1968 Dodge Dart 2-door Hardtop. Factory 4-speed! Look! on 2040-cars
Burlington, Washington, United States
Good deal on a rare factory 4-speed A-Body. 1968 Dodge Dart 2-door Hardtop equipped with performance built Mopar 360cid V8 (less than 500 miles!), desirable 4-spd transmission, performance clutch, power steering, front disc brakes and 3:31 posi rear-end. Seriously, when was the last time you saw a Mopar A-Body 4-speed? Additional desirable features include brand new radial tires, factory wheel covers, dual exhaust, rear sway bar and recent front suspension parts. Desirable black bucket seat interior with some nice, recent upgrades, including; new factory seat foam inserts, new factory correct seat covers, dash pad and replacement carpet. Uncut dash, with proper unaltered openings for twin thumb dial OE radio. Car has desirable double-bulge factory GT hood, cool amber colored front grille parking lights and one-year-only round side marker lights (all functional). Body is in old primer and is rough, showing both age and wear with some OE replacement panels included. Glass is complete and good. Although the car drives great and has a nice feel to it, the real value in this vehicle is in the drivetrain and long list of other desirable features (motor, trans, posi, power steering, disc brake set-up, new interior components, etc). Motor has very few miles since complete rebuild with many performance parts including MSD ignition, performance distributor, intake manifold, carb, etc. Starts easy, runs great and sounds fantastic. Nice medium grind cam that has just enough loap for that serious muscle car attitude. Loads of fun to drive (especially with the 4-speed), handles like a go-kart, and is a car, even in its "joe-dirt work-in-progress condition," that gets positive attention every time out of the garage!!! Lots of time, effort and resource already invested -- drive, rod or restore this one -- or great candidate for race car or Mopar donor (car could be parted out for more than sell price), or simply drive and enjoy while making further upgrades. Clean and clear title and current tabs. Serious, capable buyers only please. Price is fair and firm. Thanks. 360-510-1386 or 503-830-7385. |

Thieves relieve Detroit-area Dodge dealer of $70,000 in SRT wheels
Tue, Apr 26 2016Okay Mopar fans, this won't be easy to read. A video, which has since been made private, popped up over on Reddit's Cars subreddit over the weekend and detailed the aftermath of a massive wheel heist at a metro Detroit dealership. Thieves broke into Sterling Heights Dodge and made off with at least $70,000 worth of wheels and tires. The thieves ignored the V6 models and instead targeted Hellcat, SRT392, Scat Pack, and R/T versions of the Charger and Challenger. The poor muscle cars were left sitting on blocks, with the voice behind the video saying the treatment led to underbody damage. We only counted 12 cars, but the person shooting the video said thieves targeted 14 vehicles. That works out to about $5,000 in wheels per vehicle. We've reached out to Sterling Heights Dodge general manager and the Sterling Heights Police Department for comments. We haven't heard back yet, but we'll be sure to update this post with any additional information. Oh, and if you're in metro Detroit and perusing Craigslist for a new set of alloys, we'd advise against buying Dodge wheels for the next few weeks. They might be hot. Related Video:
Will airbags sandbag the 2017 Dodge Viper?
Thu, Jan 14 2016The Dodge Viper is speeding down the road to cancellation for the 2017 model year, and at least part of the reason for the V10 monster's death is a problem fitting it with federally mandated side curtain airbags. An anonymous source close to FCA US told Motor Trend the automaker can't install the parts because they would further limit the coupe's already tight headroom. The government believes the side curtain airbags can reduce occupant ejections during accidents, and all vehicles must have them for the 2017 model year. The Viper's slow sales also don't provide FCA US much motivation to work out a solution to this problem. The automaker moved just 676 of the handmade sports coupes in the US in 2015, which was down 11 percent from 760 deliveries in 2014. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne hinted at the Detroit Auto Show that the Viper could return eventually. He doesn't like that the current model has a dedicated platform but indicated a new one could share the underpinnings with another of the company's products. Marchionne's current business plan for FCA stresses building the automaker's value, so it might be a while before we see the sweater-clad CEO focusing on a niche vehicle like the Viper. The Chrysler brand could be axed under Stellantis management
Sun, Jan 3 2021MILAN — While running NissanÂ’s North American operations from 2009 to 2011, Carlos Tavares had a reputation for closely watching costs with little tolerance for vehicles or ventures that didnÂ’t make money. Experts say that means Tavares, currently the head of PSA Group, is likely to follow that blueprint when he becomes leader of a merged PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The low-performing Chrysler brand might get the axe as could slow-selling cars, SUVs or trucks that lack potential. Already the companies are talking about consolidating vehicle platforms — the underpinnings and powertrains — to save billions in engineering and manufacturing costs. That could mean job losses in Italy, Germany and Michigan as PSA Peugeot technology is integrated into North American and Italian vehicles. “You canÂ’t be cost efficient if you keep the entire scale of both companies,” said Karl Brauer, executive analyst for the iSeeCars.com auto website. “WeÂ’ve seen this show before, and weÂ’re going to see it again where they economize these platforms across continents, across multiple markets.” Shareholders of both companies are to meet Monday to vote on the merger to form the worldÂ’s fourth-largest automaker, to be called Stellantis. The deal received EU regulatory approval just before Christmas. Tavares, who for years has wanted to sell PSA vehicles in the U.S., wonÂ’t take full control of the merged companies until the end of January at the earliest. He likely will target Europe for consolidation first, because thatÂ’s where Fiat vehicles overlap extensively with PSAÂ’s, said IHS Markit Principal Auto Analyst Stephanie Brinley. Europe has been a money-loser for FCA, and factories in Italy are operating way below capacity — a concern for unions, given FiatÂ’s role as the largest private sector employer in the country. “We are at a crossroads,Â’Â’ said Michele De Palma of the FIOM CGIL metalworkersÂ’ union. “Either there is a relaunch, or there is a slow agonizing closure of industry, in particular the auto industry, in Italy.” ItalyÂ’s hopes lie with the luxury Maserati and sporty Alfa Romeo brands, but De Palma said investments are needed to bring hybrid and electric technology up to speed. FiatÂ’s Italian capacity stands at 1.5 million vehicles, but only a few hundred thousand are being produced each year. Most factories were on rolling short-term layoffs due to lack of demand, even before the pandemic.
