For sale is a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340, 4 speed
History: The Dart was born with a 340, 3 speed manual transmission on the floor, Hemi orange exterior and black interior. I purchased the Dart several years ago from my neighbor and he had owned it since 2004. My neighbor purchased it from the original owner and the Dart is a California car. The vin, door tag, fender tag and the hidden vin underneath the trunk lip all match. I also have the build sheet. There were 13,785 Dodge Dart swinger 340's built in 1970. Of those cars, 6582 were built with an automatic transmission and 5744 were built with a 4 speed manual on the floor. There were only 1,459 built with a three speed manual on the floor. So as far as 1970 Dart Swinger 340's go, the 3 speed is the rarest. Exterior: The Dart has no rust issues and the body is in pretty good shape but does have two dents. The dents are both on the left side rear quarter panel (see the last two photos). The original paint was badly faded and I really like the flat dark gray/black look, so I sprayed the Dart with dark gray primer. All the chrome is original and all the glass looks good, except for the front windshield which has a crack that runs from top to bottom. Interior: Since I have owned it, I put in new carpet, headliner, and a package tray. The rear seat and dash pad has some tears/rips and the front seat is not the original bench seat. The sun visors will need to be replaced. Engine: The 340 engine and the 4 speed transmission that are in the Dart right now came out of a 1969 cuda. The engine was rebuilt about 8 years ago with high quality parts. The engine and transmission do not leak anything and both run great. There is about 20,000 miles put on the rebuilt engine. The heads from the original engine are on the cuda engine and the heads have a U stamped on them. I have the original engine which goes with the Dart but I do not have the original 3 speed transmission. There is nothing wrong with the original engine. Wheels: The rims are Show wheel Streeters 17x7 with 225x45x17 Falken times. The rims and tires have about 3,000 miles on them. If you don't want the rims that are on it, I can put on black Mopar steel rims which have newer tires and Mopar dog dish hub caps. If you choose the steel wheels instead of the Show wheels, you can deduct $500 off the price. Everything works on the Dart as it should, except for oil pressure gauge. I put in a new oil pressure sending unit but it didn't fix the problem. I'm guessing that the gauge itself doesn't work. The Dart is currently registered and I drive it about once or twice a week. The furthest I have driven the Dart in one shot was about 120 miles. The Dart starts right up every time and it is a blast to drive. The Dart has always been garaged kept since I have owned it. I hate to sell the Dart but I have had my fun with it and it's time to let someone else enjoy it. The Dart would be an excellent restoration project or it could just be enjoyed as it sits. For any questions just send me a message. See the photo for the decoded fender tag. |

Dodge Charger to slim down and run turbo four in next generation
Tue, May 31 2016The current Dodge Charger is getting long in the tooth. It was originally introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model. In car terms, that's an eternity, though it's been refreshed twice. Still, FCA US will keep the LX-generation car going, reportedly facelifting it one last time for 2019. After that, there are some bigger changes in store . Automotive News is reporting that the follower to the current LX Charger will lose almost 500 pounds and will once again offer a turbo four-cylinder. You might remember the front-wheel-drive four-banger Charger of the early '80s. The recharged sedan will be twin-turbo and it's going to use the 300-horsepower four-cylinder engine currently under development for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, AN says. The target weight for the future car is around 3,500 lbs, while the current car has a curb weight of nearly 4,000 lbs. Look for it to arrive in the early 2020s. The new platform will have a touch of Italian flair instead of the Daimler-Benz flavor embedded deep inside the LX cars. It will be built on an extended version of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia's "Giorgio" platform, according to AN. Dealers were already shown a styling-buck almost a year ago. 2015 Ford Mustang vs. Camaro and Challenger [w/poll]
Thu, 17 Jul 2014The horsepower wars are tightening among the Detroit Three, as the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger are getting bigger, more powerful, and yes, more fuel efficient.
That came into sharper focus this week as more information was revealed about the most insane Challenger ever - the 707-horsepower Hellcat - followed quickly by Ford's in-depth showcase of the 2015 Mustang in Dearborn.
It's shaping up to be a golden age for enthusiasts, and what's under the hood is becoming more important than ever.
Dodge Viper GTS-R goes back to old-school livery
Fri, 20 Jun 2014The Dodge Viper may have been around now for over 20 years, but as far as racing achievements go, 2000 was its finest season. That's when it won the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the GTS class trophy at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and its second consecutive title in the American Le Mans Series.
Since then, SRT Motorsports hasn't quite had the same success, withdrawing from Le Mans this year and shedding the Dodge name and its emblematic red and white livery for the SRT badge and a silver snakeskin theme. But now that the Viper is back under the Dodge banner, so too is the racing team returning to its classic livery.
Starting from the six-hour race at Watkins Glen next week, both the No. 91 and No. 93 Viper GTS-Rs will wear the red base color with twin white racing stripes that its more accomplished forebears wore on circuits around the world. And with it, maybe the Viper will return once again to the winner's circle at home and abroad.
