1968 Dodge Charger R/t Hardtop 2-door 7.2l on 2040-cars
Byron, Georgia, United States
UP FOR AUCTION IS A SUPER SOLID 68 CHARGER R/T THAT I BOUGHT NEARLY 20 YEARS AGO FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER THAT SPECIAL ORDERED THIS CAR HERE IN MIDDLE GA. THE CAR NOT ONLY SERVED DUTY AS THE FAMILY HAULER ,BUT ALSO HAD A TOW BAR ATTACHED TO PULL HIS RACE CAR (SAID IT WAS A SOX AND MARTIN BUILT) ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. THE PAINT SCHEME YOU SEE WAS APPLIED WHEN THE CAR WAS ALMOST NEW MUCH LIKE A DICK LANDY CLINIC / RACE CAR. THATS THE OLD HISTORY AS I REMEMBER IT. THE CAR IS HIGHLY OPTIONED WITH 440 MAGNUM R/T PACKAGE AUTO ON COLUMB, BUDDY SEAT CONSOLE, A/C,TIC TOCK TACH, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, REAR WINDOW DEFROST, HEADREST, AND VERY RARE POWER WINDOWS , TO MENTION MOST. THE CAR CAME ORIGINALLY PAINT CODE TTI MEDIUM SILVER METALIC DARK, GREEN VINYL TOP, GREEN DELUXE INTERIOR, WHITE BUMBLE BEE STRIPES. I DO NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL MOTOR ,THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAD IT RACE BUILT AND IN A DRAG CAR AND IT WAS NOT FOR SALE, BUT I GOT 68 ENGINE PARTS INCLUDING BLOCK, HEADS WITH VALVE COVERS, INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLDS, AND OTHER ENGINE PARTS AND BRACKETS RELATED TO THIS CAR INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL RADIATOR, I BELIEVE THE ORIGINAL 727 TRANSMISSION .YEARS AGO I PICKED UP UPPER DOOR AND QUARTER TRIM PANELS(STILL VERY SUPPLE) A GOOD USABLE UPPER DASH PAD AND A VERY GOOD TICK TOCK TACK INSTRUMENT PANEL. HIS GRAND CHILDREN HAD DAMAGED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IN THE CAR. THE ORIGINAL GRILLE IS EXCELLENT AND THE LOWER VALENCE IS NICE AND USABLE ALSO . THE MAIN FLOOR PANS ARE FAIRLY NICE WITH ONLY A FEW SMALL RUST HOLES MAINLY IN RT REAR. THE TRUNK FLOOR IS SHOT AND NEEDS REPLACED. THE UNIBODY IS VERY GOOD AND ONLY NEEDS SOME REPAIR WHERE TOW BAR WAS ATTACHED. TYPICAL RUST REPAIR IS NEEDED AROUND BACK GLASS AREA. BASIC CAR IS VERY STRAIGHT WITH LITTLE RUST AND NO CRASH DAMAGE.I THINK ONLY SOME SMALL PATCHES ARE ONLY NEEDED ON LOWER FENDERS ,DOORS ,AND QUARTERS. THE ORIGINAL SPARE TIRE LOOKS LIKE IT MAY HAVE NOT EVER BEEN USED AND COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL JACK. THIS RARE HIGHLY OPTIONED R/T NEEDS RESTORING AND IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE I AM GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.CAR WILL BE SOLD WITH GA. BILL OF SALE ONLY AND LETTER FROM GA DMV WITH NO LEAN OR RECENT TITLE HISTORY IF NEEDED. GOOD LUCK BIDDING AND EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS.

