Im going to try and keep the description very simple and honest. I have owned this car since 1979. It has been in the garage since 1980. Car is an original 440 4 speed dana 60 super track pack car no a/c pwr windows stripe delete car. I have the original numbers matching block in storage. I never thought I would ever sell the car so I bought a brand new 500 h.p. 426 crate hemi motor and dropped it in. Every single piece of this car has been rebuilt or is new. I just installed new clutch, u joints, jet coat headers, original 4 piston calipers rebuilt, powder coated hemi steel wheels, wiring harnesses under dash and engine compartment are new, gas tank cleaned and boiled, fuel pump, tires, and basically any part that needed to be replaced or remanufactured from sitting for 33 years has been. I had the car completely stripped to bare metal and repainted in 2005 at a cost of more than 25 grand.Ive spent another 25 grand plus on the hemi and drivetrain not including labor cost. Paint is very high quality and the original color has been matched perfectly. No metal on this car has ever been replaced or patched. This car was originally out of Georgia so the body never had any rot. Miles are original.Interior is unrestored other than a new carpet. Dash pad, seats, dash, door panels, head liner, and complete interior are all original unrestored and in excellent condition. Trunk is excellent. Undercarriage is in wonderful shape. I had the undercarriage shot with black bedliner ( looks great and will never rust ) Ive put over 50 grand in this car and although I never thought I would ever say this I have just finally lost interest in it and fell like its time to pass it on to someone else. The only thing I have not done yet is put an exhaust on it. I will pay for and complete the exhaust for winning bidder. Car is currently in my shop as Im awaiting a z bar so once the z bar and exhaust are installed car is ready to go. Should be done in a week or so. This is the best barn/ garage find youll ever find and the great thing is who ever gets it gets a completely rebuilt ready to driver or show 69 Hemi 4speed charger r/t. Youll be the first one to drive this car in 30 years. Im sure bidders will have questions so feel free to call me at 847-436-1076 Ill be glad to go over things and please understand its hard to remember everything so please call to review with me if you like before you bid. I also ask that if you dont have the money please do not bid. Im not pressured to sell the car so not interested in low ball offers, trades, brokers, dealers, or anything like that. Winning bidder will get the title and the car when all funds are clear. I can assist with out of state transportation if needed.

Thanks and I apologize for the poor pictures, car has 8 years of dust on it, since the z bar isnt in yet I cant pull it out to clean it up but I think you can see by the pictures the car stands tall. I assure any bidder they will not be disappointed if they buy my car ... this is the real deal

by the way I do not have the fender tag or build sheet... I do also have the hemi emblems for the doors just not on as of yet.

Again to be overly clear this is an original 440 4 speed R/T car vin number is correct XS29

Thanks for looking

George

Cars.com runs 11-second quarter with Dodge Charger Hellcat

Mon, Jun 1 2015

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and its Challenger sibling are two of the heroes of the modern performance world. With a headline-grabbing 707 horsepower from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, their output even shames many supercars. But how quick can one really cover a quarter mile? Cars.com recently decided to find out by taking a Charger Hellcat to the drag strip to see if the sedan lived up to Dodge's 11-second claims. The results were quite impressive. After 13 quarter-mile runs of adjusting variables like the tire pressures and the car's various electronic aids, the Charger Hellcat managed a pass in 11.03 seconds at 126.61 mph – the pinnacle result of the day. This car was mechanically stock and wore the optional Pirelli P Zero tires. According to Cars.com, other quick sprints reached 11.09 seconds and 11.1 seconds, which even beat the site's 11.41-second best from a Challenger Hellcat last year. Getting the Hellcat's prodigious power down without losing traction was a challenge, even on the summer tires. Cars.com thought it had a run that could have dropped below 11 seconds, but then the wheels spun. Using the factory-recommended pressures, the Charger Hellcat was no still slouch with an 11.27-second time recorded, but taking things down to 25 psi proved the quickest at the strip. We already knew that the Charger Hellcat was a wonderful vehicle for eating up huge gulps of asphalt at high speeds and could verify its 204-mile-per-hour top speed (quite a bit faster, incidentally, than the Ferrari California T's 196 mph top-speed). Apparently, the 11-second quarter-mile claim is just as accurate. Also, for any curious owners, the Cars.com story divulges many of the tweaks required to reach this seriously quick time. Marchionne may stay with FCA until 2020

Mon, Aug 31 2015

We might get to see Sergio Marchionne and his vast array of sweaters in the auto industry for even longer than expected. The FCA CEO suggested last year that he would retire from the automaker when its current five-year plan was complete in 2018. Now, he has tentatively extended that point out to at least 2020. "I can do this for another five years if you push me, right? Beyond that, I ain't gonna do it, and I don't want to," he said to Automotive News. That would give Marchionne a 16-year career at the top from joining Fiat in 2004 to possibly leaving FCA in 2020. Although, take the CEO's statement with a grain of salt because he has made multiple statements about the timing for his retirement. In 2012, Marchionne said he would only remain in charge until 2015, which is, well, now. Those five years might also go quite quickly because Marchionne is a busy guy with the Ferrari IPO, the attempted merger with General Motors, implementing FCA's five-year plan, and many other projects. He's already considering the next CEO, though. "My purpose in life is to find the Kuniskises of the world, the Manleys, the Biglands, the Palmers," Marchionne said to Automotive News, referencing the heads at Dodge, Jeep, FCA North America, and the company's chief financial officer, respectively. "I told them, 'One of you is going to do what I do one day. I don't know who that is, but one of you is going to do it.'" Only in Japan: Dodge van one-make racing series is a thing

Wed, Jul 15 2015

Japan seems willing to embrace a level of automotive insanity that many other places lack. Whether it's 1,200-horsepower Nissan GT-Rs blasting through tight, tree-lined mountain roads or advertisements with dances for the Toyota Prius Plug-in, the country definitely has a unique way of expressing a love for autos. The D-Van Grand Prix might be one of our favorite examples yet of crazy Japanese car culture, because the annual, one-make race at the Ebisu Circuit is exclusively for heavily customized Dodge vans. Like many great things, this wonderfully crazy idea came from a little rule breaking. D-Van Grand Prix organizer Takuro Abe was at a track event for a motorcycle racing school, and vans were used to haul the bikes around. During lunch someone came up with the idea for a race. Ignoring that the big machines weren't actually allowed on the circuit, the drivers headed out. The popularity has just grown since then. These days, the racing vans absolutely aren't the stock machines from the event's inspiration. In addition to stripped interiors and track rubber that you might expect, the list of mods for them is a mile long. For every possible advantage, the racers fit them with things like Brembo brakes, cross-drilled rotors, heavy-duty transmissions, and much more. Seeing vans lumbering around the track is very weird at first, but the racers take the competition very seriously. These folks even employ all sorts of little tricks to coax the most from the machines. This is a fascinating motorsports story, but be sure to turn on the subtitles to understand the interviews with the competitors.
