Ashland, Kentucky, United States
1990 Dodge Dakota Convertible, brought from Florida last spring, No Rust on Body. Runs and drives great, Drove from Kentucky to Nebraska and back in May. Previous owner in Florida removed Carpet and put spray in Bed liner on floor and in Bed of truck. Bucket seats and console. Original paint on most of truck, some scratches and front end has been repainted. Drivers door has a dent that has been pushed out. Some fading but overall truck looks great. Convertible top is not very old, window is clear and no damage to top. The metal band over windshield that was installed by ASC when they built truck has rust on it but nowhere else on truck. Chrome is in great shape everywhere on truck.Tires have 50% left but have some weather checking. All match and are correct P215/75R15 size. The anti lock light is on and I replaced the anti lock sensor but light did not go off. The previous owner also removed the catalytic convertor and air pump system. The previous owner replaced the brakes all around, the upper and lower ball joints and inner and outer tie rods. I replaced the master cylinder, heater core, wiper motor and made the center caps for the wheels. - unfortunately one is gone. After the trip to Nebraska I had the Transmission rebuilt and replaced the torque convertor with an rebuilt unit. When I picked up truck in Florida I was told it would drive home to Ky with no problems. I made it maybe 50 miles before it started to get hot. I never let it overheat (boil over). In trying to get the truck home I ended up replacing the water pump, fan clutch, thermostat, head gaskets, intake and exhaust gaskets and the truck still was getting warm. The new radiator that had been installed by the previous owner was clogged up with stop leak! Replaced the radiator and it is great.A/C works good. This is a great running, driving and looking original truck.

How fracking is causing Chrysler minivans to sit on Detroit's riverfront
Fri, 25 Apr 2014It's fascinating the way that one change to a complex system can have all sorts of unintended consequences. For instance, there are hundreds of new Chrysler Town and County and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans built in Windsor, Ontario, sitting in lots on the Detroit waterfront because of the energy boom in the Bakken oil field in the northern US and parts of Canada.
The huge amount of crude oil coming from these sites mostly use freight trains for transport, and that supply boom has resulted in a shortage of railcars to carry other goods. According to The Windsor Star, North American crude oil transport by train has gone from 9,500 carloads in 2008 to 434,032 carloads in 2013. Making matters worse, some North American rail infrastructure is still damaged because of this year's harsh winter, and that's slowing things down even further.
Chrysler admits to The Star that it has had some delivery delays due to the freight train shortage. In the meantime, it's using more trucks to deliver its vehicles. Trucking is a far less economical solution, partially because a train can carry so many more units at one time, but alternatives are slim. The Windsor plant alone has a deal for 33 trucks to distribute the minivans around Canada and the Midwestern US.
Hellcat no help to Fiat-Chrysler's bottom-of-the-pile mpg average
Wed, Oct 15 2014What, you expected the "fastest muscle car ever" to help fleetwide fuel economy? Nope, don't think that's going to happen. That means Fiat Chrysler will likely to continue to languish at the bottom of the heap when it comes to fleetwide fuel economy among the largest automakers serving the US, especially as the automaker starts to sell its Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. A few hundred Fiat 500E electric vehicles aren't going to turn the trend around. See, Chrysler has once again finished at the bottom of the list when it came to fleetwide fuel economy among automakers for 2014 model-year vehicles, according to a preliminary study by the US Environmental Protection Agency. Chrysler and Fiat had an average of 21.1 miles per gallon. That substantially lagged the overall 24.2 mpg average, but it was an increase from the company's 20.9 mpg average last year and the 20.1 mpg average two years prior. For 2014, General Motors had the second-worst fleetwide fuel economy at an even 22 mpg. Fiat Chrysler does say it's working on improving its fuel economy, according to Automotive News. The company plans on making its inline-four-cylinder and V6 engines smaller, and will sell more vehicles with eight- and nine-speed transmissions. Heck, there's even a plug-in hybrid version of the Chrysler Town & Country minivan in the works for late 2015, and the company can tout fuel-efficiency gains with the Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee. We would be remiss if we didn't note that, compared to its muscle-car forefathers, the Hellcat actually performs pretty well at the pump. Last month, word got out that the 2015 Challenger Hellcat, equipped either with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, got a combined fuel economy of 16 mpg. Heck, the automatic-tranny version got 22 mpg on the highway. And that's for a car with 707 horsepower and a 10-second quarter-mile time. Still, with the pedal floored, the car can burn a gallon and a half of fuel per minute. Ouch.
2019 Ram 1500 features an updated Ram's head badge
Fri, Jan 19 2018Full-size truck owners love to make a statement. That's how we've arrived at the mile-high grilles, acres of chrome and belt buckle-esque badging you'll find on trucks like the Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150 and Nissan Titan. The new 2019 Ram 1500 made its debut this week at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. While the sheetmetal and grille are the most obvious visual changes, the ram's head badge quietly got a modern redesign. At first glance, it appears to be the same badge that's graced Dodge and Ram vehicles for decades. Look closely and you'll see that this new one is all squared off, ditching all the curves for straight edges. It looks chiseled rather than carved and is a far cry from the detailed Ram's head that made a debut back in 1981. It also incorporates the new "RAM" lettering that replaced the crosshair in the truck's grille. View 4 Photos Little things like this do a lot to keep a vehicle fresh. Dodge seems to be the only automaker capable of changing logos anymore. Ford and Chevy are stuck with the blue oval and bowtie, so why not take advantage of a newer nameplate?
