This auction is for a "RARE" 1966 Dodge Coronet 440.  California desert car with next to no rust and still has the original Warranty card. I purchased the car in Palm Desert CA in December 2003. It has the original matching # 361ci motor and automatic transmission with power steering. Manual brakes - but turned drums, rebuilt wheel cylinders and fresh brake shoes. Hooker headers with Flowmaster Series 20 mufflers with a nice deep throaty sound, and has set off car alarms. It has a very aggressive cam which makes it hard to start at times. The car was originally KK medium turqouis as seen in the engine compartment pictures. It was painted at Maaco in June 2008 a Dodge Signal Green including all jambs, with a hot rod matte black hood color - cost $1,541. It's been garaged ever since. Although it's not true to car, I would recommend a matte black ribbon at the rear of the car for balance. Both front and rear sets repaded and recovered by West Coast Customs for $1,068. Front bumper straightened and re-chromed by Keystone in Stockton CA. New gas tank, gommet, filler neck seal, and elbows.  New trunk mat, divider insulation, and spare tire cover. New truck lid seal installed. New front and back door panels. New black carpet from Jim's Auto Parts. Under the carpet, we installed noise and heat insulation pad. New glove box liner and headliner insulation not yet installed. But do have bows and clips. New hood to cowl seal installed. New Edelbrock intake manifold with Edelbrock 600 cfm carb. The car had a huge tunnel ram intake with way too much carb.when I purchased. The body trim pieces were rattle can painted flat black - but didn't stick as you can see in the pics. They need to be removed and either stripped of the paint or powder coated flat black. New hood insulation installed. Car has ALL the correct badges and letters. Beautiful classic Mopar rally rims with 60R/15 BF Goodrich tires all around purchased at Stockton Wheels for about $1,000. New KYB shocks on all four. Mallory electronic iginition. Accell Super Coil.  Dash in decent shape but needs work. Speedometer and gas level not working. Rear deck lid needs to be finished. Front windshield has a chip in it - and all other glass is great. I do have some misc. parts that go with the car.

This is NOT a frame off restoration. It was a car my son and I worked on and he drove all through high school. He's now graduated from college and moving overseas. We love this car and both of us hate to see it go. It's not a showroom car but a quality daily driver and close to being finished.

This car is sold in "As Is" condition with no warranties implied or agreed upon. PayPal payment highly preferred. Clear CA Title with current registration.

Chrysler recalling 700k minivans and Dodge Journey for ignition switch woes

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

General Motors isn't the only automaker with ignition switch problems. Chrysler is fighting it too and is now announcing a recall of 695,957 examples worldwide of the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2008-2010 model years, plus the 2009-2010 Dodge Journey.
According to a statement from Chrysler, the models have a bad wireless ignition node detent ring in the ignition switch, making it possible for drivers to appear to have the key in the "Run" position but for the spring not to fully engage. It can then slip back to the "Accessory" position and shut the car off. If this happens, the vehicle loses power steering, brake boost and the airbags.
There is some disparity about the number of vehicles affected under this recall. In its statement, Chrysler claims that it covers 525,206 vehicles in the US, 102,892 in Canada, 25,591 in Mexico and 42,268 elsewhere. However, the recall announcement posted by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists an estimated 438,109 vehicles in the US. Chrysler spokesperson Nick Cappa told Autoblog via email that the reasoning for the different figures "will become clear at a later date."

Highway To Hellcat: Dallas to Vegas with 2,000 HP

Thu, Jan 15 2015

Fort Davis, TX. Early November. Late Sunday afternoon. The 1,200 residents of this small town are using their day of rest to quietly enjoy the breeze rolling off the hills. There's an older couple walking down the street, holding hands. A young lady working at a general store, where milkshakes and antacids are purchased at the same counter. It's a peaceful, quaint scene, right down to the tumbleweed rolling across the street and the rickety wooden porches outside the old storefronts. I hit the throttle of the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat while turning left onto the road leading toward the town square, sending the sedan's rear end swinging to the right with a few puffs of rubbery smoke. I coast down to the 25-mile-per-hour speed limit and spot the line of Challengers, Chargers, and Vipers in my rear-view mirror, the drivers all mimicking my quick jolt of enthusiasm before pulling up the reigns on their V8s and V10s and idling into Fort Davis. Our posse would roll some 5,000 horsepower of pure American muscle into that small Texas town that day. It was only the first stop on an epic journey that would take us from Dallas to Las Vegas, on a winding route down toward El Paso, up through New Mexico, Arizona, and finally north into Nevada, ending at the ritzy Palazzo casino and hotel on the Vegas strip. It was an opportunity to see parts of America I never knew existed, and a chance to bond with some American cars that until recently, I sort of failed to understand. And most importantly it was an opportunity to drive really, really hard. Charging Through Texas Unless you've driven across it, it's hard to understand the massive space that is Texas. In places, scanning 360 degrees of horizon reveals absolutely nothing. Nothing. On its own, driving from Dallas to El Paso covers some 630 miles. Veer south to Fort Davis and you'll add another 70 onto that, not including the 75-mile Davis Mountain Scenic Loop where I found bliss behind the wheel of this insanely powerful sedan. I always expected to like the Charger Hellcat – comfortable seating for four (five in a pinch), equipped with the latest tech, wrapped in a stylish yet muscular body, like a quarterback in a tux. And it moves. The supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 pumps out 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, which makes for one quick sedan, especially considering its heft.

Dodge Vipers selling for $480k in China

Wed, Apr 29 2015

Want to get your hands on a new Dodge Viper? Be prepared to pay dearly. It starts at nearly $90k here in the US, but that's nothing compared to what you'd have to pay for one if you lived in, say, China. CarsNewsChina.com reports on one Viper available in Beijing for an eye-watering 298 million yuan – equivalent to about $480,000 at today's exchange rates and representing more than a 500-percent markup. Part of that premium comes down to the Chinese tax code that charges a reported 60 percent for anything with an engine displacing over four liters. And the Viper's, we needn't remind you, is more than twice that. It naturally costs some to import a car to China as well, but most of the rest is pure profit. The Beijing dealership reportedly gets the cars from dealers in California, has already sold three and plans to import several more. The dealer can also get you (or wealthy Chinese individuals) a Corvette Stingray for a comparatively cheap 1.73 million yuan (or $280k). Related Video:
