For sale here is my old Dodge pickup. I have owned this truck for a little over a year and put pver 14,000 miles on it in that time. It has been a very good and dependable little truck. In my estimation, the Dakota is a far better and more useful "small" truck than either a Ranger or an S-10. I drove this truck back and forth between Washington, D.C. and Columbus, OH three different times, hauling a motorcycle twice and had no troubles. The 3.9L engine pulls strong enough to maintain 80mph through the hills of West Virginia. The air conditioner blows cold air; I did recharge the freon once. I recently replaced the oxygen sensor and spark plugs which improved the mileage a bit. I have kept track of mileage, gas usage, and oil changes since I owned the truck and will provide those records to the buyer. It gets around 18mpg.
This era of Dodge was painted with the Chrysler Corporation's first attempt at water-based paint and as you may know, they didn't do so well. These were famous for having big sections of paint peel off, and this truck is no exception. The previous owner covered any exposed primer or metal, however. Granted, I think he used Dutch Boy and a brush, but it protected the metal. There are a couple of very minor surface rust spots, and no through rust ANYWHERE on this truck. It's a very solid candidate for a repaint. I thought about putting a Dogde 360 in it, but I have too many toys and projects right now and don't need any more.
I had been using this truck every day until a couple weeks ago when the transmission started slipping. It slips badly now. The truck will start and run, but can't be driven above an idle speed or the transmission just slips. I have another pickup truck that I can use when I need a truck and a bike to ride when I don't, so I don't need this little truck anymore. This would be a fun project to make a hot rod pickup with. Or, if someone just wants to put a transmission in it I see no reason why it wouldn't go many more thousands of miles... but it's not going to be me! I'm starting the auction at one dollar! So just bid one dollar more than the last guy and it's yours.
I can help to load the truck onto a trailer but that's it. I will not help in shipping beyond handing over the keys. The truck is located in Columbus, OH. Please ask any questions you have prior to bidding and I will do my best to answer them. Best to ask before the weekend as I will be at National Guard Drill Saturday and Sunday....
Thanks for looking, and Happy Bidding!

Chrysler recalling 280k Dodge Ram 1500 pickups over axle seizures
Fri, Dec 19 2014Following a June investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will be recalling 280,000 Dodge Ram pickups from model year 2005. The issue, NHTSA told The Detroit News, centered on a loose pinion nut, which could cause the rear axle to seize and, potentially, the driveshaft to detach. The affected vehicles were built between January of 2004 and August of 2005, while of the 280,000 trucks, only 257,000 were sold in the US market. According to The News, the recall will begin on February 13, and will see owners report to dealerships to have "a retention feature" added to the pinion nut.
Dodge shows can-do attitude with grand Can'avan sculpture
Fri, 01 Nov 2013There are lots of ways to celebrate an important birthday, and all of them are well deserved. You can throw a big party, buy yourself something nice, or - if you're the altruistic type - do something for others in need. The latter is how Chrysler has opted to mark the 30th anniversary of its Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country.
Together with hunger-advocacy organization Canstruction, the Chrysler Foundation has built a full-scale replica of the Grand Caravan out of 30,000 food cans in the square at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, a ways down the highway from where the real vans are built in Windsor. The sculpture was built over the course of 10 hours by 30 volunteers and was displayed earlier this week.
Now the installation is being taken down, and the cans of food are being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which will assemble them into 2,000 food baskets to be distributed to those in need through its network of 200 food banks across the Canadian metropolis. Check out a neat time-lapse video of the build and the press release below.
This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum
Tue, Aug 27 2019Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Many of them will need work, depending on quality standards, but this seems like a golden opportunity to find a classic car without leaving a bank account in shambles. The auctions are open for bidding online now, and the full auction will take place on September 14. Check out the full listings and bid at VanDerBrink Auctions.
