UP FOR SALE IS MY 1972 DODGE DEMON. THIS DEMON IS A REAL H CODE 340CI. ALSO IT IS A REAL 4 SPEED CAR. I HAD A REAL 1971 340 4 SPEED CAR WHEN I WAS 18 YRS. OLD. I GUESS YOU COULD SAY IT IS A MID LIFE BUILD. THE REASON I'M SELLING IT IS BECAUSE I HAVE A VERY RARE BRAIN DISEASE, CALLED M. S. A. [ MULTIPLE SYSTEMS ATROPHY ] I HAVE LOST ALL OF MY MOTOR SKILLS. IT IS A PROGRESSIVE DISEASE THAT IS FATAL WITH NO KNOWN TREATMENT AND OF COURSE NO KNOWN CURE. IT'S A HORRIBLE DISEASE AND PAINFUL. WELL ENOUGH SAID. THAT IS WHY IT HAS TO GO TO SOMEONE THAT WILL COMPLETE WHAT I ALMOST FINISHED BEFORE I HAD TO FACE THE FACTS, THAT I NO LONGER HAD THE ABILITY TO FINISH IT THE WAY I WANTED. I BUILT THIS DEMON EXACTLY THE WAY MY 71 WAS. THE MOTOR WAS GONE THROUGH WITH ALL NEW PARTS ONE OF THE X HEADS HAD A STRIPPED THREAD ON THE ROCKER ASSEMBLY SO I REPLACED IT WITH A J HEAD AND SENT BOTH HEADS OUT TO BE DONE THE SAME COMPITITION VALVE JOB ALL NEW ROCKERS VALVES SHAFTS SHIMS BOLTS EVERYTHING NEW ON BOTH HEADS. ENGINE IS ALL NEW NEW OIL PUMP PISTONS RODS BEARINGS EVERYTHING. NICE PURPLE CAM,SPRINGS THUMPS NICE. THE INTERIOR IS NEW LEGENDARY NEW CARPET HEADLINER DOOR PANNELS.ITS NICE I INSTALLED A NEW 391 POSI. CHUNCK. WITH NEW AXELS WITH GREEN BEARINGS,WITH LARGE BOLT PATTERN, AND 11 INCH DRUMS WITH 3 INCH SHOES, THE FRONT HAS DISK BRAKE CONVERSION, NEW BOOSTER AND MASTER CYL. ENGINE HAS WIEAND DUAL PLAIN MANIFOLD WITH NEW 850CFM DOUBLE PUMP DEMON CARB. I WANTED THE 71 340 DASH BUT COULD NOT LOCATE ONE AT THE TIME, I HAVE SINCE FOUND ONE AND IT GOES TO THE NEW OWNER. BECAUSE OF MY DISEASE I MODIFIED THE ONE IN THE CAR TO BE ABLE TO INSTALL THE 71 DASH, BECAUSE I CAN'T EVEN HOLD OR USE A SCREW DRIVER ANYMORE I CAN BARELY WALK NOW SO DRIVEING A 4 SPEED IS A PROBLEM. THERE IS A NEW GAS TANK ALL NEW BRAKE LINES. ENGINE HAS CHROME DRESS UP KIT INCLUDING OIL PAN. I COULD NOT FINISH THE DASH SO ONLY THE AMP GAGE WORKS BUT I DID INSTALL NEW AUTO METER GAGE CLUSTER INSIDE CAR WATER OIL AND AMP. FROM SITTING I THINK THE POWER STEERING PUMP SEAL IS LEAKING, SO IT MAY NEED A REBUILD OR REPLACED. CAR RUNS GREAT IS FAST AND NICE. I HAVE NO MEDICAL INS. AND MY PRESCRIPTIONS ARE KILLING ME. THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD LOCALLY I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION AT ANYTIME. I HAVE DESCRIBED THE CAR AS HONESTLY AS I COULD ANY QUESTIONS CALL 215-801-7731 CAR IS SOLD AS IS. SHIPPING IS THE BUYERS RESPONSIBILITY! THANKS FOR LOOKING GOOD LUCK BIDDING.

2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop hits the pavement ahead of Detroit
Tue, 07 Jan 2014Dodge is getting ready to spread the Blacktop-themed love to the smallest member of its lineup. Last year, the automaker offered up Blacktop versions of the Avenger, Challenger, Charger, Durango, Grand Caravan and Journey. And now the Dart, too, gets its dark on for 2014, with the $295 package offered on Dart SXT models equipped with the Rallye Appearance Group. The Dart Blacktop will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week.
As with the other Blacktop special-edition models, the Dart Blacktop gets glossy black accents for a "sporty, sinister look." The blacked-out treatment spreads across the 18-inch wheels to the crosshair grille, grille surround and headlamp bezels. The interior sees a similar treatment, with black and light tungsten or black and ruby red cloth to go with red accent stitching on the instrument panel, center console and seat bolsters.
For the 2014 model year, all Dart SXT and Limited models receive the 2.4-liter MultiAir2 Tigershark engine with 184 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque, and since the Blacktop is based on the SXT, that's the powerplant buyers of this special-edition will get, too. Expect the 2014 Dart Blacktop to hit dealers in the first quarter, and while you're waiting, feel free to read more in the official press release below.
Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures
Tue, Jun 23 2020It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
Leno recalls '90s showdown with Tim Allen and his mullet
Wed, Oct 7 2015Not many of us have buddies with garages full of classic cars, but that isn't the case for Jay Leno and Tim Allen. Of course, one of the advantages for two guys with such vast collections is occasionally getting to pit their cars against each other. The two comedians did just that in the mid-'90s with a burnout battle on The Tonight Show between Allen in a race-prepped Mustang and Leno in a drag racer. After some time away from regular television, Leno is returning to the airwaves with a Jay Leno's Garage series premiering on Oct. 7 (tonight) at 10:00 p.m. ET on CNBC. Let this clip serve as another taste of what to expect for the new TV show's mix of comedy and cars. After reminiscing about the old days in a gorgeous garage, the comedians get into two modern machines to reprise the classic challenge – after a little trash talk anyway. Don't worry because the YouTube series isn't going anywhere, though.
