I'm selling my 1969 Dodge Charger R/T 440 4 speed car. This is a legitimate R/T  4 speed car that came from the factory with the A34 option which consisted of a 4:10 dana rear end with disc brakes!! Also known as the Super Trac Pack. I am not to thrilled about selling this car, but an opportunity to buy a car that I have been chasing for the past few years just became available. I will do my best to describe this car in detail. I am selling this car as a project car that will need some work. The car is extremely solid and with the new body panels and all the parts I collected it will be a great start.

All the body stampings match on the car. The front radiator support match the vin#.  The trunk rail numbers are hard to see. I can make out the last three of the vin which match the last three of the VIN.The original engine and transmission are long gone and I have no leads on where they are. The car does have it's original dana under the car. I do not have a transmission for the car. The car does have it's fender tag. I do not have a build sheet.

Body- There was some work done to the car already. A complete AMD interior floor section was welded in the car along with a AMD trunk floor. All the bracing is there along with the console brackets. The original trunk extentions are still in the car and have light surface rust on the bottom. THERE ARE NO HOLES... They look great for there age. The driver's side quarter panel was replaced. I was told by the previous owner that it was also a AMD panel. I will be honest I believe its a quarter panel skin possibly from goodmark that was welded on. It is NOT a full quarter panel. The passenger side quarter panel has a small patch below the side marker that extends to the wheel well that was welded in. Who ever did the repair did a nice job. The rest of the quarter panel looks in pretty good shape. A rear valance along with the valance corners were also put on the car. They are also from AMD. The panel has the wire looms already on the panel which would indicate it's a higher quality panel and you can tell its a good panel because of its thickness. The corners were NOT mudded in like most people do... The corner seams are there.

The taillight panel has small area where it looks like it was fixed. Right between the two taillights. Around the taillights looks nice and solid. The wheel wells in the car are exceptionally good for its age. The wheel lips are crisp and feel really nice on the inside lip. There is a small tear one the passenger side wheel well which is common when an old trunk floor is removed. This is a small area.

The driver's side door is real decent. The passenger side door is really nice. The seams are beautiful. The hood and truck lid are in really good shape. The trunk lid lip and hood has light surface rust on the bottom. There are no holes that I can see.  The front fenders look to be in really good shape. There is a small patch on the driver's side fender towards the bottom. There is a brace the shape of a triangle that braces the top of the fender on the inside that usually rusts out. The bracing on these fenders are in really good shape. These usually are toast!  All the braces are there. The headlight buckets are in good shape with no holes or rot. The fenders look to have all the right body line with no major damage. The roof skin is absolutely beautiful. It's straight and looks to be undisturbed. The panel behind the rear window looks to be solid. I can't see any scale or previous work that has been done to the area. The previous owner told me that this car was ready for paint when I purchased it. I feel that the car needs more finish work before its ready for paint.  My plan was to have the car media blasted and start from scratch. There are some small dings and some light surface rust showing through the primer in some spots, but nothing major.

Frame The torsion bar area has been looked over several times and I can assure you its solid. The rear frame rails are also solid. There is some light surface rust towards the rear, but nothing major. You can squeeze the rear frame rails as hard as you can, and they feel rock solid. The rear spring purches are in beautiful shape. The rear cross member which locks in the gas tank looks to be solid. The rear shock tower is there and NOT pushed through the trunk floor or rotted. The front rails are straight so I dont believe it was ever hit.

Interior I do have most of the interior.  The front buckets and the rear seats will need covers and foam. I have all the headliner bows. The dash looks to be completely painted and has a beautiful dash pad. All the gauges and dash pads are there and are in good shape. All the plastic is there along with the radio.( The plastic piece that goes above the glove box is not in the picture. I do have one and it will be included with the car.) I bought it from a guy in california and it should be here soon. I have a really nice console that comes with the car. It does have a small crack on the back like most of them do. The car comes with the correct shifter, but no linkage. The upper door pad are there and are driver quality. I do have a new carpeting kit that comes with the car. I inspected it and it is the correct 4 speed carpeting that has been cut already. Just where the 4 speed hole is and the brackets. I laid it in the car and it does need to be trimmed by the sill plate area. I will lay the carpet in the car along with putting the seats and console in the car for shipment so things dont get wrecked. I have all the drip moldings, I have a nice pair of A pillar molding for the car. The package tray is there in decent shape. I have arm rests in black along with the plastic mounts. I do not have any door panels that are decent enough to send with the car. The kick panels are also there in black as well. I have the rearview mirror and sill plates. The clutch pedal are also there along with the gas pedal with linkage. I also have a under dash harness for the car.

Grill  I have a really nice grill that goes with the car that looks complete. The center I piece has a few dings, but there are no brakes or missing teeth in the grill. A really nice piece. The hood latch is even there which is always missing. All the vacuum pods are there with the lines. Headlights are there along with the wiring harness.

Misc Parts/Extra Parts-  I have the taillights for the car with an extra set. All the bumpers are there with an extra set. They will need to be re-chromed. I have all the stainless for the car. I have the wiper motor for the car.  I have a Z bar with the rod that goes through the firewall. The gas filler tube is there along with the chrome ring and gas cap. The front bumper bracket is there. I have all the glass for the car along with the windshield. My personal opinion is I would get a new one, but one does come with the car with no cracks. I do have some new/misc parts that go with the car which consist of a bolt kit and small interior parts. I tracked down the right parts for the disc brake set up for the car. These are the correct set up for the car that came off a 69 Coronet R/T. I will include all my extra parts that I obtained for the car. Which consist of  extra door handles, extra bumpers, and some small interior things. The new owner will also get a extra set of 906 heads, exhaust manifolds and misc engine parts.

