1969 1/2 Dodge Super Bee A12 Six Pack Survivor on 2040-cars
Bangor, Maine, United States
Survivor F6 Green 1969 1/2 A12 Super Bee. 24,000 original mile car. Original Window Sticker, Title and Many Docs. Original Paint. Original Matching #’s Engine. Original Fender Tag Original 054 Radiator Original Air Cleaner and carbs. Auto on the column. The car was purchased by my father two years ago from the second owner.. The Super Bee was used as a weekend warrior from day one. It original owner (now deceased) was best friends with the second owner. The original engine was pulled early in its life and a race engine was installed. The original engine was reinstalled by the second owner prior to my father purchasing the Bee. The car has 24K original miles however it can be assumed that the engine has far less than 24K miles. The car has not been cut up at all with the exception of a small area in the tunnel where a race shifter was installed. This is a very small area. We pulled off the deep sump oil pan and replaced it with a stock oil pan. At that time we looked into the bottom end of the engine and the engine looks like new with original pistons still in place. The trans has been replaced most likely at the time the race engine was installed. It now has a manual reverse valve body. The original Dana is still in place however at some point the gears were changed to a 3.73 ratio which actually makes for very nice highway cruising. The car still has line loc installed from the early 70’s. It works perfect and is hidden in the ash tray. At the time the original engine was installed back in the car the prior owner chose to spray the engine bay again. This is the only major area of the car that was repainted. The entire exterior is original paint except minor stone chip touch up. That being said if you have not seen an original paint car do not expect this car to appear to look like a base coat clear paint job. The paint is exceptional for 43 year old paint but it is not a glossy show car. It has factory orange peel and factory flaws. As you can see in the photos, the only rust issue is a very small hole approximately the size of an eraser on a pencil right in front of the passenger side tire. The tops of the front fenders have tell tale signs of weekend wrenching on the race engine that was removed. Elbow dings run up and down the tops of the fenders. The dings are noticeable but not obtrusive. They actually give the car part of its character. Some of you with a keen eye may have noticed the hood scoop is larger than a factory hood and probaby assumed it was a reproduction hood. It is not. It is the original hood to this car . The original hood was modified by a prior owner in an attempt to accept more air into the scoop. The original carbs are intact with the exception of the center carb which was replaced with an aftermarket at some point. The original center carb is in the trunk and is included in the sale. The car runs exceptionally well. It could be driven reliably anywhere and starts every time. It is very unique car being that it is unrestored and still very, very nice. The wheels and tires are Correct Reproductions. The wheels are reproduction H code wheels that have correct dates, stampings and size. The spare is an original H code wheel. The correct dimple lug nuts are also installed. The tires are reproduction Goodyear G-60-15’s. These are all new with a total cost of just over $4,000. I will address every issue that we are aware of with the car. -Aftermarket radio was removed and a factory 8 track was installed however is not hooked up and or working yet. -Engine bay items have been modified, IE Factory air cleaner lid has been chromed, power steering box is chromed, wrong valve covers, engine harness has been modified to accept electronic ignition, battery is now mounted in the trunk, headers installed. A couple weekends could put this engine bay area back to an original appearance. -Trans needs to warm up for a couple minutes and then runs fine. If you attempt to take off when cold it slips slightly. Once warmed up it runs like a bear with no slippage. Not sure why but guessing it may have something to do with the race build on the trans? -Traction bars and Hijacker air shocks installed. I would remove them. Your choice. -Keystone aftermarket rear mud flaps are installed only with wheel opening molding factory screw location. Easily removed if needed.
