A 1995 DODGE DAKOTA TWO WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP IN GREAT CONDITION. IT HAS A CURRENT N.J. STATE INSPECTION UNTIL JULY 2015. IT HAS THE 3.9 LITER V6 ENGINE WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE. I PURCHASED IT FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER LAST OCTOBER WITH 74,442 MILES AND ONLY PUT ON ABOUT 1,500 MILES ON IT. WITH ONLY 75,920 MILES IT IS BARELY BROKEN IN. THE STEERING IS TIGHT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISION WORK GREAT. IT HAS A GOOD SET OF MICHELIN TIRES ON IT. WHEN I FIRST GOT IT I INSTALLED A NEW WATER PUMP,THERMOSTAT, ENGINE BELT AND HOSES. I CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER PLUS THE AIR FILTER AND INSTALLED FOUR NEW SHOCK ABSORBERS. I REPLACED THE A/C DRIER AND HOSES BUT WHEN I CHARGED THE SYSTEM THE FREON LEAKED OUT AFTER A FEW DAYS. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. I INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY THIS SUMMER. THIS IS THE LONG BED MODEL THAT WILL CARRY EIGHT FOOT LONG MATERIAL WITH THE TAILGATE CLOSED. IT HAS A NICE BED LINER THAT YOU CAN PARTITION OFF TO SECURE THE LOAD. THE BODY IS STRAIGHT AND SOLID WITH ONLY A MINOR DENT IN THE RIGHT QUARTER PANEL WHERE I DROPPED A PIECE OF FIREWOOD DURING SANDY CLEANUP. YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME AND INSPECT IT IN RINGOES N.J. Dodge, Jeep and Ram could soon be owned by Chinese automakers
Mon, Aug 14 2017For the past several years, Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has made it widely known that the automaker he helms is up for grabs. First, he sent an email to GM CEO Mary Barra, who immediately refused to even discuss a merger. Later, Marchionne set his sights on Volkswagen. That too was swiftly rebuffed. It seemed like no global automaker was remotely interested in a partnership. Now, Automotive News reports that several Chinese automakers have come calling, only FCA isn't ready to answer. At least not yet. The news broke this morning that a major Chinese automaker had made an offer to purchase FCA for slightly above market value. FCA refused, saying the offer wasn't quite generous enough. It's unclear which automaker made the offer, but Automotive News says there's more than one interested party. FCA representatives have recently traveled to China to meet with Great Wall Motors, while Chinese representatives were seen at FCA corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. The Chinese government has a lot of money invested in local automakers. It's putting pressure on these automakers to expand globally, including to the United States. As it stands, it's a matter of when a Chinese automaker will start selling cars here, not if. Purchasing an established automaker with a wide range of products and a huge dealer network would do wonders in giving the Chinese a foothold here. Sure, Geely owns Volvo, but a luxury automaker doesn't have nearly as much reach as a more mainstream company like FCA. This seems like the best case scenario for both a Chinese automaker looking to move into the U.S. and for FCA, at least from a business standpoint. The latter doesn't seem to have any other interested parties. It will be interesting to see how FCA would sell a deal like this to the public. We're not sure everyone will be happy with Dodge, Jeep and Ram falling under Chinese ownership. FCA didn't turn down the Chinese because they didn't like the idea. It turned down the offer because there wasn't enough money on the table. Related Video: News Source: Automotive News Earnings/Financials Alfa Romeo Chrysler Dodge Fiat Jeep RAM
Dodge Charger to slim down and run turbo four in next generation
Tue, May 31 2016The current Dodge Charger is getting long in the tooth. It was originally introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model. In car terms, that's an eternity, though it's been refreshed twice. Still, FCA US will keep the LX-generation car going, reportedly facelifting it one last time for 2019. After that, there are some bigger changes in store . Automotive News is reporting that the follower to the current LX Charger will lose almost 500 pounds and will once again offer a turbo four-cylinder. You might remember the front-wheel-drive four-banger Charger of the early '80s. The recharged sedan will be twin-turbo and it's going to use the 300-horsepower four-cylinder engine currently under development for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, AN says. The target weight for the future car is around 3,500 lbs, while the current car has a curb weight of nearly 4,000 lbs. Look for it to arrive in the early 2020s. The new platform will have a touch of Italian flair instead of the Daimler-Benz flavor embedded deep inside the LX cars. It will be built on an extended version of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia's "Giorgio" platform, according to AN. Dealers were already shown a styling-buck almost a year ago. Chrysler killing off the 200 Convertible, Dodge Avenger
Sun, 23 Feb 2014When Chrysler rolled out the first-generation 200 to replace the Sebring range in 2010, it included replacements for both the sedan and the convertible. The Sebring Coupe, however, was left out of the mix. And now that the second-generation Chrysler 200 is descending upon us, Auburn Hills is paring things down even further. But this time, it's the convertible that reportedly isn't making the cut. Shame, too, since the rendering above shows what could have been quite an attractive droptop.
As our compatriots at Edmunds point out, sales of the convertible model accounted for less than five percent of overall Chrysler 200 sales, and at those numbers, the considerable cost of engineering a new drop-top couldn't be justified. With the Toyota Camry Solara and Volkswagen Eos also gone from the market (well, the VW isn't gone quite yet), the discontinuation of the Chrysler 200 Convertible leaves the affordable convertible segment largely to the sportier likes of the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro and smaller European offerings like the Mini Cooper and VW Beetle.
The Chrysler 200 Convertible isn't the only derivative being left behind with the new model: so too is the Dodge Avenger. That will leave a glaring hole in the Dodge lineup, with nothing to bridge the gap between the compact Dart and the larger Charger. Whether the Dodge brand has any plans to replace the Avenger with another model, not to be based on the 200, remains to be seen.
