This is a very nice 1949 Dodge Coronet in original condition. Using the Old Cars Report Price Guide rating system, I would place this car between a 2 and a 3 on the Vehicle Condition Scale. This car was repainted original equipment Island Green sometime in the mid-1980's. It has been in good dry storage since then. The car had 67,256 miles when I purchased it in September of 1990. The car now has 67,421 miles. Thus, I have decided to sell the car, since I have had little opportunity to drive and enjoy it. As far as I know, this mileage is accurate. The interior is original. The driver seat has a split seam which is shown in one of the pictures. The front floor mat is original. It has become brittle with age, When I raised it to have access to replace the brake master cylinder, it crumbled. Both front door armrests have been recovered. The headliner is original, with no holes or tears. All gages work. The radio does not work. The rubber trunk mat is not original. However, it was manufactured to fit a '49 Dodge. The chassis and drivetrain are completely original. There is oil seepage on the engine oil pan, but not to the extent that it drips. Five knew B.F. Goodrich wide WSW tires were installed in July, 2013. A new fuel pump was installed in June, 2011. The brake master cylinder and wheel cylinders have been replaced at some time during my ownership. Underhood is original. The car maintains good oil pressure and constant engine temperature. It has never overheated. This is originally an Iowa car. The floor pans, trunk, and fenders are rust free. To my knowledge, this car has never had any body damage or rust repaired. During my 24 years of ownership, I have seen no evidence of previous body work deteriorating. All chrome and stainless trim appear to be original. Shipping is the responsibility of the successful bidder. |

SRT back to Dodge, Dart SRT, new Challenger, Charger and Caravan's death outlined in 5-yr plan
Tue, 06 May 2014The onslaught of news from Fiat Chrysler's layout of five-year plans continued with Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis this morning, including the unexpected announcement that SRT was coming back into the fold.
After just a few years existing as an independent entity within the Fiat Chrysler universe, an unceremonious press release hit in conjunction with today's lineup of announcements, saying "the SRT family of vehicles will be consolidated under the Dodge brand." Group CEO Sergio Marchionne thanked SRT headman Ralph Gilles for his dedication to the high-performance wing, calling out is efforts in expanding the vehicle lineup and including more customized models. He did not reference disappointing SRT Viper sales today, but we sense there's a bit of subtext.
With the SRT reunion at Dodge, it's appropriate that some of the most exciting product announcements for the next five years have to do with upcoming performance products. First out of the gate will be a refresh for that flagging Viper in 2015, which comes as little surprise.
Mopar teases four of 'nearly 20' SEMA Show concepts
Fri, Oct 23 2015Yesterday it was Chevrolet. Today, Mopar has dropped some SEMA knowledge, releasing a quartet of teaser images that give us some indication of what kind of cars, trucks, and crossovers Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram will be showing in Las Vegas. Like Chevy, Mopar's concepts utilize both production and concept accessories, although Fiat Chrysler has gone a bit more indepth on at least one of its concepts. Immediately, the most tantalizing teaser is the one shown above. Yes, that's the back of a Challenger, and aside from the bright orange accents on the gray body, you should take notice of the badge mounted on the spoiler – yes, that says "GT AWD." To be honest, such a vehicle wouldn't be a huge shock, as both the Challenger's LX platform-mates, the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300, are offered with all-wheel-drive options. Still, adding such a vehicle to the production cycle would give Dodge a leg up on the rear-drive only Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Aside from that concept, FCA has also released teasers of a Ram-based concept, a 300-based concept, and what we're guessing is a Fiat 500X. We can't wait to see what the actual Fiat concept has to do with kiteboarding. As for the 300 and Ram, there's not a lot of hints on what sort of styling details they'll contain. The Chrysler has additional LED accents and what we're guessing is matte blue paint, while the Ram is based on a Hemi-powered 1500 with Rebel styling cues. This is just a very tiny sample of Mopar's final SEMA roster, which include "hundreds" of parts. There should also be a total of 20 vehicles covering all four former Chrysler Group brands, as well as Fiat. Naturally, we'll have plenty to report on each vehicle once the SEMA show kicks off in the next couple weeks.
2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad soldiers on in the Chi
Thu, 06 Feb 2014Introduced to the market in 2008 and updated in 2011, the Dodge Journey crossover has had all the freshness of a retirement village in recent years. Filling a potentially important niche for Dodge as an affordable, family-sized vehicle, the Journey has gotten one last mild refresh here in Chicago. Feast your mild-appearance-package-loving eyes on the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad.
We can't be sure if the inspiration for the Crossroad appellation was the 2002 blockbuster film, Crossroads, starring Britney Spears, or the 1986 cult-classic, Crossroads, starring Ralph Macchio, but based on the CUV's newfound boyish charm, we're betting on the Karate Kid.
Dark finish 19-inch wheels, platinum chrome accents and a manly new front fascia tell the world that this isn't the Dodge Journey that they've long since forgotten about. In fairness, the Crossroad is easily the best-looking iteration of the Journey to date, and should be better to live with, too, considering its revised cabin, leather seats and standard Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system.