-Side Scoops were added and are not original to this car. Reason my dad is selling this car is simply because it is way too nice to restore and my father wants a project car. He has just retired and is looking to start a resto on one of our projects. The car is priced very fair for a Survivor A12 Bee. There is nothing hiding on this car. You can pay $70K and up for a restored one that may have had every panel replaced but you will not get many chances to own an A12 that has never been taken apart. He is aware he will never replace this car again. Please let me know what you need to see for pics and I will get you what you need. I will answer email late each night. Thank you and good luck bidding. I have many photos especially of the underneath however was unable to add anymore photos. Let me know if you want more photos and I can send them to you. |

Dodge recalls 2011-2016 Charger to give owners wheel chocks
Wed, Feb 3 2016A bizarre new recall gives wheel chocks to Dodge Charger owners so that people remain safe while changing the sedan's wheels. The campaign covers 441,578 examples of the 2011-2016 Charger in the US; plus 19,229 in Canada; 4,969 in Mexico, and 38,947 outside the NAFTA region. According to Dodge's announcement, owners should use the chocks to stabilize the Charger when using a jack to change the wheels, like in the case of a flat tire. Without them it's possible for the sedan to fall off the jack. The company is aware of three minor hand injuries from this problem. Dodge will notify owners by mail when they can pick up the free wheel chocks. FCA US spokesperson Eric Mayne offered Autoblog a more detailed explanation about this recall. "The body structure of this vehicle is unique. If owner's manual instructions are not followed, slippage may occur. Chocks are being provided to help ensure the instructions are followed," he said. "We are continually analyzing warranty data to identify ways to improve the ownership experience. When tire-jack data was reviewed, we identified a need to further assist our customers." Statement: Wheel Chocks February 3, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - FCA US LLC is conducting a voluntary safety recall to supply wheel chocks for an estimated 441,578 full-size sedans in the U.S. The chocks are for use, as instructed in the vehicle's owner's manual, when employing a tire jack to change wheels. When positioned diagonally opposite to the wheel being changed, the chocks will help stabilize the vehicle. Failure to follow the manual's instructions with an affected vehicle may cause the vehicle to come off the tire jack. FCA US is aware of three related injuries – all minor. The recall is limited to 2011-2016 Dodge Chargers. Also affected by the campaign are an estimated 19,229 cars in Canada; 4,969 in Mexico and 38,947 outside the NAFTA region. Recall notices will advise affected customers when they may obtain their wheel chocks, which will be supplied free of charge. Customers with questions or concerns may call the FCA US Customer Care Center at 1-800-853-1403.
2015 Dodge Challenger SRT 392
Mon, Mar 9 2015I've just started reading the third installment in a planned five-book biography of Lyndon Baines Johnson, Master of the Senate, written by the incomparable Robert Caro. Conveniently, a recent trip to drive the BMW X6 M and 228i Convertible was to be staged in Austin, TX, within easy driving distance of LBJ's birthplace, Johnson City. And yes, the city is named for his family. Having completed my duties with the Bimmers, I borrowed the spangled 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 you see above, to squire me around the Texas capitol for a weekend, and as a lift out to the Hill Country homestead of our 36th President. Johnson City isn't exactly a road trip mecca, but there's a pretty good brewery, a museum, the reconstructed LBJ house to take snapshots of, and it's a nice drive to get out there if you've got a 485-horsepower muscle car at your disposal. Driving Notes With the heroic Hellcat, this 392 and the R/T Scat Pack (that Brandon Turkus reviewed recently), there are more SRT-treated Challengers to choose from than ever before. There are 707 obvious reasons that the Hellkitty is the top dog (as it were), but there are important difference between this 392 and the Scat Pack, too. Both cars make use of the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 putting out 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, but the 392 also gets an adaptive suspension, six-piston Brembo brake calipers (instead of four-piston), wider tires, leather and Alcantara seats, a heated steering wheel, a louder stereo and HID headlights. When LBJ was campaigning for his seat in the House of Representatives, he would've loved to have something as potent as this monster of a V8 under the hood of his canvassing car. The 6.4L snorts with authority before it sends the big coupe forward to just about any speed I'd ask of it, and with a quickness. Johnson was known for haranguing drivers to step on it, when all that stood between himself and a few more votes was the ability to fit one more stump speech into the day. The 392 feels as though it could cover a quarter of the state of Texas in a morning if you throttle down deep enough (faster even than the Johnson City Windmill, I'd guess). Though there's a six-speed manual available, I'm actually quite fond of the eight-speed automatic in the 392. The two-pedal setup better suits the fast-cruiser attitude of the car, and it never served up any poorly conceived shift logic when I left it in D. Of course, the roads are better now than they were in the 1930s and 40s, too.
