Real R/t, Not A Clone, All Original Sheetmetal, 4 Speed on 2040-cars
Hayes, Virginia, United States
ONE OF ABOUT 1100 FACTORY 440 FOUR SPEEDS BUILT
I restored this beautiful Coronet R/T to original condition. Its a real deal R/T that is as solid and reliable as any late model car. Not a show car, this car is ready for the road but it wont take much to bring it up to the next show level. This is the best color combination and everywhere it goes, it gets compliments and always draws a crowd at car shows. The paint is basecoat/clearcoat TT1 medium green metallic with the correct dual band bumblebee stripe that has been painted on. It also has a new Legendary vinyl top that looks great. It comes with a set of Wheel Vintiques 15" Magnum 500s on BFG Radials with about 5000 miles on them, not the Keystones in the pictures. The interior of the car is also new from Legendary including seat covers, door panels and carpet. Everything works. The original 440 has 906 heads with some port work, a vintage Edelbrock TM7 intake, a Holley 870 Street Avenger carb, an older DC .509 purple shaft cam, an 8 qt Milodon oil pan, a Mopar chrome box ignition and headers with a new exhaust. All of the original parts come with it. It runs strong but getting tired and could probably use some freshening up. The transmission is an 18 spline "Hemi crash box" 4 speed with a Dana 60 rear with 3.54 gears, all factory installed and documented. I put a new Centerforce clutch in it recently. Manual steering and brakes. This is a real deal musclecar without the fluff. It came without a console from the factory but I have a correct green console that is available separately. The car also came with power windows from the factory but have been retrofitted with easier to use and find parts for crank-up windows. Every panel on the car is the original from the factory. There are some holes in the trunk floor but does not need an entire new floor to properly repair it. That is the only rust on the car and I mean it. The chrome is all there and could use some detailing. I removed the chrome rocker moldings because I like the cleaner look without them but they come with the car with new clips if you wish to reinstall them. I have owned this car since 2001 and representing it the best I can. The car is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction anytime. This is an auction and I will not reveal the reserve. |

SRT reveals Satin Vapor Edition 300, Charger and Challenger SRT models
Fri, 07 Feb 2014With the exception of some notable truck and van introductions, Chrysler brands have tended to use the Chicago Auto Show to bring out new special editions, pimp their aftermarket parts support or indulge in the occasional flight of fancy. That plan is holding true for 2014, as well. Cases in point are these new Satin Vapor Editions of the 2014-model-year Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 - all from SRT.
The Satin Vapor name may sound like a failed 1970s glam-rock band, or a pseudo-gynecological diagnosis from the Old West, but is, in fact, pretty much a tape-and-trim package for this trio of hi-po Mopars. 300, Challenger and Charger alike come shod with 20-inch aluminum wheels finished in Black Satin Vapor Chrome, and are accented with Satin Black bits aplenty. The 300 gets blacked-out mirrors, spoiler and roof; the Challenger applies it to mirrors and its fuel door; while the Charger has the stuff covering its roof, hood and Super Bee tail graphic.
Interiors of the cars have been mildly updated as well, with all three getting some combination of Nappa leather, ultra-suede and carbon-fiberish finishes.
McLaren, Koenigsegg, Toyota, Ford, Dodge and Corvette Lego kits announced for 2021
Tue, May 4 2021Lego has announced a slew of car-themed sets for 2021. The six kits comprise nine vehicles and fall under the brick pusher's Speed Champion line of official OEM-licensed kits. News of their arrival comes from German toy retailer JB Spielwaren's pre-order listings, which show three single-car sets and three dual-car sets of matched marques. Starting with the McLaren Elva roadster, the kit consists of 263 pieces and is finished in blue. It seems to have a difficult time capturing the curves of the real-life Elva, but there's only so much you can do with a bunch of plastic blocks. Lego has made several other McLaren kits before, including the Senna, 720S, and a more advanced Senna GTR for the Technics line. Next up is the Koenigsegg Jesko, made up of 280 pieces and finished in white. Though the real-life Jesko is still curvy, this kit does a better job of replicating its aggressive maw, vents and cantilevered rear wing. Rounding out the single-car sets is the 299-piece Toyota GR Supra in yellow. This marks the first time Toyota has lent their license to Lego. Again, it struggles a bit to represent the curvy Supra, relying on printed details like logos and headlights to identify. On the other hand, the Chevrolet two-car does a stupendous job with the 1968 Corvette. The C3 is instantly recognizable as such. The C8-R race car it's paired with suffers from the same issues as some of the previous cars, though. The set contains 512 pieces, and funnily enough the C8 driver has short hair while the C3 driver sports a period-correct wavy mane. The next set is a 627-piece Mopar-themed pair, including a purple (Plum Crazy?) 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A and an SRT top fuel dragster. The race car is spot on, but the Challenger was probably tough to make given the width restrictions. It looks a couple of pegs too narrow compared to the wide proportions of the real deal. Last but not least, the Ford set contains a Bronco R and Ford GT Heritage Edition. Consisting of 660 pieces, the set does an excellent job of representing both cars. The GT looks faithful in its Gulf livery, and the Bronco R looks more like a real Bronco than the actual Bronco R race truck. All in all, it's always fun to see more Lego sets with real cars, and we're glad to see more manufacturers added to the roster. The single-car sets are recommended for ages 7 and up, while the double-car sets have an 8 years and up rating. Price in U.S.
NHTSA investigating Chrysler for airbags, ignition switches
Wed, 18 Jun 2014Chrysler is being targeted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a pair of actions that focus on over 1.2 million Jeeps, minivans and crossovers.
The first is a "preliminary investigation" that focuses on an airbag issue afflicting the Jeep Commander built in model years 2006 and 2007 and Grand Cherokee from 2005 to 2006. In total, 700,000 vehicles could potentially be affected. It's not entirely clear what the airbag issue is, with The Detroit Free Press simply stating that the restraint systems in the affected Jeeps may be "faulty."
The other investigation is what's called a "recall query" and it covers a problem that General Motors should be familiar with. In this case, there could be a problem with the ignition switches of 525,000 vehicles, ranging from 2008 to 2010 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans, to the 2008 to 2010 Dodge Journey crossover. Again, it's not entirely clear what sort of behavior prompted the 32 complaints that NHTSA has received on these vehicles.
