I have owned this car since 1987.  It was in a minor accident many years ago, and unfortunately time and resources to repair it never materialized. It was my first car, as a senior in High School, so the car has sentimental value, but I have other priorities today. Thus on auction today.  I feel I am not placing the Starting Bid amount unreasonable.

Thank you for checking out my auction.  I had purchased a number of parts at the Mopar Nationals, and other sources, to repair the car.  So I would like to make a list of the other extra parts that are included in this auction.

List of Extra Parts:

(2)  Hoods, very straight and solid

(2) Doors, both left and right side with glass, and quite solid

(1) Front Grille, complete with head light doors and vacuum actuators

Another Grille, with metal frame and doors, but no actuators

(1) Left Fender

(1) Trunk Lid

(1) Front Bumper

The Engine ran strong when it was in the car.  Years ago, it started having exhaust valve leakage on a few cylinders, so I had a machine shop recondition the cylinder heads.  Bronze Liners, hardened exhaust seat inserts, and good quality aftermarket stainless steel valves were installed.  It has a double-roller timing chain, with a lopey-lopey camshaft. The transmission should be probably be overhauled, just because it’s out.

I feel this is a solid project car.  The suspension attachment points to the uni-body frame are very solid.  I have taken a lot of pictures of the under-side of the car.  I can E-mail more pictures for you to view this car.  I have about a hundred on file.

In addition to the accident damage, I feel the car will need rear quarter panels, trunk panels, and some left floor panel/restructure work.  The roof top has some holes rusted through, repairs will need to made there as well.

This car has a center shift console.  It was cracked and damaged on the rear part of the console.  It was shortened.  To be restored, it will need another console.

The front and rear seats were recovered at some point in time.  It was that way when I purchased the car.  It does not look original.

Thank you again for checking out my auction.  I hope this car can be a neat project for you, maybe even a unique first-car for your son, or maybe even your wife will let this car be your Christmas present.  This car is being sold As-Is, Where-Is, and no shipping is being offered. I will help loading the car and parts.  I have a loader tractor, or fork truck to load the engine onto your truck or trailer.  I am asking for a $500 Non-Refundable Deposit using PayPal or Bank Wire Transfer within 72 hours. Payment In-Full within 10 days by means of Cash or Bank Wire Transfer. Local Pick-up only, within 30 days.  If you have questions, you may call my cell phone.  (517) 206-1778  The car is Near Jackson, Michigan.

This car is being offered for sale locally, so I am reserving the right to end this auction at anytime.

Experience the New York Auto Show by drone

Fri, Apr 10 2015

The Autoblog team recently returned from wildly running around the Javits Center to cover all the news and debuts at the New York Auto Show. Sometimes, it's nice to take a more serene look at the exhibition floor, though, and the event's organizers are providing that exact opportunity by flying a drone through the hall. Combined with the down-tempo music, this clip feels like a form of automotive meditation. If you're going to miss the show in the Big Apple, the drone also provides a good overview at the exhibition floor, especially at the stands from Lexus, Buick, Dodge, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and BMW. Plus, it's a fun way to see some vehicles from a completely different angle than they ever appear on the road. Houston road rage incident devolves into all-out brawl

Tue, May 17 2016

The video is no longer available. It appears the associated account has been terminated. Chaos erupted on a Houston freeway last weekend when an altercation spiraled out of control and ended up in a battle-royale style brawl in the middle of traffic. According to KTRK, David Dao and his daughter were traveling along FM 1960 on the morning of May 14 when they came upon a white Honda and a blue Ram truck parked in the right lane. The drivers and passengers of the vehicles were engaged in a spirited argument about something that had happened moments before Dao pulled up. Dao parked in his lane to block traffic in an attempt at making sure other drivers didn't hit the people fighting in the right lane, and instructed his daughter to start filming the incident in case they were needed as witnesses. As Dao's daughter filmed, the incident quickly escalated–harsh words were exchanged, a drink was thrown in a woman's face, and then the driver of the Ram kicked in the Honda's grille. "I couldn't believe it. As soon as he kicked the grille, I was like, 'This is going down now," said Dao. "I was thinking this is going to be bad. At that time, I knew because there was physical damage." As soon as the Ram driver kicked the Honda the entire situation went sideways and devolved into a huge brawl, with the people from both vehicles throwing wild punches and grappling with one another. A woman who was a passenger in the Ram attempted to break up the scrum but took a haymaker in the face for her troubles. Eventually, the fight broke up and the people returned to their vehicles which Dao assumed meant that the altercation was over. Apparently though, the Ram driver felt he hadn't made his point, and he reversed at high speed into the Honda, smashing the fascia and buckling the hood. The Ram then sped off westbound on U.S. 290 with the Honda on its tail. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the incident was not reported and there is no word what happened to the brawlers after they left the scene. 2016 Dodge Viper ACR First Drive [w/video]

Fri, Jul 17 2015

The Dodge Viper is not a comfortable car. Livable, yes. The interior is covered in fine materials. But you still climb over a hot door sill to enter the tiny cabin. And the frequency range of the engine's noises seem specifically designed to cause headaches. What happens, then, if you remove all pretense of civility from a Viper and add equipment solely aimed at improving lap times? You would have the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. In terms of achieving its purpose, this car is a absolute success. In many ways it's also the most honest Viper of the current generation. Prices start at $121,990 (including $2,100 gas-guzzler tax and $1,995 destination), or $32,900 more than the least expensive Viper. In ACR trim, the Viper loses the under-carpet padding, 9 of 12 speakers plus amplifier, carpet and trim from the cargo area, and sound deadening in front of the rear wheel wells. The parts of the interior still covered add healthy amounts of Alcantara or optional carbon fiber. That weight loss is compensated by the addition of go-fast bits like the giant rear wing (or the larger "x-wing" on the Extreme Aero Package), 10-way adjustable Bilstein Motorsports shocks, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a rear diffuser, and a front splitter. Total claimed curb weight is 3,392 pounds in Aero trim (standard ACR trim is 18 pounds lighter), which is within a few stone of the rest of the Viper lineup. The diffuser strakes and leading edge of the splitter are removable, made to be replaced after rubbing on track tarmac and make street driving slightly more practical. Not that you'd want to drive the ACR on the street, with the lack of noise insulation and spring rates twice as stiff as the Viper TA, but it is street-legal. Dodge claims the DOT-approved Kumho Ecsta V720 tires on the ACR allow faster lap times than some race compound tires. Our test was limited to on-track shenanigans at Virginia International Raceway. Which is fitting because we wouldn't have anything good to say about driving the car on the street. The ACR is, essentially, a race car sold in the showroom, although with the Viper's 1 of 1 customization program, your custom build can include as many creature comforts as you like. Lined up in pit lane at VIR, the Viper ACRs for our evaluation blur the air with heat shimmer. All of the test cars have air conditioning, but that shuts off at full throttle with a six-second reset.
