Here is what you get:
-1997 Dodge Dakaota sport V6 with Extended Cab and matching red camper shell!

Here are some good things about the truck:
-Engine runs good
-I bought this from a Dodge dealership used in 2000, and have always done oil changes on time.
-It just had a fresh oil change a couple of weeks ago and have been using the upgraded high mileage oil for a while.
-I am the second owner, although the title was changed to my Mom's name so technically she owns it now. (Title free, clear, and on hand)
-Has a nice matching red camper shell (see photo) that cost 1k$ new in 2000. Camper has brake light and interior light
-6 seat belts for passengers (3 in front, 3 in back)
-Non smoking
-Interior is decent for car of this age  (see photo)
-Nice bench in back  (see photo) w 2 cupholders (also 2 more cupholders in front)....storage compartments underneath rear bench
-Tires are good and fairly new (see photo)
-Brand new Registration and Inspection stickers  (see photo)
-Kenwood tape player, though I mainly use the radio (there once was a cd changer installed on floor behind middle console) (see photo)
-Good battery and terminals
-Honest Seller with clean driving record

Here are all of the not so good things that I am aware of:
-Overdrive makes a noise when engaged (I've been disengaging it with the "O/D off" button so that I can drive around town when I have errands that require the truck)
-Paint is old and chipping (especially on hood) (see photo)
-Very small dent on passengers side front fender that has some rust (see photo)...There are other various small scratches, and maybe a few small dings (nothing you wouldn't expect out of a used truck of this age).
-A/C condenser is leaking I believe, so won't hold free-on. Also, there is a small amount of black foam material in the a/c vents that came loose.
-Glove Box latch is broken and won't open w/o screwdriver...Other than that, dashboard in good shape  (see photo)
-Little plastic cosmetic piece on driver door is missing  (see photo)
-The front end makes a little noise when going over a speed bumps...probably just needs some newer shocks in front...
-Driver visor is splitting at seam a little...does not affect functionality...(see photo)
-Ceiling fabric has fallen a little (see photo)
-Camper shell needs to have lights hooked back up (probably a simple repair you could do yourself for a couple of bucks)
-Camper shell needs to be reset so it will lock properly...

Here is a list of a few repairs that have been made over the years:
-Transmission rebuilt in 2002 or 2003
-Water pump replaced around 2005
-Radiator replaced around 2005

Basically, many of these things can usually be expected on trucks these age, but I wanted to be completely transparent about what you are getting. This has been my main source of transportation for 14 years with mostly local driving in Austin area. I would expect this truck to keep running for quite a while if taken care of. That said, there is no warranty expressed or implied and this truck is sold "as is", so bid accordingly.

Here are my terms:
-100$ deposit required though paypal within 24 hours auction end.
-Balance can be paid with Paypal within 48 hours auction end, or cash in person at a Tax Office in Austin TX within 3 days auction end.
-We will meet at a tax office in Austin, TX during business hours to complete transaction, and all necessary paperwork within three business days of auction end.

Dodge CEO and Gas Monkey Garage dissect the 10-second Challenger Hellcat

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

So far, whenever we've seen the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with its 707-horsepower, supercharged Hellcat V8, the muscle car has been smoking its tires. Dodge is finally proving that the SRT can do more than ruin perfectly good sets of rubber, though. In it's latest video, company CEO Tim Kuniskis hands the Hellcat off to the guys from Gas Monkey Garage to show how quickly the automaker's most powerful model can make it down the drag strip.
Of course, the only fitting contender to race against Dodge's latest top muscle car is its grandpa - a Hemi-powered 1971 Challenger, in this case. Before getting to the main event, the hosts also show off some of the SRT's unique features like the blanks in the grille that feed the intercoolers. We'll go ahead and spoil that the Hellcat makes its pass in the 10-second range, and the video admits the tires on the production version would take just a touch longer to cover the quarter-mile. However, you have to watch film to see just how quick it actually goes. Scroll down to see a classic example of American muscle drag racing against its modern legacy.

Brand new cars are being sold with defective Takata airbags

Wed, Jun 1 2016

If you just bought a 2016 Audi TT, 2017 Audi R8, 2016–17 Mitsubishi i-MiEV, or 2016 Volkswagen CC, we have some unsettling news for you. A report provided to a US Senate committee that oversees the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and reported on by Automotive News claims these vehicles were sold with defective Takata airbags. And it gets worse. Toyota and FCA are called out in the report for continuing to build vehicles that will need to be recalled down the line for the same issue. That's not all. The report also states that of the airbags that have been replaced already in the Takata recall campaign, 2.1 million will need to eventually be replaced again. They don't have the drying agent that prevents the degradation of the ammonium nitrate, which can lead to explosions that can destroy the airbag housing and propel metal fragments at occupants. So these airbags are out there already. We're not done yet. There's also a stockpile of about 580,000 airbags waiting to be installed in cars coming in to have their defective airbags replaced. These 580k airbags also don't have the drying agent. They'll need to be replaced down the road, too. A new vehicle with a defective Takata airbag should be safe to drive, but that margin of safety decreases with time. If all this has you spinning around in a frustrated, agitated mess, there's a silver lining that is better than it sounds. So take a breath, run your fingers through your hair, and read on. Our best evidence right now demonstrates that defective Takata airbags – those without the drying agent that prevents humidity from degrading the ammonium nitrate propellant – aren't dangerous yet. It takes a long period of time combined with high humidity for them to reach the point where they can rupture their housing and cause serious injury. It's a matter of years, not days. So a new vehicle with a defective Takata airbag should be safe to drive, but that margin of safety decreases with time – and six years seems to be about as early as the degradation happens in the worst possible scenario. All this is small comfort for the millions of people who just realized their brand-new car has a time bomb installed in the wheel or dashboard, or the owners who waited patiently to have their airbags replaced only to discover that the new airbag is probably defective in the same way (although newer and safer!) as the old one.

The Dodge Demon sheds some weight in pursuit of speed

Thu, Jan 19 2017

The Dodge Demon teaser train isn't stopping until it hits New York City. In case you need a reminder, the upcoming Demon is the more pedestrian Hellcat's stripped-down and hopped-up sibling that promises to be built for the sole purpose of traveling a quarter-mile mile quicker than any of its rivals. The weekly video rollout on www.ifyouknowyouknow.com continues with the latest sneak peak, "Reduction." While there were early rumors that the Demon may pack an all-wheel-drive system and in turn gain enough grip to rotate the Earth underneath it, Dodge and SRT look to be going down a simpler route. The press release reveals the Demon is 200 pounds lighter than the standard Hellcat. It's unclear where all that weight is coming from, but at nearly 4,500 pounds, the Challenger Hellcat could stand to go on a bit of a diet. The video hints at adjustments to the wheels, steering, suspension, and brakes, as well as some modifications to the car's interior. Don't be surprised if the Demon is a bare bones stripper model with no back seat, no A/C, and no radio. Who needs music when you have 2.4-liter supercharger and a 6.2-liter Hemi V8 making sweet love under the hood?