Missing Parts- The transmission, side marker lights(have some of them) flywheel, and belhousing. I will include a belhousing with the car, but I am not sure it is the correct one. Engine harness is missing, door panels, some emblems, and wheel lip moldings. And no drip rail moldings. And no gas tank. I do have the straps for the tank.

Hennessey's Dodge Challenger Hellcat cranks out 1,032 hp

Mon, Feb 22 2016

Enthusiasts know the Dodge Challenger Hellcat produces 707 horsepower. It's one of the modern muscle-car era's iconic numbers. But for some, that's not enough. Enter Hennessey Performance. The Texas tuners loaded the Hellcat with a twin-turbocharger that works with Dodge's supercharger to boost output to 1,032 hp and 987 pound-feet of torque. Yes, that's an engine dyno rating, not at the rear wheels, but still! It's a little more complicated than a bolt-on booster. Called the HPE1000, the turbo kit has stainless steel headers and down pipes, billet aluminum compressor wheels, and a high-flow air system. There's also an an improved fuel pump, and the engine and chassis are specially calibrated. You also get numbered plaques signed by John Hennessey himself and the engine tech who builds your mill. All of this helps get your Hellcat to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds, and it can do the quarter mile in 9.9 seconds at 142 mph. The Hellcat and it's 6.2-liter blown Hemi V8 are not for the faint of heart. Hennessey makes this Dodge downright demonic. Small 3-row crossover SUVs specifications compared on paper

Thu, May 10 2018

There's no shortage of three-row vehicles on the market for carrying seven or more people and their stuff wherever they all need to go. Just about every car company has at least one large crossover or traditional SUV with three rows of seats, and there are still plenty of minivans to pick from. But most of these vehicles are large, pricey, and frequently thirsty. Fortunately, there are still a handful of smaller crossovers that deliver 7-passenger capability in a smaller, cheaper package. We've gathered four of the small three-row set here to compare them based on space, power, fuel economy, pricing, and more. They include the very old Dodge Journey, the slightly less old Mitsubishi Outlander and Kia Sorento, and the relatively new Volkswagen Tiguan. You can see the raw numbers in the chart below, followed by a more detailed breakdown and some notes on how we like each of these vehicles. For in-depth opinions on the vehicles, be sure to check out our full reviews, and if you want to compare these with other vehicles, try out our comparison tools. Engines, transmissions and performance Interestingly, three of the four crossovers here utilize similar engines for their four-cylinder offerings. The Dodge, Kia and Mitsubishi all feature naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Only the Volkswagen Tiguan chooses turbocharging and a smaller 2.0-liter displacement. But because of its turbocharger, the Tiguan's four-cylinder is easily the most potent, making a healthy 221 pound-feet of torque, which is more than 40 more than the Sorento, the crossover with the next most torque. The VW is also second-most powerful, just one horse behind the Sorento. The Outlander is the least powerful in the four-cylinder class. The Journey is only barely better, but it will probably feel as slow or worse thanks to its ancient 4-speed automatic. The four-cylinder Sorento and Outlander each have 6-speed automatic transmissions, and the VW has an 8-speed. The Sorento with a V6 has an 8-speed, too. View 17 Photos Moving up to the V6 class, the Outlander is once again at the bottom. It actually makes less torque than the turbo VW Tiguan. The Journey and Sorento are almost perfectly matched. The Journey makes a bit more torque; the Sorento makes a bit more power. The Journey also gets upgraded to a 6-speed automatic. Another powertrain consideration to bare in mind is whether all-wheel-drive is necessary.

EV cost burden pushing automakers to their limits, says Stellantis' CEO Tavares

Wed, Dec 1 2021

DETROIT — Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said external pressure on automakers to quickly shift to electric vehicles potentially threatens jobs and vehicle quality as producers struggle with EVs' higher costs. Governments and investors want car manufacturers to speed up the transition to electric vehicles, but the costs are "beyond the limits" of what the auto industry can sustain, Tavares said in an interview at the Reuters Next conference released Wednesday. "What has been decided is to impose on the automotive industry electrification that brings 50% additional costs against a conventional vehicle," he said. "There is no way we can transfer 50% of additional costs to the final consumer because most parts of the middle class will not be able to pay." Automakers could charge higher prices and sell fewer cars, or accept lower profit margins, Tavares said. Those paths both lead to cutbacks. Union leaders in Europe and North America have warned tens of thousands of jobs could be lost. Automakers need time for testing and ensuring that new technology will work, Tavares said. Pushing to speed that process up "is just going to be counter productive. It will lead to quality problems. It will lead to all sorts of problems," he said. Tavares said Stellantis is aiming to avoid cuts by boosting productivity at a pace far faster than industry norm. "Over the next five years we have to digest 10% productivity a year ... in an industry which is used to delivering 2 to 3% productivity" improvement, he said. "The future will tell us who is going to be able to digest this, and who will fail," Tavares said. "We are putting the industry on the limits." Electric vehicle costs are expected to fall, and analysts project that battery electric vehicles and combustion vehicles could reach cost parity during the second half of this decade. Like other automakers that earn profits from combustion vehicles, Stellantis is under pressure from both establishment automakers such as GM, Ford, VW and Hyundai, as well as start-ups such as Tesla and Rivian. The latter electric vehicle companies are far smaller in terms of vehicle sales and employment. But investors have given Tesla and Rivian higher market valuations than the owner of the highly profitable Jeep and Ram brands. That investor pressure is compounded by government policies aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions. The European Union, California and other jurisdictions have set goals to end sales of combustion vehicles by 2035.
