3" custom welded stainless pipes with Magnaflow x-pipe and polished mufflers which not only looks awesome but sounds grrrreat and tucked up very nicely! He also added a much appreciated Gear Vendors Overdrive unit for effortless highway travel, cleaned up all the wiring, added subtle but necessary exterior touches and finally a set of Mooneyes tach, oil, volts and temp gauges.

Since I've owned it, I spent many hours and approximately $7,500 perfecting an already close to perfect build. Most notably, the stock 727 torqueflight and B&M street converter were not up to the task. I chose Level 10 performance transmissions in Hamburg, NJ (levelten.com) to custom build the 727 to be a 900hp capable "bullet-proof" unit with a brand new billet 9" 3,200 stall converter that really lays the power down.

Last but not least, I'm very particular about a clean and crisp throttle response so I contacted Hemi Specialist, John Arruzza (arruzzahighperformance.com) who jetted and flowed a brand new pair of Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS 650cfm carbs specifically for my application as well as a fully blueprinted distributor. The end result is a crisp throttle response and excellent light to heavy throttle transition that's smooth and precise.

All this labor and attention to detail translates to a truly "turn key" custom built “Super Muscle Car” with all the top of the line parts, modern day comforts and the high quality fit and finish one expects from a “one off” custom muscle machine of this caliber and price point forever immortalized on film!

I have numerous magazines that feature the Poison Dart as well as the original framed hand drawn rendering with the autographs of all those involved in the build as well as a DVD of the episode and a vender presentation sign for car shows that goes with the sale.

QB says University of Alabama offered him a Corvette to play football

Fri, 16 May 2014

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team could be in some hot water, following a pair of posts on social media.
The first post was sure to raise a few eyebrows on its own. It's an Instagram of sophomore running back Derrick Henry standing in front of his new Dodge Challenger (we're guessing it's an R/T based on the fender stripes). Complete with a custom set of wheels, the image was enough to trigger more than a few questions about where an unemployed student-athlete came up with the money for such a purchase. Now, this could be harmless. Henry, flush with a full-ride to Bama could have convinced his parents to get him something nice with his college fund.
The second post, though, is a straight-up accusation. It comes from former West Virginia Mountaineer and current CFL quarterback Pat White, who posted the following on his Facebook page.

Jay Leno gets his denim mitts on Dodge's new Challenger Hellcat

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is definitely the performance car of the moment. The fact that in the near future, people will be able to buy a 707-horsepower muscle machine straight from a major automaker for $59,995 and with a factory warranty almost seems absurd. We drove it recently and found the Hellcat to be just as much of a beast as its numbers would suggest. Now, it's a certain comedian's turn behind the wheel in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
This week's guest is Dodge President and CEO Tim Kuniskis, and he's there to drop all sorts of interesting factoids about the Hellcat. For example, its Pirelli P Zero tires retail at around $300 each, he says. That makes its smoky burnouts a rather expensive proposition. Kuniskis, who recently hinted at a mystery Woodward Dream Cruise debut, also talks about the genesis of the 2015 SRT project with a goal to get over some of the standard Challenger's weight and size disadvantages. The fix is a supercharged V8, massive brakes and other goodies to smooth over the platform's more glaring shortcomings.
Leno appears to get a big kick out of the Hellcat. However, he can't seem to stop bringing up his desire to drive one with a six-speed manual. They obviously exist, but Kuniskis has an eight-speed automatic for the retired Tonight Show host to try out. Of course, as with any Hellcat video, there has to be at least one burnout. Despite the expensive tires, it seems like enthusiast's law at this point - and dear ol' Jay wouldn't want to break any rules, would he?

Sunday Drive: Spying an automotive future of performance

Sun, May 13 2018

I spy, with my little eye ... the future of the automotive world here in the United States. That pretty much sums up this week's Sunday Drive, in which we pull out the most popular stories on Autoblog of the previous week and try to draw some sort of conclusion as to what binds them all together. This week, it's spy shots, starting with one of the biggest and baddest muscle cars the world has ever seen: the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. The Hellish coupe gets a new hood for 2019 with dual scoops, but that's about the only meaningful change for the new model year. No matter. As long as it's packing 700-plus horsepower under those two hood scoops, all will be right with the world. Moving on, we take keep the performance angle but move it from the street to the dirt with a new version of the Chevy Colorado ZR2 that we think is probably called the Bison. We think it'll keep the high-tech suspension bits of the regular ZR2, but add expedition gear that may include a snorkel and a winch. Which, if true, is pretty dang cool. Keeping the truck theme is the 2019 GMC Sierra. There's nothing particularly noteworthy about the trim level in which the truck was spied, and that's what makes this specific example interesting. Base-model trucks almost never get much attention, but they sell in droves to workers who need an honest-to-goodness truck for work or play and don't care about bells, whistles, or massive chrome badges. And finally we have the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, which is on fire on the sales floor right now. But those are all V6-powered Wranglers flying off the showroom floor. Soon, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine option will become available, and now we know that it will return up to 23 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway. That makes it the most fuel efficient Wrangler that Jeep has ever sold. As always, stay tuned to Autoblog this week for all the automotive news that's fit to publish. 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat with twin-scoop hood spied with no camouflage Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison caught testing 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 spied in base trim level 2018 Jeep Wrangler four-cylinder fuel economy revealed Spy Photos Chevrolet Dodge GMC Jeep Truck Coupe SUV Off-Road Vehicles Performance dodge challenger srt hellcat sunday drive
