Dodge Dakota Sport Roadster Convertible 4x4 on 2040-cars
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States
PRIVATE SELLER. This is an all original , stock truck exactly how it left the showroom in 1989. It has been garage kept its entire life. All new tires, new battery, all just serviced. The body and undercarriage is no rust at all. The paint has a nice shine. The top is brand new with no wear at all. The interior has no rips or tears and is in amazing condition. The truck starts, stops, shifts through all gears without issue, and runs as it should. I have a clear Florida title in my name, that matches my fl drivers license. There is another Dakota truck on here for $16,500. This one is less than half and just as nice condition, this is to show that I am listing this truck to sell, not waste anyone's time. This truck is a 4X4, perfect winter and summer. A local inspection is welcome. The usual, as-is where-is, with no warranty or any type. The truck is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells. I put the "buy it now" at a very fair price for a truck that is in this condition. I am happy to bring the truck to any local port or work with your shipper to transport at your expense. This is a pickup and a jeep all wrapped in one. It needs no restoration, just a new garage and owner. ITEMS to be addressed: there is a small crack in the dash, the drivers side front fender has a very slight discoloration in the clear coat( wet sand and re clear) , the paint is fine. There is a small noise from the front wheel, not sure what it is, but nothing that has needed to be addressed while I have driven. The radio is factory, it works, but it's factory. The speaker grill is broken in one door. That is about it, those minor items and the truck is perfect. Payments and delivery: deposit via paypal, balance via bank wire transfer or cash in person. Will release the truck\title when all funds clear my bank. Happy to store the truck(if paid in full) , for up to 30 days. Yes I would fly in and drive this truck anywhere . Questions : Philip 954-234-5770 text or voicemail is best, can return messages/calls when out of the office. Great google info on the truck: There's no denying that the Chevrolet SSR is a sexy hot rod. Its cab magically transforms from a fully enclosed state to convertible form in less than 30 seconds. Chevrolet even advertises it as the "American street machine." Chevy rightly claims that it builds the world's first production truck with a retractable hardtop, but the SSR is not the first convertible pickup in the industry. Ford began offering a factory-built roadster with a truck bed in the spring of 1925, and continued to offer the combination through 1934. When Ford concluded production, the convertible truck idea faded away. It wasn't until decades later that customized convertible trucks began to gain status on the West Coast. By 1989, Dodge capitalized on the growing popularity of the specialty pickup market with the introduction of the Dakota Sport convertible. This was the first postwar production ragtop pickup, and Dodge billed it as "the ultimate fun truck." {It is still the only postwar production ragtop pickup.} The Dakota Sport convertible featured a manual vinyl top that could be folded back and covered with a boot, or completely removed. The unique hauler was based on a two-door pickup with a metal roof on its cab, and was assembled at Chrysler's Dodge City truck complex in Warren, Michigan. From there, the trucks were shipped to American Sunroof Co. (ASC) several suburbs away. ASC sliced the roof off and added the necessary components to turn it into a convertible for open-air excitement. These Dakota Sport convertibles were sold as either as 4x2s or shift-on-the-fly 4x4s with a base price of $14,425. All {only in 1989} trucks came fitted with a 125-hp, fuel-injected V-6 mated with a five-speed manual or optional three-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment included an integral padded sport roll bar; 15-in., cast-aluminum wheels; a tachometer; an AM/FM stereo cassette radio; deluxe wipers; power steering, power windows, and door locks; dual remote outside mirrors; and fog lights. Exterior paint choices were red, black, or white with the grill, bumpers, headlight bezels, wheel lip moldings, door and tailgate handles painted black. Decorative details on the convertible included an acrylic ram's head hood medallion plus added tape graphics on the body sides and tailgate. Dodge impressed 2,842 Dakota Sport convertible buyers in 1989. While the Dakota Sport convertible continued for 1990 with the 3.9-liter V-6, it was joined by a second variation, the Dakota SE convertible truck. The SE came powered by a standard 2.5-liter engine and smooth-shifting, five-speed manual overdrive transmission. Colors for 1990 were Colorado Red, Bright White, and Daytona Blue, or black. A mere 1,039 {writer's mistake, there were 909} units were sold. Legend has it that another eight Dakota Sport convertibles were built in 1991 by ASC to complete the remainder of its contract with Dodge. Beginning in 2003, ASC was once again involved with the realization of a convertible pickup, but now it is with Chevrolet and its SSR, and this time the manufacturing procedure is reversed from how the Dodge Dakota convertible used to be constructed. ASC first partially builds the SSR before it is shipped to General Motors for final assembly in the Lansing factory. Obviously, the Chevy SSR is ultra cool, but with a 2004 base sticker price of $41,370, it's a rather pricey vehicle. |

Dodge whips covers off 2013 Blacktop series
Thu, 10 Jan 2013Dodge introduced us to its Blacktop model lineup a year ago with the 2012 Charger and followed up with more recently with the 2013 Challenger and 2013 Avenger. Now the automaker will be applying this ominous-looking treatment to the Durango, Grand Caravan and Journey models for 2013 as well. These models will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show, but Dodge has released most of the details for these new products including pricing and availability.
