Chrysler recalling over 280k minivans because airbags may deploy on wrong side
Mon, 08 Jul 2013Chrysler has issued a recall for some 2013 Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan and Ram C/V Tradesman vans built between May 10, 2012 and June 7, 2013. These vehicles may have a software error that would cause the wrong side (opposite side) airbags to deploy in a crash. With this defect, a left-side impact would cause the right-side airbag to deploy, etc.
The recall affects 281,500 vehicles in total: 224k in the US, 49,300 in Canada, 2,900 in Mexico and 5,300 in other locations. Chrysler will notify owners of effected vehicles, and reflash the offending occupant restraint control module to resolve the issue. It ain't easy keeping a Hellcat steady at 170 mph on ice
Mon, Mar 28 2016The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat you see hit the ice at Arsunda Speed Weekend in Sweden, over two hours north of Stockholm. It's said to be bone stock, save for the studded tires that help it grip on ice. But it apparently takes more than some steel studs and a lead foot to keep it pointed the right way. Just look at how much driver Alx Danielsson has to saw at the wheel to keep the Hellcat from veering off course. Fortunately he seems to have the chops to do so, being not only a native of Sweden (and therefor imbued from birth with otherworldly abilities to drive on ice) but also having won the highly competitive Formula Renault 3.5 Series championship back in 2006. In the end Danielsson hit a top speed in excess of 170 miles per hour, touted as some sort of record, however unofficial (and specific to Dodge Challengers). That's a fair bit shy of the 205 mph that Bentley achieved in the Continental Supersports, but while that model had slightly less power than the Hellcat, it did have the benefit of all-wheel drive – something that could make all the difference in these kinds of slippery conditions. Sat, 16 Aug 2014If you're an enthusiast, and you don't know that Dodge spawned another Hellcat this week, you really must have been living in cave. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is probably the biggest news for enthusiasts since the reveal of, well the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
But, there are some things you might not know or might have missed about the new Charger and Challenger Hellcats. For starters, reports that the Hellcat production would be limited to a low volume are not true.
"We have not capped the Hellcat on either the Challenger or the Charger," Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said.
