For auction on ebay is my original California 1970 Dodge Charger.  Please check out all the photos below.  The car is now FM3, Panther Pink, and looks awesome.  If you are looking to be different this is the car for you.  It is very striking and the color combo looks great.  Has all new R/T badging and original R/T door scoops with the rare optional white R/T longitudinal pinstriping.  Please read everything below to see everything done to this car and help answer many of the questions you may have. This car is rust free and as solid of a 70 Charger as you will ever find.  The car retains all of its original body panels except for the center trunk floor which had some pitting and pin holes so it was replaced.  I will break down each area to describe all the work done.  Car runs and drives great and just needs a new owner. Has build sheet and its original fender tag. This is a fully loaded 1970 Charger!

Body- Car has new paint job that was done about a year ago.  Car has all original exterior body panels (only center trunk pan replaced).  Quarters, top, sail panels, floor boards, frame, rockers , etc, etc is all original and in excellent shape.   The car is very straight and looks great.  It is not an original FM3 pink car- however a complete color change was done.  All trim, bumpers, door handles, grille , taillights, etc were removed prior to paint.  Engine bay and trunk also painted without engine installed, so it was done right.   Grille and taillights along with tail panel in very nice condition. Grille has no cracks or breaks.  Original front bumper, rear has been replaced with a new bumper.  All stainless is original and in excellent shape. This car was stored for a very long time inside and all trim was near perfect. Has original very nice wheel lip mouldings, rocker moulding, drip rails, top of door stainless and also vinyl top trim. Marker lights are excellent with no pitting and nice chrome. Nice white vinyl top.  New hood pins as well. Headlights open and close like they should.

Interior-  All new interior including new carpet, seat covers, dash cap, door panels, trunk mat, headliner.  Original dash in nice shape.  Being an SE car it has woodgrain interior, including Woodgrain steering wheel, dash, and door panels.  The driver side seat has the rare and very cool, 70 only, Six way seat. The steering wheel no longer has a crack, it was changed out with another woodgrain wheel with no cracks.

Engine-  Has a rebuilt 383 magnum engine.  All new exterior accessories for reliability purposes.  The engine has less than 1000 miles on it and runs great.  New distributor, carb, starter, etc.  Motor is a stock rebuild with mild cam.  Has HP manifolds into new 2 1/2 full exhaust with tips out back. Motor is ready to drive and everything under the hood has been replaced.  Since everything was replaced the car has been driven about 40 miles.

Transmission- Fully rebuilt 727 automatic transmission with new torque converter.  Shifts as it should with correct kickdown linkage.

Driveshaft- new ujoints on both ends and speed balanced.

Exhaust- Brand new 2 1/2 exhaust with stock turbo mufflers and tips out the back.  Will post pics of exhaust during auction.

Wheels/Tires-  Brand new 17x8 and 17x9.5 chrome "old school" wheels. Tires are brand new 245/45/17 up front and 255/50/17 rear. If buyer does not want the 17's, i do have a set of original rallye wheels with regular radial tires i could put on instead. Buyer's choice.

Electrical- Lights, turn signals, hazards , dome light, headlights , etc all work as they should.  Has new engine harness.  Has new wiper motor as well.  Light bulbs were replaced.

Misc.- All R/T badging is new.  Wiper washer bottle/pump and hoses are new.  Stock 26" radiator.  Glass all in good condition and windows roll up and down great.  Has new weatherstripping in trunk, doors and roof rail.

Brakes-  All new brakes on the car along with new hardware and new wheel cylinders.  Has DISC brakes up front and drums in the rear.

Suspension-  Suspension was replaced about 2 years ago and is still new with very little mileage (approx. 400 miles)

Rear end- Stock 8 3/4 rear end with 3.55 suregrip (posi for people not familiar with mopar)

Overall as you can see a lot has been done to the car to get into the condition you see below.  The car has a ton of new parts and is fully loaded with everything a Charger in 1970 could just about have.  Six way seat, woodgrain wheel, disc brakes, suregrip rear, hood pins, etc.  All the stuff people add to their cars this one already has!  The car was an A/C car from the factory. The only thing not hooked up currently is the radio.  Speakers are in the back, they just need wires from radio to speakers and you will have a radio if that is important to you.   Look around and try to find a 70 Charger in panther pink for sale, they are not out there.  Rare opportunity to own an affordable 70 charger with all the hard work done.  Get in and enjoy!

We drive the cars of Furious 7... in Forza Horizon 2 [w/video]