If the Grand Caravan R/T (aka, the Man Van) wasn't aggressive enough for you or its $30,000 starting price was a little too pricey, then the 2013 Grand Caravan Blacktop could be the ticket. Starting with the SXT trim level (which stickers at $19,995), the Blacktop package costs only $595, and adds unique features such as blacked-out headlights, grille and fog lights bezels and an all-black interior. The van rides on black-accented, 17-inch aluminum wheels. The Grand Caravan Blacktop is only available in monochromatic paint schemes limited to Billet Silver, Brilliant Black, Maximum Steel, Redline Red and Stone White
Likewise, the 2013 Journey Blacktop is offered only on the SXT model (starting at $18,995) with all of the crossover's normal options such as four- and six-cylinder engines, five- or seven-passenger seating and front- or all-wheel drive. The Blacktop package adds $995 to the Journey SXT's price and features many of the same black accents as the Grand Caravan like the headlights, grille, door mirrors and lower fascia. Exterior colors are limited to Bright Silver, Bright Red, Brilliant Black, Brilliant Red Tri-Coat, White, Pearl White Tri-Coat and Storm Grey, and the package's 19-inch wheels come in Gloss Black. Inside, the Journey Blacktop comes standard with black cloth seats and Chrysler's 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen, but black leather is also available as an option.
Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles
Mon, May 13 2024It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.
Consumer Reports says Ram 1500 tops fuel economy fight [w/video]
Wed, Aug 27 2014Consumer Reports takes its independent vehicle testing procedures seriously. In an era when we have to question the EPA's official ratings thanks to recent re-evaluations from Ford and Hyundai, an independent voice is important. So, when CR says something is the best, it's worth paying attention to. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has "about the same fuel-economy numbers that we typically see in a midsized SUV." – Jake Fisher In this case, CR took a look at the fuel economy of the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and found that it came out on top of the fullsize pickup truck pack. The Ram did so with 20 miles per gallon overall and 27 mpg on the highway. CR gave the truck a total road test score of 82. The EPA says that the EcoDiesel 1500 gets 28 mpg on the highway, 20 mpg city and 23 mpg combined. Comparing official EPA numbers, the Ram is also the best among trucks in its class. It's nice when people agree on something. As we know from first-hand, long-distance experience, you can push the 1500 EcoDiesel to 38 mpg. CR found in its own testing that the truck had, "about the same fuel-economy numbers that we typically see in a midsized SUV," said Jake Fisher, CR's director of automotive testing, in a statement. Speaking of midsized SUVs, CR also announced this week that the new Toyota Highlander Hybrid got the top spot in CR's ratings in that category. CR liked pretty much everything about the SUV, saying that the "transitions between electric power and the gas engine are seamless" and that, "the new Highlander also handles better, with a steadier ride and reduced body lean in corners." You can find more at the CR website, in the October print issue of Consumer Reports or in the video and press release below. This content is hosted by a third party. RAM ECODIESEL 1500 TOPS CONSUMER REPORTS FULL-SIZE PICKUP TRUCK RATINGS Redesigned Toyota Highlander Hybrid Climbs to Top of Midsized SUV List Yonkers, N.Y.- The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel climbed to the top of Consumer Reports' full-size pickup truck ratings with an impressive performance in the organization's fuel economy tests. The EcoDiesel (82 point overall road test score) turned in a best-in-class fuel economy of 20 mpg overall and 27 mpg on the highway, to help it score better than the previously tested Ram 1500 V8 (81) regular gas version and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT (80).