Jay Leno's Dodge Challenger raises $585k for USO in Scottsdale
Mon, Jan 19 2015Of all the metal moved in Scottsdale, AZ, this holiday weekend, the one you see here was hardly the most expensive. But it's noteworthy for another reason: despite being a relatively humble, second-hand 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, raised an impressive $565,625. That's because, first of all, it belonged to Jay Leno, and secondly because the proceeds were going to the USO. Leno donated the modern muscle car from his collection to benefit our men and women in uniform, and was on hand to present the car on stage at the Gooding & Company auction, along with USO president J.D. Crouch II and former Army chief of staff General George W. Casey, Jr. After frenzied and patriotic bidding, the gavel ultimately dropped at $360,000, accompanied by over $200,000 in additional contributions, bringing the total amount donated to the USO to over half a million. Commendable though it was, of course the Challenger didn't garner the highest bids at the auction. A 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider sold for $7.7 million and a 1968 Ferrari 330 GTS fetched $2.4 million. A rare 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Series I Coupe Aerodinamico sold for over $4,070,000 – which, according to Sports Car Market, is the most ever paid at auction for a 400 Superamerica. And a 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6 also sold for a record $1.98 million. Dodge Viper saved from crusher by students, but will it last?
Tue, 16 Sep 2014The saga of the Washington state community college hoping to keep its allegedly pre-production Dodge Viper out of the maw of the crusher is going strong. Not only does the school still have the car, but there's a chance that the college might even get to keep it.
The whole situation flared up in March when the South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, WA, received a notice from Chrysler Group that requested that the school's Viper be destroyed. The automaker had loaned the muscle car to it about a decade ago to use for educational purposes in its auto tech classes. With the Dodge growing long in the tooth, "it is unlikely that these vehicles offer any educational value to students," the company said in its press release on the matter.
However, the college balked at destroying its Viper, despite the fact it had signed a contract with Chrysler Group to do so. The school further claimed that its car was incredibly special because it was a pre-production example and just the fourth one made back in 1992. Although, as we pointed out at the time, the photos of the school's vehicle showed a coupe that looked like a newer Viper GTS.
Stellantis reports surprising 2020 results, is 'off to a flying start'
Wed, Mar 3 2021MILAN — Low global car inventories and cost cuts should boost Stellantis's profit margins this year, though a shortage of semiconductors and investments in electric vehicles could weigh on results, the newly-formed automaker said on Wednesday. The forecast came as Stellantis, created by the January merger of Peugeot-maker PSA and Fiat Chrysler (FCA), reported better-than-expected results for 2020 that sent its shares up around 3% in morning trading. "Stellantis gets off to a flying start and is fully focused on achieving the full promised synergies (from the merger)," Chief Executive Carlos Tavares said in a statement. Stellantis is the world's fourth largest carmaker, with 14 brands including Fiat, Peugeot, Opel, Jeep, Ram and Maserati. It said 2021 results should be helped by three new high-margin Jeep vehicles in North America and a strong pricing environment there. The U.S. market has driven profits for years at FCA and starts off as the strongest part of Stellantis. The group's guidance assumes no more significant lockdowns caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic, which shuttered auto plants around the world last spring. Stellantis should also get a lift as its starts to implement a plan aimed at delivering over 5 billion euros a year in savings, without closing any plants. Tavares has also pledged not to cut jobs. But a pandemic-related global shortage of semiconductors, used for everything from maximizing engine fuel economy to driver-assistance features, could hurt business. Auto industry executives have said the shortage should ease by the second half of 2021. Stellantis said its "electrification offensive" could also weigh on results this year. Automakers are racing to develop electric vehicles to meet tighter CO2 emissions targets in Europe and this week Volvo joined a growing number of carmakers aiming for a fully-electric line-up by 2030. Stellantis plans to have fully-electric or hybrid versions of all of its vehicles available in Europe by 2025, broadly in line with plans at top rivals such as Volkswagen and Renault-Nissan, although Stellantis has further to go to meet that goal. The carmaker is targeting an adjusted operating profit margin of 5.5%-7.5% this year. That compares with a 5.3% aggregated margin last year: 4.3% at FCA and 7.1% at PSA excluding a controlling stake in parts maker Faurecia, which is set to be spun-off from Stellantis shortly.