Thu, Apr 9 2015

On March 27, Turn 10 Studios, the folks behind the Forza Motorsport series, and Universal Pictures, the studio responsible for the Fast and Furious franchise, gave us a match made in heaven, announcing a "standalone expansion" featuring the two franchises. Called Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious, it features the cars from the latest film installment, unique missions and the voice-acting of Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, who plays tech guru Tej Parker on camera. A Fast and Furious video game? Seems like a no brainer. It gets better. Rather than limiting the Fast and Furious Edition cars to the expansion game, Turn 10 made them available through one of their (some may say notorious) downloadable content packages. Eight of the expansion's 11 cars were made available for just $4.99 (the only cars that weren't included were the Fast and Furious Edition Nissan GT-R, while the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and McLaren P1 are already available in-game). What's cool ais that the cars featured in both games are visually identical to the vehicles driven by the stars of Furious 7. Each in-game car has an on-screen parallel that plays a role in advancing the film's story. Considering that we're unlikely to score seat time in Dominic Toretto's real Dodge Charger, then, we figured we'd take to the game and test the car in the digital realm. We've got nine little cluster reviews, covering the cars both in the game and how they appear in the movies. And don't worry, there are no major spoilers here. Click on for the cars of Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast and Furious. 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Fast and Furious Edition Supercharged 7.2L V8 / 900 HP / 663 LB-FT The one vehicle that is mandatory in a Fast and Furious video game, Dom's hot-rodded 1970 Dodge Charger, is as much a character in the films as its driver. Furious 7 marks the fourth appearance of this Mopar beast in the series. Not surprisingly it's a handful to drive, wildly quick and with a four-speed transmission packed full of very tall gears. But beyond that, it's arguably the coolest of the FF Edition cars. This black beauty is exactly as it appears in the latest installment of the film, with the video game version featuring intricate little details, like the moving parts on the BDS supercharger. It's an iconic car, and it's treated as such in the game.

2016 Dodge Viper ACR First Drive [w/video]

Fri, Jul 17 2015

The Dodge Viper is not a comfortable car. Livable, yes. The interior is covered in fine materials. But you still climb over a hot door sill to enter the tiny cabin. And the frequency range of the engine's noises seem specifically designed to cause headaches. What happens, then, if you remove all pretense of civility from a Viper and add equipment solely aimed at improving lap times? You would have the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. In terms of achieving its purpose, this car is a absolute success. In many ways it's also the most honest Viper of the current generation. Prices start at $121,990 (including $2,100 gas-guzzler tax and $1,995 destination), or $32,900 more than the least expensive Viper. In ACR trim, the Viper loses the under-carpet padding, 9 of 12 speakers plus amplifier, carpet and trim from the cargo area, and sound deadening in front of the rear wheel wells. The parts of the interior still covered add healthy amounts of Alcantara or optional carbon fiber. That weight loss is compensated by the addition of go-fast bits like the giant rear wing (or the larger "x-wing" on the Extreme Aero Package), 10-way adjustable Bilstein Motorsports shocks, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a rear diffuser, and a front splitter. Total claimed curb weight is 3,392 pounds in Aero trim (standard ACR trim is 18 pounds lighter), which is within a few stone of the rest of the Viper lineup. The diffuser strakes and leading edge of the splitter are removable, made to be replaced after rubbing on track tarmac and make street driving slightly more practical. Not that you'd want to drive the ACR on the street, with the lack of noise insulation and spring rates twice as stiff as the Viper TA, but it is street-legal. Dodge claims the DOT-approved Kumho Ecsta V720 tires on the ACR allow faster lap times than some race compound tires. Our test was limited to on-track shenanigans at Virginia International Raceway. Which is fitting because we wouldn't have anything good to say about driving the car on the street. The ACR is, essentially, a race car sold in the showroom, although with the Viper's 1 of 1 customization program, your custom build can include as many creature comforts as you like. Lined up in pit lane at VIR, the Viper ACRs for our evaluation blur the air with heat shimmer. All of the test cars have air conditioning, but that shuts off at full throttle with a six-second reset.

Killing the Dart and 200 might lower FCA's fuel economy burden

Tue, Feb 9 2016

Killing the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 could allow FCA US to take advantage of an intriguing quirk in the next decade's fuel economy regulations. By increasing its ratio of trucks versus cars, the automaker might not need to worry so much about hitting the more stringent efficiency rules. At first thought, it might seem harder for an automaker with a ton of trucks to meet the government's mandated 54.5 mile per gallon corporate average fuel economy for 2025. However, every company doesn't need to hit that lofty figure, according to The Detroit Free Press. The exact target varies by the product mix between trucks and cars. "While passenger car and light truck categories have separate CAFE targets, it's still true that more trucks versus cars in a company lineup means a lower combined CAFE target," Brandon Schoettle, Project Manager Sustainable Worldwide Transportation at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, told Autoblog. "While passenger car and light truck categories have separate CAFE targets, it's still true that more trucks versus cars in a company lineup means a lower combined CAFE target." FCA US' current product blend has 80 percent pickups and CUVs, which means the company stands to benefit from a lower fuel economy target. It might not seem entirely fair environmentally, but this is a great move from a business perspective. The new CAFE rules aren't set in stone, according to The Detroit Free Press, but potentially taking advantage of the regulation is just one more reason to cut the Dart and 200. Modern crossovers also aren't gas guzzlers like older SUVs, which could make it easier to hit the fuel economy target. "Utilities offer practicality and versatility that cars do not, and now, built on car architectures, they do not penalize consumers on fuel economy as they once did," AutoTrader Senior Analyst Michelle Krebs told Autoblog. Schoettle warns that FCA is still making a gamble by killing the small sedans. "Depending on the previous sales volumes and how much these vehicles might have exceeded their specific CAFE targets, it's possible that these cars helped earn CAFE credits for FCA that they could bank for future use," he said. "Future sales breakdowns [car vs.
