Dodge Charger Hellcat makes 1,032 hp with Hennessey help
Fri, Feb 26 2016Sometimes you just want four doors. Earlier this week we brought you Hennessey's riff on the Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Now comes the Charger. Much like its two-door sibling, the Charger gets boosted to as much as 1,032 hp and 987 lb-ft of torque (at the crank) thanks to the addition of a twin-turbocharging setup that works with the factory supercharger. The turbo headers and downpipes are stainless steel, and there is a high-flow air-to-water intercooler and dual-turbo waste gates. Hennessey also beefs up the fuel injectors, fuel pump, and the rest of the fuel system. The engine management system and chassis are recalibrated to accommodate all of this. You also get numbered plaques signed by John Hennessey, the boss of the Texas tuning outfit, and the technician who does your build. Hennessey's additions result in zero-to-60 mph sprints in 2.7 seconds, and the big sedan can run the quarter mile in 9.9 seconds at 142 mph. Like the Challenger, the Charger has the same disclaimer: the lofty horsepower figure comes from an engine dyno, and it will be a 15-to 20-percent lower at the rear wheels. Fri, Apr 10 2015The Autoblog team recently returned from wildly running around the Javits Center to cover all the news and debuts at the New York Auto Show. Sometimes, it's nice to take a more serene look at the exhibition floor, though, and the event's organizers are providing that exact opportunity by flying a drone through the hall. Combined with the down-tempo music, this clip feels like a form of automotive meditation. If you're going to miss the show in the Big Apple, the drone also provides a good overview at the exhibition floor, especially at the stands from Lexus, Buick, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and BMW. Plus, it's a fun way to see some vehicles from a completely different angle than they ever appear on the road. Chrysler recalling over 280k minivans because airbags may deploy on wrong side
Mon, 08 Jul 2013Chrysler has issued a recall for some 2013 Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan and Ram C/V Tradesman vans built between May 10, 2012 and June 7, 2013. These vehicles may have a software error that would cause the wrong side (opposite side) airbags to deploy in a crash. With this defect, a left-side impact would cause the right-side airbag to deploy, etc.
The recall affects 281,500 vehicles in total: 224k in the US, 49,300 in Canada, 2,900 in Mexico and 5,300 in other locations. Chrysler will notify owners of effected vehicles, and reflash the offending occupant restraint control module to resolve the issue.
